ode1979
So i just finish building a game for a friend, now, this particular friend , is an old guy, 53 years old. Now this friend aint no gamer, not even a computer type of guy, so , before i made his game, he went to a another friends house to test the game to see if he really wanted one, and he told me, he feels some input lag on the flippers, the owner does not feel that way.Anyway, today he came to pick up his game, and he insisted that he feels on some games he can feel the lag, you know when you push the button and the flipper acts, he says there is lag. Now i really dont use modern hardware, i5 3rd or 4th gen, amd firepro 512mb,8gb ram. With that kind of hardware, visualpinball runs just fine, vpx a little slow ,fx2 and 3 run fine and futurepinbal runs nice. So he says, that on the fx3 and fx2 and visualpinball, thats where he feels the lag, the other systems that run slow, he says they dont have the lag. Now to be honest, i dont feel a lag on any of them, could it be im used to input lag? my other friend plays just fine too. Or maybe the faster games are to fast for him? what do you guys think? is there something that can be done to slow down the systems that work just fine? thanks for any advice. Can I remind you that 53 us not really old for pinball nerds? Lag can come because of the playfield settings. Or even the response time of your monitor/tv. So, not sure what you use for playfield. Sometimes tv's has a console input setting , that will skip some upscaling chips in the tv, that will goes faster. Nice cabinet btw !

Im 44 by the way, play mame games alot, so i think if there was a real delay i should have noticed...
scutters
You do over time adjust to some level of lag, and some people are more sensitive to it than others. Antialiasing / graphic settings (in game or gpu) may introduce some lag, but usually the main cause is screen processing. Activate the tv's game mode if you haven't already https://displaylag.com/how-to-enable-game-mode-on-your-hdtv/ Even with game mode active some tv's will still have noticeable lag when compared to a good monitor side by side. I think, that he feels lag because he is not fast enough to act on faster games, but he does not feel lag on slower games , so he acts accordin to times on those slower games. Ok.. well give him only old, slow tables . If it is just the feeling, there isn't anything we can do about it

You might need a dvi - vga adatpter for your graphics card, not sure. Otherwise all you can do is go through all the tv's menu options to try and find something like a pc or game mode. mikethinks
Yes, turn off any kind of processing the TV can do if the TV doesn't have a game mode just turn everything off you can find that has to do with image processing.

scutters
Only just noticed this bit; On 2/8/2021 at 6:17 AM, ode1979 said: its a regular 1080p 43 inch tv, i have the settings at 1360x768 playfield It's a while since i used a tv as a monitor, but i'm pretty sure having the playfield screen res set lower than the tv's native res will mean the tv is upscaling to 1080 as well. Probably best to output 1080 to the the tv.
