AndyMcDandy
Hi guys, just wondering, has anyone thought about merging vpdb.io with PinballX for direct table download/install from within either the front end or through the table manager? I think it would be a great feature. What does everyone else think?

scutters
For online users PinballX database manager can give notifications of possible table updates using dux retros spreadsheet data. As different authors build different version of the same tables it's tricky to know what counts as an update, and then there's all the user options in scripts or changes to roms used which would be lost in an auto update. So although i like the idea, i suspect notifications of table updates may be as good as it gets, especially as table authors may not be ok with auto updates.
scutters
Actually, looks like there were some plans a few years ago - https://github.com/vpdb/agent Before my time in the vpin world. Might be abandoned? Probably best off asking in the VPDB forum where @freezy will see it
Tom Speirs
There was a lot of unjustified push back about vpdb,io because of me even though we reached out to all the pinball sites to get them involved and I did not want to damage the project and still don't. Apparently ,I am the devil to some people because I make a few cense from my hobby. Which is why I have not personally implemented it first. But yes, it is possible but I've not looked at it. I worked with Freezy and he got table and list updates working in PinballX several years ago. That is currently dead code but still there.. Its incredibly powerful and has huge potential but like I said there was push back from the pinball site owners and I wanted the project to have a chance because it is really something very special Freezy is the most talented developer I have ever worked with and expect I ever will 1
AndyMcDandy
Wow, that sucks Tom. I noticed in the various pinball discord servers when vpinball went down, the hatred from some on making things easier for the end user.
