Adding proper backglass image for FX3 table in PinballX

Recommended Posts

I am trying to figure out how to add the proper backglass and table images to FX3 tables in PinballX.  When I do it does not save it. Is there a video somewhere covering this process? I have done this before (a few years ago) but for some reason I just can't figure it out again.  The issue is as I scroll through tables the table and backglass images change to the new selection. However I have tables (FX3 tables) that the backglass does not change or the table shows no image but the name shows for the selection.

Thanks

Not sure how you add it, but I recommend to use Pinballx Databasemanager .

You see an overview of all your media and you can easyly drag and drop, use GameEx ftp or even Mega link as source.

If you got the original Steam version of FX3, it will even check table names and can auto add it.

An Audit option is available to check for your complete PinballX system if media is available, or if you have media that is not used by PinballX.

There is a complete thread in the 'user projects' section and a manual that explains almost all settingsand buttons.

Hope this helps you

Let me know if you need more help.

It's not a video, or about backglass, but a post how to add new FX3 tables to Database manager
So that will guide you to add

I see on the FTP that there are a lot of backglass images
What you can do, Is go to settings, select tab GameEx Online
Setup your GamnEx account, so the program can download from FTP
If you Select "Backglass Images" and close the dialog

(for Bulk import, I should also recommend to change the setting "Show dialog 'Convert image file'" in the general tab

You can setup your own setting by choosing between 'Keep image' or 'Convert to video'

Using the   image.png.3e32c1eefa2c9a2df5cd923110793ad0.png button, it will download from FTP the tables all the media that can be matched (I see 75 out of 100 matching tables)

Oh Boy..... I got my self in a jam. I had the system just search online for FX3 missing images and such and when it was done I went from 103 tables to 188 tables and I had titles but no images and nor did I own the tables it found. But I could play a demo version till it timed out. Not interested in any demo stuff that is for sure.

So a few days later I have it all sorted out now as I am back down to 103 tables. But I still have the missing backglass images in PinballX.

I made sure the backglass image is named correct and that it is in the correct folder. But for some reason PinballX will not display it. When I start the table it does load the backglass in FX3 and it works perfect.

There has to be something simple I am missing. I can make a short video of the issue and what I am doing to try and solve the issue if it might help someone help me figure out what it is I am doing wrong or just missing.

I am really stumped on this one for sure and I could really use some help.

Thanks

Yes please.

Make a short video, because not sure what you mean

OK so in short I have a Pinball cab with over 100 tables on it. Future Pinball and FX3. I have 4 FX3 tables that I have issues with. The issues are that the Table and backglass load and play fine once the table is launched. However I can not figure out why I am having issues with a few FX3 table and backglass images in PinballX. (The Front End) The images are not showing up on the screen. I have created a short video showing the issue and what folders I have the images place in. It is odd I am having issues with only a few of the FX3 tables and the other table setups went without issue and they display as expected.  Here is a video showing a sample of the issue: https://youtu.be/ZT8EfFJDp1M

Ok. Think I understand your issue

So the aliens from fx3 (i think I saw multiple) didn't display a playfield and showed also the previous image (atm) from the frontend ?

Can you post your log.txt file after the issue occurred ?

If possible, can you run a 'media audit' from Databasemanager,  paste the output into a notepad and post that file as well ?

Are the medias showing fine outside the frontend, so via gamemanger or Databasemanager?

It looks like you have two Alien_Isolation images in Pinball FX3\Backglass Images (6:50 in video). Is one using a .jpg file extension and one .png, but they are actually the same jpg file just renamed to change the file extension to .png? If so try deleting the .png version (PinballX can use .jpg if that is what the other file is).

Worth ruling that out, but please post a log file.

Oh Boy I did it again.  I went from 103 tables to 183 tables. This seams to happen when I try to use "PinballX Database Manager". I clearly have no clue how to use it.  It seams to add tables I don't  own or even have the images for. So now I got myself a bigger mess to sort out. "errrrrr"

Is there a video on how to properly use PinballX Database Manager?

Posted

Sorry, no video how to use it, but a lot you can adjust in the settings ( auto add etc)

If its auto add and you have 183 tables , you properly have "obsolete " tables as well.

With advanced search, you can properly search on the latest added.

By default, you will be asked if you want to add tables and if you want to save your database file

I don't see any errors in your logfile, so nothing that PinballX couldn't not handle.

Can you zip the following directories and post them :

pinballx\databases

Pinballx\media\pinballx fx3

i will check your database file and your media on my pc

Humm the compressed file is like 7gig. Maybe I did not do it right? I think I got only the 2 folders you asked for.

Posted

The databases folder is 1.04 mb and the PinballFX3 folder is 8.21 gig before I zip them.

So here is the databases file. Now I need to figure out how to get the PinballFX3 folder for your review.Databases.zip

your pinballfx3 media folder is 8 gig ????
must be your table video folder that is filling up that
Maybe put the media files on dropbox (or anything similar) and send me a PM

EDIT :i've imported your FX3 database file, but I just see 74 records in it (not 180)
image.png.c97a8fbb4f8adb4e47c8bd2d37e986b6.png

When I let database manager add the missing tables I see 101 :

image.png.a1af44b0b485ef9e0dd2e25a743d4400.png

image.png.e05876b168d6899c9bf2cd7d9c329c72.png

and showing 99 in Pinballx
image.thumb.png.e915b8bdfd2c097bfd287e8fdb5966ba.png

(This is caused your Tesla table is set to disabled)
image.thumb.png.93f74106b4d389ea2c931d705187989f.png

So not sure why you see 180 tables ?
Maybe your Steam directory is screwed up ?

Maybe that is because I also have Future Pinball tables and could it be that the only tables you are seeing are the FX3 tables?

Could that be the reason you are not seeing all of them? I only own maybe 10 to 15 FX3 tables.

I thought you mean that FX3 systems shows 180 tables.
It is just adding 26 tables from FX3 that you don't have in your list.
I never check my "all systems", as that contains 1200+ tables :P
I use filters and systems to separate

Yeah I am sure glad I had selected FX3 and not all.  LOL I would be in really bad shape if I had selected all that is for sure.  LOL wait that is not a bit funny!  lol
