After I upgraded manually to GameEx 15.20, the video snaps - only mame - are not working anymore. I replaced the LAV codecs with no success. All other emu video snaps are working.

Also key settings not working as before. Is anything change with the database?

Any ideas?

Hi. Where did the MAME videos originate from? How are the key settings not working?

Could you please post your log?

Attach Log.txt and gameex.ini files when reporting an issue. Yours may not be the same as what is being reported but your files may confirm for certain.

Dear Tom, I meanwhile upgraded to 15.22 - same issue. I also tried some other video codecs with no success. Videos play fine otuside Gameex. It is not only related to Mame, also my NES videos are not playing, gameboy videos are running well - seems to be a different sourcce/encoding. Can you please check, because in the old Gameex everything was running well! Thanks

Hi, again, where did the videos come from? Maybe upload a couple that are not working? Do you have codecs installed?

I notice the ArcadeVGA and that you are running at 30hz. What kind of display do you have?

Dear Tom,

unfortunately the update GameEx install is also not working. I use the latest LAV codecs on my system, and everything worked fine before your latest update. I got all the media files on a harddisk from a fried, so I do not know the source or the capturing parameters exactly. I have a Sega Naomi cabinet with with Sanwa 29E31S (I guess multisnyc) monitor. The videos are running, if I install a player (e.g. X-Codec pack). I have attached two videos from my mae folder. The mame games are running fine (emulator setting still OK). I had problems with the key setting to control the main menu. All settings were as before, but the buttons and the second joystick did not work. The first joysitck is also installed as "Joystick" instead of key mapping. This worked!

Edit: I tried "Windows Media Player" here I find the same issue with the videos: sound yes, video no. But X-Codec player is working fine. Maybe the video format is outdated?

Another solution is, that you give me GameEx 2.50, that worked like a charm. Unfortunately, I have deleted the setup.

Thanks for your help!

Torsten

X-Codec pack is probably your issue. It installs codecs on your system and may stop Lav from working.

The issue is almost certainly codec related. I know where those videos came from. They should play fine.

The latest release should fix the keyboard issue. It was released after.

Dear Tom, thank you very much. I installed the lastest version - the keys are working again, but the codecs not. I deinstalled all codec packs on my machine and searched with codec sniper. There was nothing unusual. I cleaned up the registry. Still no success. Everything came with you last update. None of my videos are working. Sorry!

Hey guys, big GameEx fan here, thanks very much Tom!

I've been having a similar problem since the last update but it was also a big Windows update time for this computer too.  I'm using GameEx Arcade and everything else is totally normal and working a-ok as usual except for the Mame .mp4 videos.  I don't think it's a GameEx thing though, I can't get them to work in Windows Media Player either, just like above I get audio but a black screen, same as inside GameEx Arcade.  All the other console's videos are working normally, it's just the Mame .mp4 that are black with audio.

Uninstalled and updated the LAV codecs, tried the Shark ones, tried the Windows Media Pack ones, can't get the .mp4 videos to work in Media Player. They play fine in VLC.  And they played fine in GameEx for the last year too.  In December there was a GameEx update that did a similar thing, black videos with audio for the Mame snaps, but then a few days later the subsequent update fixed it.

But then yesterday I did a big many months overdue Windows update along with the GameEx Arcade update and probably hosed up other stuff on this ol' Dell..

I feel like it's a codec thing though.. any other tips to try?

PS - Thanks very much to Draco1962 for the awesome Arcade theme, it's perfect, couldn't ask for a better background for my arcade!

Hi Tom, I went back to the old install you provided and everything runs fine. So it is NOT a windows issue.

However, thanks for your help. I have a working version of GameEx.

Those particular videos do require codecs and your right that windows media player does not play them but they should work fine if you have codecs installed with GameEx. There should be no issue with them as long as codecs are installed. I really don't know what it could be at this point but can confirm the op was using the same videos. You should post your log anyway though.

Same problem for me, everything after 15.20 does not play video snaps, but before does?

If you are having the same issue, can you attach a copy of your gameex.ini file? Also, Tom will need to know what codecs you have installed and the format/source of your video snaps.

Hi, just saying it does not work for you does not help to fix the issue. We already know a few folks have an issue. Please try to add additional detail and files if you have a problem.

Thanks.

Tom.

I released a new version today that does fix videos not playing for one person. I`m not convinced its the same issue but please try it out and let me know.

Thanks.

Tom.
