anyone know if a way exists (with the amazing things i've learned here, i'm thinking anything's possible) to have your desktop show a different (random) desktop image on each boot? I got the mame bootskin, but the desktop shows afterwards for a second or 2 before start up launches game ex. I was thinking with the few seconds of seeing the desktop screen I'd flash the message "Please wash your hands" with a funny picture above it. for example i have a hilarious pic of this fat kid washing his hands, and one of a guy mid-biting a buffalo wing with grease all on his hands. if i can have windows randomly display these images with the wash hands i think it'd turn the 2 seconds of seeing windows into 2 seconds of laughter, keeping my machine clean.

fingers crossed,

There are heaps of apps that can do that. Do a search on Google for +daily +wallpaper +changer +random things like that should bring up something.

Also, you can use Tom's Instant Shell util to completely hide windows desktop and icons.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Policies>System

If there's a DisableStatusMessages dword there, change it to 1, otherwise add it and change it to 1. This will get rid of the "loading your settings" and "shutting down windows", etc.

This assumes you have it set to autologin a user.

Also to change the login background color:

HKEY_USERS>.DEFAULT>Control Panel>Colors>Background

It's a 3 digit RGB Color. Black is 0 0 0 .

I prefer these to instant shell, since IS makes it so that if you exit GameEx you are left with nothing. I think you can CTL ALT DEL to start explorer, but I didn't want to do that. Your choice :)

Remember in GameEx config there is Launch upon exit parameter which you can state Explorer.exe so if you use Instant sheller and enable this when you close gameex you have your windows interface back at your finger tips.

That's true...I hadn't thought about that. Good call. I will change to using that :)
