button mapping issue

rrobp

Recommended Posts

Just finished my cabinet and the last part is mapping the buttons. I wrote down all buttons mapped in windows game pad settings and inside VP configured it, but when I play a table the buttons are not mapped correctly. Now sure what else to do and can't find answers. I uninstalled driver / reinstalled controller board with no luck. Reinstalled everything, but no go! HELP!

I noticed you want a quick answer, because this same question was posted on different forums.;)

Can you post your log txt and pinballx.ini as attachment?

I thought there was a setting in settings.exe to overwrite it.

In VP all is working right, so withering PBX?

Edit: Did you unchecked "overide default layout" in VP?

Morning Mike,

Cabinet and PC confirming is a lot harder then I thought and def not plug and play lol. I just want it to work in Visual Pinball with no front end and be done haha

overide default layout is unchecked and checked the .ini file for autoconfigure to be false fixes issues, but both settings are correct.

I moved the pineballx.ini file to my desktop by accident where do I put that back?

C:\PinballX\Config?

Yes.

Do the buttons work in visual pinball when you launch a table directly (outside pinballx)?

Visual Pinball settings right?.. check that box and try that

Post a screenshot of your visual pinball key/joy settings if still no luck

it was the easiest part for me :P. I first setup a pc without a joystick controller. Just setup visual pinball with keyboard.  If that was saved I added my vpin controller. I setup the buttons as I wanted and added that to the config of visual pinball.

maybe post a screenshot at @scutters mentioned of your vp settings. That must help

scutters suggestion to enable button overide worked! Every forum and person said to uncheck because it breaks front ends... I guess time will tell lol

Glad it worked for you, no idea why it would break a front end. Post back if you need get any problems with the pinballx setup!
