Topper and dmd media displaying problem

Hi everyone. I've tried to display some topper and dmd videos/ images while playing a table. But it's only possible to show images (no videos) after launching a table ,IF i have one video file AND an image file for each topper or dmd. For example: If i have only a Topper Video (hide topper unchecked, topper enabled, file exactly named like the table etc.) it will be displayed until i launch the table. After launching the table there is only a black box. If i have a topper video AND an image file for this table it displays the image after launching a table (it seems the image is placed across the "video" which is only a black box). If I have just an image file, black box too<_<. Videos after launching dont work at all. With dmd's it's the same issue. At the moment i always create a one frame video with movie maker from an image file for tables which have no dmd just to fill the empty dmd section of my third monitor which is splitted in one topper and one dmd section. One possible but relative laborious improvement to deal with this issue. Anyone maybe knows a more simple way? I will attach my ini file later cause i am not nearby my pin at the moment.

I use DMD images and Topper images without a problem, but on separate screens (so that may be the difference). Might be worth disabling the topper to see what happens with DMD images/videos then..   but yeah, attach your ini and log file first.

Can't see any issues in the log/ini...  so try disabling the topper in settings a and see if that has any effect on DMD videos/images in game.

Do the topper and dmd screens work in PinballX, is the issue only after launching a table?

Turning one element off makes no difference unfortunetely. I also found out that the videos will be displayed after launch if i turn off the exclusive fullscreen mode in vpx (but then it stutters almost unplayable), so I think it has something to do with vpx and/or the graphics card or maybe the display arrangement. I think I have to deal with it using a video and an image per table. Thanks for your help scutters .

Strange. Did it have any effect trying static images?.   I use images in Pinballx for DMD and Topper screens, if you attach an example video you're using i'll try it on win10 (might be win7 related?)

Post  a screenshot of your VPX vide settings too.

Edit- also confirm you've got lav codecs installed and grab a screenshot of that config too. Thanks.

and here are the vpx video settings. I can only attach 1 mb per reply so an example video is not so easy. If I use just a static image I get a black box too after launching. It only shows the image after launch if a video is in the topper video directory too, so I always need both, video and static image, to get something displayed while playing. In every other case I get a black box and it doesnt matter if dmd or topper.

Don't worry about posting the video then. I can use images on topper and dmd on separate screens and there's no problem. VPX settings look ok to me, and i guess all screens will be 60hz, so try changing your lav settings to as shown here;

If that doesn't help then it might be a win 7 thing i can't reproduce so hopefully someone else running that OS will chip in.

i had the same problem with certain games and (especially) playing topper video's, can't remember if i had the problem with images. video's stop playing and produce a black screen with some games (i have it with zaccaria also sometimes). Did not find a solution thats why i started using ffplay.exe from ffmpeg to show the topper videos in launch before script and kill the video (ffplay.Exe) in a launch after after script. Same thing i do with backglass pictures and image monitor view especially if you need to rotate the screen (or the game does it on a specific way) it can be a problem as it won't display correctly then.

here is example command line

I seem to remember that but take this with a grain of salt that tom mentioned in a very old topic somewhere that video's stop playing because pinballx goes into an idle state or something when you play game. It was some change some time ago, but i have not tried looking for the topic nor am i certain of this it's just something that comes to my mind when i read this. Unless you guys tried playing a video (not images) while running a game and have no problems as then it can't be true

Just tried a topper and a dmd video running together on my system, with topper and dmd images removed... they continued playing in game no problem (i only played for a minute or two ).

I'm on win10, maybe it is a win7 thing (aero?)...  no idea really. Sorry.
