I came across this blog post referenced in a build discussion about frame rates. I know it comes up here occasionally so I thought I would share it. The post is over 5 years old and some technologies mentioned may or may not be relevant at this time, but the principles apply none-the-less.

Frame Rate (FPS) vs. Refresh Rate (Hz)

Video demo of various framerates. Youtube only displays at 60 FPS so no difference when viewing 60 vs. 120 FPS.
