I've still got some stupid questions :

1 - I have XP and I'm immediately starting through with GameEx but I always have to escape install the WinIpac driver for my J-pac card because otherwise it won't reconize the buttons and joystick ?

2 - If I'm using Mame - command line version I can't run Vertical games

If I'm using Mame32 I can only see 10% off all games (but I've read on the forum that I'm not the only one with that issue)

If I'm using Mame - command line with AdvanceMame then I can run all games only my neogeo is flickering and the resolution is only using 75% of my screen?

Can somebody please help me out here?

Many thanks in advance

1. Is this an app that needs to be started before you run GameEx? Open your configuration app and go to -> Tweaks/Performance -> Launch On Startup ->Browse to your WinIpac driver, because that's basically an .exe that needs to load, right?

2. Are you a registered user? In that case, perhaps the GameEx bezel feature is messing with you.

in the configuration app go to -> Basic MAME settings -> Use bezel (change to Dont use bezel) Working now?

You say you see less games when using Mame32, this is confusing, are you using a different build (i.e. version)? In configuration app go to -> Advanced MAME settings, page 2 where you change all the filters to "no" starting with "only working games" to "only existing roms".

If you feel that AdvanceMAME is what you want, run a Neo Geo game and bring up the GUI (usually with the 'tab' button) and go to -> Video settings and experiment 'til you find a setting that fills your screen up then select that resolution for all games of that resolution.

Hope this takes you from "NOOB" to "Happy NOOB". ;)

Hi

i have the same problem with mame32

i have 3000 plus roms that work in mame but gameex will only show 106 and sometimes less depending what i change in config settings,

Been playing with it for days and read all the forum to try and find a solution .

but somewhere in toms writeup he says you are better off with the latest mame and the latest gameex.

So i will probably go that way but i will have to get some 109 set of roms from r*******er.

as i am on mame32 version 0.91

cheers Peter

I had the same problem but this should fix it ,

Problem: (USB Only) Board appears not to work until WinJPAC is run every time. Yellow exclamation marks in Control Panel, Device Manager.

This is a rare problem, and is caused by a registry error. It is suspected that this problem occurs if the board is regularly swapped from one USB port to another, or different board versions used on the same PC. Microsoft have been alerted to this problem. To fix this problem, download this file: IPacfix and click on it. This deletes all references to the J-PAC in the registry. Then unplug and reconnect the board.

If you would rather do this manually here is what to do:

The fix involves registry editing, the usual caution should be observed.

Run regedit, and open Hkey_Local_Machine/System/CurrentControlSet/Enum/HID and delete the keys containing VID D209 Also Hkey_Local_Machine/System/CurrentControlSet/Enum/USB and delete the same keys. You might have to right-click and set permissions to do this. Unplug and re-connect the board.

Mine works fine now but only on the default settings , If I try to reprogram it does not work , but the defaults should be fine for you

Oh, most importantly (and I did forget this) if you change any filters for the MAME games, you will need to update your gamelist again as well.

hey i had the problem with my ipac not configuring when gameex starts in the startup folder. i had to exit and program the keys then get back to gameex.. thanks to headkaze he gave me code that works perfectly in the gameex config/tweaks performance.

type this in the Launch Don't Wait part:

C:\Program Files\WinIpac\WinIpac.exe C:\Documents and Settings\katuuuz\My Documents\Ipac Cfg\config.ipc

obviously change any path names that don't suite your system.

1 - I'm going to try the solution of Katuuuz

2 - I'm registered but I already read on the forum of the Bezel turning on or off and I've tried both but both didn't work out.

- I've got all the filter on no but I've got 2600 roms and when I use Mame 32 I got a little bit more then 100.

- For neogeo and a couple of other games it's a problem that they are really shaky so the screen goes 1 or 2 inches up and down but then 5 times per second, si I don't think I can solve that with the video settings, but I'm a NOOB so I don't know this for sure.

Yes I had the same problem with my ipac. Like the others have said, if you run the config program it will see that something is amiss and will install the drivers again, then everything will be fine. For my setup, I use a different button profile for each emulator and for gamex, so I just added a "launch before" line to the gameex enable/disable menu so that it loads my default profile for gamex everytime gameex runs. It should already be loaded, but it makes sure I have the right layout loaded when gameex starts, and makes sure the drivers load correctly at the same time. You can make a profile by saving your layout in the layout designer. Then use this in your "launch before":

cmd /c "path\winipac.exe path\anyipc.ipc"

Never happened again.
