I'm not sure if I changed a setting in GameEx, but when I launch a MAME game using GameEx Arcade Edition the artwork is missing. When I launch a game directly from MAMEUI64 the artwork shows. See the attached images.

Please, when reporting an issue, attach copies of your gameex.ini and log.txt files. I have an idea as to the issue but without seening these I am only guessing. Thanks.

Either manually change the line in your gameex.ini

EnableBezel=True to

EnableBezel=False

Or go open the Setup Wizard and change the Use Bezel setting under Advanced MAME Settings to Don't Use Bezel

Click the next arrow to save then relaunch GameEx Arcade Edition. The Use Bezel feature is for using custom GameEx bezels only and surpresses the display of the MAME bezels/artwork.

Please report back if this resolves your issue or not. Thanks.

Very odd. You noted that the bezels load when launched through MAME so that would rule-out a configuration issue with MAME itself.

I don't know if the -artwork_crop in your MAME Options may be causing a problem. Can you try deleting that switch, save your change and relaunch GameEx Arcade Edition?

Please report back and attach your file updates - thanks!

Still the same results. It's weird when I open the mame options from within a running game and go to video options i can see the different bezel options. When I try the same from GameEx the options are just gone. Attached are the updated logs.

You should be able to see the bezels available when you hot Tab in game launched via GameEx Arcade Edition. Can you note what version of MAME you are running and attach your mame.ini?

More questions as 0.223 was recently released:

Did you use MAMEUI64 0.222 before 0.223?

If so, were there any issues with the bezels using 0 222?

Posted

Yes, I noticed the issue with 0.222 also. I thought it was because MAME was redoing their artwork system. I noticed by accident recently that it was available on the stand alone MAMEUI64 without GameEx while setting up a test system.

Thanks. I'm still on 0.222 and have no problems with bezels showing. Unless someone else sees something obvious then this may take a bit to get sorted.

Sorry, I see you did. I believe the 60hz refresh features in GameEx are incompatible with MAME artwork in newer versions of MAME because it uses -video d3d. Try turning them off.

So your options are more lag and artwork or less lag and no artwork.

With MAME and other arcade systems, will there be any appreciable lag?  Asking as I haven't noticed so far.

I removed all the options and I still get the same thing. I've also attached the video setting from MAME on a game launched from GameEx and a game launched directly from MAME.

This is strange and I can see from your other post MAME is acting differently when launched from GameEx. I have no idea why. I have never experienced this although have occasionally seen in mentioned.

Please post \data\runitgame.bat

Well, as you can see you still have all those command line options in there?

mame64.exe flyboy -rompath "C:\MAME\roms;C:\MAME\roms\MAME BIOS"  -keyboardprovider dinput -artpath artworkgameex -notriplebuffer -frameskip 0 -syncrefresh -nothrottle -nowaitvsync -video d3d

So nothing has been disabled.

Sorry can we take a step back. I think something is getting lost in translation here. My original issue is still not resolved. The bezels still do not show when I launch a MAME game in GameEx, but when I launch a game with just MAME64.exe they display. See the attached photo from my original post. I have circled in red the bezel which is not displaying when I launch a game. If it helps I can send my who config and data directories for analysis. I have already tried completely uninstalling gameex and restarting from scratch and I'm still getting the same results.

Based on what I see in your logs since you have disabled the two settings and the log shows it but runitgame.bat does not I am 99% certain it now must be a bug in the Virtual Drive plugin.
