So I have fixed all my other issues with Gamex thanksto this forum. The only issue I have left is an annoying one:

I have a Radeon 9800 Pro Video Card. I cannot get Gamex to work on the secondary display. I can even play the games on the secondary monitor but in order to choose them, I have to use Game-Ex on my computer monitor (primary Display). I can get it to work if I make the secondary monitor my primary, but I don't want to change my settings everytime. Clone mode does not work, I believe its only for Video. I wish I could drag GameEx to the secondary monitor and have it launch from there. I would like to be able to see Gamex only on the secondary monitor. Any Ideas?

Here is some more info.

Secondary Monitor is a new Sony XBR3 running at 1920x1080 (I've tried other resolutions and it still doesn't work). Mame works perfectly on the secondary monitor, just not gameEx.

Thank You

Sorry to hear about your issue...I'd pitch in but I'm all jammed up with stuff...but if this is still unresolved in a few weeks I'll look into it and see if I can help...as the system I'm using right now only does a single monitor. :(

I have a 9800 model and clone is what I use with my television. I'm not sure why it will not work. Try the rage3d.com forums for all kinds of ATI help.

You're not alone, Ariay.

I've been trying to run GameEx on my secondary monitor for ages. I just don't think it's possible, or I didn't before I read Ling's post. I also use a Radeon 9800, so maybe it's just the card. *shrugs*

Just to clarify. I can't use clone mode because my monitor number one supports 1680 x 1050 and my TV does not. They just support different resolutions, so I cannot use clone mode.

I guess Adultery is right and you just can't do it. If only we could drag it to the second monitor somehow, all the problems would be solved. Thanks Anyway.

Does the clone feature actually try and change the resolution of the 2nd monitor? I'd test it out on my end...... buutttt I'm afraid I'll blow my tube.

When you clone it, both monitors need to be the same resolution. I also like the extended desktop so my wife can use the computer while I use the secondary screen for other things such as media center. I'll ask Tom if he can help me.

I think I found the answer to your problem. Are you familiar with the CCC for ATI? Its the Catalyst Control Center? Dl the latest drivers for your card from ATI.com. Start CCC and choose basic view. Start the wizard and you will be able to set different resolutions for each monitor. I just tested it out.

I just downloaded the newest version and although it was a newer version than mine, the clone mode still requires the same resolution to be on both monitors. Besides, I woud like to be able to do it on extended mode if possible. Thanks though.

If you ran the wizard it gives you the option to set resolutions for each monitor(for the desktop use). Plus you choose how you want the 2nd monitor displayed.(ie. cloned, extended..)

Just start CCC. Click the view tab at the top left tool bar. Choose basic view. CCC should close. Re open and start the wizard in basic.

Wait... So the problem isn't running GameEx solely on the secondary, it's setting resolution different on two monitors? You can do that yeah!

START -> Control Panel -> Display -> Settings Tab

display1.jpg

Select the second monitor, change the size and hit 'Apply' - That's all there is to it!

display2.jpg

Getting GameEx to run on that monitor was the issue I thought?

Getting GameEx to run on the secondary monitor is the issue. I was basically looking for another way around it but clone mode is not what I wanted. Thanks

You can extend the desktop and change resolutions.

I agree with extending your monitor, as that is how I run mine, and it is fine..

I am extending my monitor. The two displays are at different resolutions. But when I run game ex, it will only run on the primary monitor.

That's what I thought the problem was in the first place. :)

As I said before, I don't think it's possible to display GameEx solely on the secondary monitor.

For now I am just setting the secondary monitor as the primary when I use GameEx. It is a bit of a pain but hopefully there will be some sort of fix or solution out there soon.
