[RESOLVED] mame wont play

hello, i'm having an issue on mame when i select a game it tries to start and then just goes back to the menu to select the game. tested mame outside of game ex and worked before and after launching gameex. note this is my other machine and not the one i have an issue tom is looking into, thx. here are my logs. i have the latest version of gameex also running in windows 10.

What version of MAME are you using?

Tried to open runitgame in the data folder but it closes right away from what I can make out it just says error:unknown option

Tom may need to look at this. The log.txt does not provide anything to me and I am unable to replicate.

Let me know how else I can help. It worked a few updates ago and I just got back to it and had to re setup name controls then tried to play to make sure gameex still wasn’t erasing my config and tries to play game then just goes back to menu. Steam works, I was going to try another emulator. These are the normal setup wizard options I’ve used on all my systems. Thanks.

so i setup gameex aracade version 16.73  with my mame .219 and i can get the game to load but not play because everytime it loads mame it erases my default config in mame. i changed that to read only and doesnt erase it but still wont play. this is the same issue i had with gameex back in april that i sent in issues for. so gameex wont load the mame games and arcade edition loads but erases mame config. i am going to try evo next, thx.

ok i got gameex to work by changing advanced mame setting-mame options to -nowindow -joy -skip_gameinfo from '-video d3d -noswitchres -triplebuffer'. this opens the game but same issue as arcade that when it opens a mame game it clears all my config and cant play or even hit tab to set it. so i guess this issue can be closed and should i start a new one for the config issue? thx.

Probably best to provide updated gameex.ini and log.txt files for both GameEx and Arcade Edition and let Tom review. Thanks for your patience and reporting back.

so im wondering if it isnt something to do with my multikeyboard setup. i use ultimarc mini pacs(2 of them). gameex only seems to erase the settings i input for mame. i can still use the keyboard for certain commands in  gameex provided they werent mapped to my keyboards by me in setting up mame outside of gameex. i dont get why it would only erase those and not all mame settings if its erasing them.

just an fyi i was able to setup nestopia for nintendo and it opened and played fine. settings were not erased thx.

ok so i copied over my mame 161 version and added in my 219 version roms, setup mame and put it as an emulator in gameex and all is normal it did not erase my settings like it does with newer versions of mame. is it possible that as an emulator it works but not through the gameex normal mame setup. im guessing it has something to do with mame itself with the newer updates. also i read this was the last version that had mame and mess seperate . do i need to refer to some mame forums or are there people who who are involved. i'll attach files, let me know what else i can do thanks. another note that may help is that when i updated my new machine from 161 to version 196 or so it has never worked right since then either. thought new update this spring to version 219 would do the trick but i guess not yet.

May be an issue with integrated MAME support so please install the version that matches your ROMS. Tom will need to look into this as I am unable to replicate and it may be isolated to your setup. 

Be patient as he has to address this hobby between work and "real life."

The version that matches my roms I have setup in gameex and that’s the issue(version 219). So are you saying try 219 from the emulator setup where I have 161 thx. Also completely understand everyone’s schedules. I’m just trying some things on my own to help out so you all don’t waste your time doing it thx.

ok so i went ahead and setup mame 219 from the emulator section just like i did with mame 161 and all is fine so it only erases settings or wont play from the normal mame setup thx.

The apostrophes in your mame command line should not be there. Was that intentional?

If you have multiple keyboards you need to turn off the bypass disclaimer setting.

Ok Tom that took care of it awesome thank you guys so much. As for the apostrophes. Maybe you were referring to the quotes around rom path. That wasn’t my integrated mame setup that was the mame I set up from the emulator section to test with the default command line. I just added the 64 after mame. Mark it done!!!thx.
