Hello All,

New to the Vpin hobby, and am having an issue where my backglass stills refuse to show up at table selection.

I have a 3 screen setup and the backglass shows up during gameplay. I have the table names identical to the media files and everything else shows except the backglass.

Am i missing something.

Hello rablack97, welcome to the PinballX forums.

You need to provide some detail so everyone can see what you've got going on in order to attempt to help you resolve your issue.  See the link in my sig if you need help locating these!

Does it show ANYTHING at all on the backglass? Like a pinball x logo picture or anything. By default, if there is nothing else to show, you should at least see something there when in Pinball X.

Check your monitor layout and the ID numbers for your screens. Sometimes things get mixed up between windows and other programs. I have my playfield as 1, backglass as 2, dmd as 3.

Also, make sure the pictures are in PNG format. JPG pics don't show up at all for me.

Have your Pinball X config file attached, and also I think a log file. (Draco, knows the ones you need) It helps so that myself and others can see what may be going on. Glad to see you here BTW!

I noticed that you have your playfield screen as rotated=90. I have mine set to rotate=270.

How are your screens orientated? I have the bottom of my playfield TV screen facing to the left (and this is how most people do as well). I have NO rotation settings for the playfield screen in windows display settings.  This is how you want to be setup as this is the most common layout for FP and VP.

I also noticed that you have your backglass as monitor 2 and your dmd as monitor 1 (in Pinball X) . You may want to have your backglass as monitor 1 (in pinball x) and dmd as monitor 2 (in Pinball X). (This is how I have mine)

So, try setting up your playfield as I said above:

-then re-connect (on your video card connectors) / arrange you screens so that your backglass is screen 2 in windows (1 in pinball x), and your dmd is screen 3 in windows (2 in pinball x)

-make sure your screens in windows are positioned correctly. This is how I have mine for FP and VP. Its important to have your playfield (1) to the left and the backglass (2) to the right. The DMD screen (3) is positioned this way only for me because of the specific layout I use for FP. Everyone else has their dmd screen to the right of the backglass screen.

-then make sure FP is using the correct screen for your backglass now that you have changed it around.

-confirm Pinball X has your screens correct now.

The screen order ID and layout does make a difference. Be sure they are not getting changed at any point. I had a glitch in the windows registry where it kept re-arranging my display ID's and the software was getting confused. Once I deleted those settings in the registry, and re-connected my screens in proper order, all was good again.

Always 1 (in windows). then Pinball X will see that automatically as the playfield screen (0 in pinball X). Make sure that your playfield is your PRIMARY screen as well.

I think this is my problem, where did you do this?

Just to clarify...the physical bottom of the TV is on your left when looking at it while playing.

That same screen (1 in windows, 0 in pinball x) is the screen on the left with NO rotation settings in windows, but has rotation set to=270 in pinball x.

Yah, windows was messing with my monitor IDs. It has to do with monitor discovery getting messed up.

Unplug your other 2 screens, and just leave the playfield plugged in. Then follow the directions on this page

http://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/736116-windows-display-properties-identify-numbers-are

After that, you should plug-in your other screens in order, then all should be good.   I have my TV going to my DVI connector, my backglass going to my HDMI, and my DMD screen going to a display port. This kept my screen orders correct after doing the fix above.

This was a really frustrating problem to fix.

I'm also running Windows 10 for everything, no issues with Pinball X.

Confirm that your screen ids are correct in windows (pf=1,bg=2,dmd=3) and that Pinball X is configuring them correctly (pf=0,bg=1,dmd=2).

Make sure your backglass resolution is correct and the same in PBX and windows.

Make sure that Pinball X is set to rotate=270

Try just plugging in only your playfield and backglass screens and see if you get any change.

Its not a screen problem, its a table match problem, i switched the screens and the playfield shows up on display 2 and the display 1 is a black screen.

I'm just gonna do a fresh install tomorrow with all of your notes and see if that fixes the problem.

ok fresh Pinball X install, backglass screens still not showing.

For backbglasses not matched with a table I am getting the default backglass overlay.

OK, good.  You now have the default backglass pic showing in Pinball X, so we know Pinball X is working with your backglass screen.

Are there ANY backglass images showing at all?

Do you have your backglass images in your "Media / Future Pinball / Backglass Images" folder?

Are they in PNG format?

Do the backglass image filenames match the Future Pinball TABLE filenames exactly?

Do you have playfield and wheel images showing up? If so, then name your backglass images EXACTLY the same as them.

1. Nope

2. Yes

3. Yes, downloaded from the Pinball X FTP

4. Yes

5. Yes, playfield and wheel images show up perfectly.

I don't know if they are just being hidden behind something that's creating that black screen.

I've even switched it so the BG shows on the main playfield and it shows all black there too.

Wow... I really am at a loss at this point. I don't know what else could be the issue.

Try disabling "File Matching" in Pinball X "General settings". Don't know if this will help, but I have mine disabled and I noticed you had it enabled in your above post.

After that, I don't know what else to say....try getting some video clips for your backglass and see if you have the same issue. (make sure you have the LAV codecs installed)

really odd, it's working now, but the hard way.

I will not pick up the backglass unless i use the import by online function.  For some reason, it won't pick it up by same table name, i have to physically assign the backglass to a file or use the import function.

That IS weird... I've never used the import function. I honestly keep forgetting there is such a function! :)

Hopefully this is a known bug?

Anyone?
