[RESOLVED] Real DMD issue with PinballX

Hi Team -

 

Wondering if anyone has seen this issue before. I have a two monitor setup plus a real dmd display. I have a bunch of dmd videos/images.etc loaded into pinballx.  When I open pinballx the first time, i can see the dmd display either the video, image, or default pinballx video for the game i selected. Once i select a different game, the DMD goes blank and nothing is displayed.  If i enter a game, the DMD works (assuming its setup for that game). When i exit the game, the DMD works again in Pinball X for the game that was just exited, but again when i move to another game, it stiops working again.  Anyone have any ideas?

switched to windows 8, issue is gone..loving pinballx so far

Glad to know you got it sorted. While some will chafe at upgrading from XP, it is getting harder to troubleshoot issues on those systems with GPUs and other kit designed optimally for Win 7 and above.

I did run across a similar behavior when jumping between Pinball FX2 and Virtual Pinball tables.  Specifically when using dmdext with the -q option.  I suspect there's a race condition between dmdext and pinballx where dmdext doesn't detect that FX2 has exited and relinquish control of the dmd quickly enough. When you return to pinballx the dmd is blank in attract mode, but jumping to a vp table grabs the dmd ok and pinballx is again able to write to it on return.  Only a minor annoyance because everything works great otherwise.

 

Somethng to consider if there are plans to better integrate dmdext for FX2 and PBA...
