31st August, 2006 - GameEx 6.72

Random game can now launch goodmerge games

Quicker Screensaver exit and less wait between games

Slightly quicker startup and exit from games

Screenaver should now properly clear keyboard buffer

Fixes possible sound fx issues as audio files are now properly disposed of before reloading

If an advanced emulator config is used and a key set to exit, now if the application does not exit it will be forced to

For registered users its now possible to run other emulators in attract mode (turned on by default)

Wow, that was weird. I downloaded GameEx (6.71) and installed it just now and when I ran it, it asked if I wanted to download the new version (6.72). I don't know how you do it Tom, but thanks for all the updates.

Hmm I'm a little worried about the attract mode supporting other emulators. I know some games I have don't work and crash the emu's, so I'm wondering how it will cope. I know you probably just force the process to end after a while anyway. I've just run auto-update, so I guess I'll leave it running and see what happens.

I hope you treat yourself to a pint or two after every major update ;)

Thanks Headkaze.

I think thats why I held off on doing it before. Ill probably not have it turned on by default in the future, although for now it gets it tested. I've got the emulator launching code pretty solid so when the emulators do crash, unless its not system wide compeltely screwing up windows, gameex should still run quite happily along. I think yourll find most of the time even when they crash GameEx should still be running OK.

We'll see.

Cheers,

Tom

is there a way to have the screen saver just show a slideshow of your screens/titles/box art/cartridge/marquee etc. for every emulator? that'd be nice.

PANT! PANT! PANT!

(eyes wide open, almost falling out of their sockets!)

COOL!! I just HAVE to get this latest download and give it a try! This is like gonna be soooo cool now! :)

Were you able to look at my request about that zoom feature? Something else you could look into is getting that feature to work globably and not just on the Start Menu.

YAY FOR TOM!

Noticed this just now (current release is 6.76). On the screensaver mode, it looks like the option for 'MUTE EMULATORS" is not working right. It's default mode is NO, but there are no sounds coming through any of my emulators. You may have typo'd something in the code there.

I love the attract mode! Absolutely love it!

Turned my cab on and went to bed and woke up to the PaRappa the Rapper intro sequence - thought I was still dreaming! :D

One small suggestion however...

Make it possible to enable/disable each emulator.

Emulator 1 Enabled=True

Emulator 2 Enabled=False

etc.

Also a way to press a key in screensaver mode to add that particular game to a list of 'Don't Launch' games or whatnot.

Should maybe post this in the feature thread, but more of a tweak than a suggestion I feel.

Still awesome though! Best feature yet IMO! :D

Absolutely love what you've done with the jukebox too! Never saw the need to add my 200gb of mp3s until now. :)

You said everything I wanted to say!!

However this does push me to fix my broken emulators

A+++ Tom, great update.

Looks OK to me. Can you double test?
