Hi all :P:lol: I thought i'll let you all no that the LCD Top Gun works a treat on my cab.

I just squeeeesed! the sensor's between the monitor and the cab. Had to make a new seround for the monitor and cut some slots for the gun to see the sensors. To finish the overall look of the cabinet

I mounted the monitor level with the front of the cab. (made it much easer to clean the monitor)

no need for plexi glass!

Here's a pic or two to see what you guys think!! B)

PS,

Keep up the good work Tom!!

Wow!!! Love the huge screen and metallic t-moulding. Love the whole look!

Got enough system buttons lol They would be handy as hell though.

Maybe it's the huge screen or something but it has to be one of the best looking cabs I've ever seen!

:) WOW thanks headkaze, the monitor is just a standard TV with S-Video and scart RGB (handy for the game cube). I would recommend the LCD Top gun but it can a bit fiddley tryin to fix the two sensors then calibrating "PAIN" but well worth it.

Thanks for the kind words Headkaze.:lol:

Pic of the cube in the coin door!!!

I agree with Headkaze, thats a sweet looking cab. I have 2 questions though. Where are your speakers mounted? Do the LCD Topgun's LEDs as seen in picture 3 stay on all the time? I've seen this question asked many times but never saw an answer.

Thanks

hi jay T

the lights on the side are not lit up there infred so your eye's

will not see them but any camra can pick it up.

speakers,

mounted at the top of the cab middle and back 7.1 way over top I no but as a juke box it can pump the tunes nice!!!

the rear speakers fitted to the back of the cab are angled 45 degrees

so they rebound for the souround.

thanks Jay T there is a good site i use for the arcade art work.

It's catalog of art work is allways growing so give a go see what you think!

http://www.localarcade.com/arcade_art/

I live in the UK and a good friend of mine has a 6 foot printer which can print stright to sticky poliy vinel

it can get a little pricey but the over all look beat's painting!!

he can print anything, he did all my art on my cab. (it took about 45 mins to cover the cab)

all my arcade cabinets can have fully customized art work well worth it.

If any one is intrested just give me a email i will be happy to help.

Thanks

Wish I had of made my cab a bit more curvy in design like yours Rusty. I'm still very happy with mine, I kinda went for the "authentic cab style". I also had to add an extra bit of bulk under my CP for the keyboard drawer but I wanted to be able to access a keyboard in mine.

I love the side art and overall colour/look of it. The only thing I would have done differently is try to get those speakers in there some how. I notice there are two speakers on the side too. But the unfortunate side effect of having my speakers above the monitor is the slight discolouration on the corners of the monitor from the magnetic field. One day I'm going to rip out the old 21" CRT and put in a 21" LCD in there (when they're cheap enough).

:P Hi headkaze the speakers i use are the Creative Inspire T7900 - PC multimedia home theatre speaker system. cost 58 pounds OEM from ebuyer UK , pluss there mag shilded so no probs with the 28" screen.

I fitted the speakers to the top so it would throw the sound out when turned up full (for the juke box side of things+ movies)

key board draw was tight but just fitted under the control deck pic below.

hi

i think my lcd topgun is broken, because i cant turn off the recoil function and it keeps messing up my usb,

can you tell me how you are meant to turn the recoil function off please so i can check im doing it right,

thanx gerble1000

hi gerble1000 there are two usb connection's for the top gun just unplug

one or the other usb

one usb for the recoil and one for the gun

you should also check that your usb on your PC is giving out 5V

i had to change USB jumpers on my motherboard to give full voltage

because the top gun can draw a tad over 5V

Wow, Im really impressed with how smooth the artwork looks. I'm playing with the idea of putting graphics on mine, but I'm afraid it will come out lumpy or not stick real well. I used a latex based paint on my cab and I read at classic arcade graffix where I bought my marquee and CP artwork that you should only apply the sticky vinyl to oil or acrylic based paint so I'm screwed now unless I sand the paint off the sides.

lightley sand the serface and paint on or spray PVA glue it will dry clear

then you will have a shiny serface to stick your vinel.

got to admit i do this to new MDF to give it a quick easy serface to work with! then it stick's like shit to a stick!!!lol

befor you aply the vinel litely spray water with just a smij of sope helps get the bubbles out.

Then I use a rubber roller starting at the top of cab and slowly work your way down pelling the backing

6 to 9 inches at a time then roll up to the backing it will push the moisture out so dont worry!

if you dont have a roller you can use a scraper but you must fold a duster or soft cloth around the tip.

hope that helps?? :lol::lol:

i like how you incorporated the wheel. i'll take note of this incase i make another cab for driving games. my new goal is to make different size, style cabs for each emulator. for N64, have the keys designed like the controller... stick in the midle d pad stick on the left and the diamond of c buttons yellow of course. i think it would be sweet to have them lined up in a room in the house. even though you only need 1 and you can fit just about everything.

I have an LCD TOp GUn as well, and I notice your cab is situated near a window. Does the light from the window not interfere with your gun?

Also - is that a TV, PC Monitor, or Arcade monitor in your cab?

My LCD TopGUn hasn't been very useful at all yet - although I'm using a wellsgardner - and the two aren't real happy with eachother.
