if i were to buy a usb hub i think it's called. (plugs into 1 USB slot and on the other end of the chord is a box with 4 usb inputs) would that 1 usb port supply enough power to the hub if it had 4 of the retro game zone pads plugged in? http://www.retrousb.com/index.html.

so i can dedicate 1 usb slot to say 4 nes controllers, another to snes controllers, and so on. will that suffice the power needed? i doubt a controller takes much, but didn't want to buy unless i was sure. thanks.

Probably, however you will probably want powered ones as often times there is not enough power coming off the one cable coming out of the computer. You can alwys buy a cheap non-powered one to test it out. I bought a cheap one off of e-bay for about 6 bucks. It worked for some things and not for others, such as my n64 controllers and ps2 controllers. It is all about trial and error.

id recommend a powered usb hub

check the motherboard for extra usb header first though might save you a few £££ :D

I'm inclined to agree with Jay too. Powered USB hubs are great. Specially a usb2.0 hub!

Yes, don't settle for less than a 2.0. If you want to hook up a high speed device in the future you will be SOL (s**t out of luck). However older usb devices should suffice for gamepads and such, I just don't reccomend them.
