Good evening people.

 

I have a very peculiar problem, and I need somehelp :)

 

Sometimes when I launch game EX I get a black screen. I can hear the Game EX intro music but after that I am not even able to hear the curser move when I try to navigate blind. Also the ESC key does not work, I have to literally CTRL+ALT+DEL and end task via task manager to exit game EX.

The odd thing is this happens randomly per boot, as in the only way to get it to work is to restart my PC until it works.

 

I did a forum search and found nothing related.

 

Any ideas?

I've experienced this, and I after using task manager to kill the process a couple times, I just decided to just let it go one day.  I'm pretty sure I went down and had breakfast, but the sounds where still there even though the screen was frozen.  When I returned, it was running as normal.  I have no idea what caused it to delay like this, and I've perhaps experienced this on a couple more occasions.  For lack of a better solution, you may want to just wait it out, and if it comes up, change your theme, exit GameEx, shutdown and cold boot.  This was several months back, but that's what I did, and I've not seen this issue since.

I'm still on 8.1 on my GameEx rig, not 10, but these two OS's are close enough to share something odd that may be causing this randomly.  Regardless, even though it's a bit of a shot in the dark, it's a pretty easy one to give a go!

I Updated to the latest version of Game EX and for now I can say the problem has not occurred again.

 

I will leave this thread open for a little longer incase it re-emerges.

 

On a sidenote, Iwas unable to get gameex autoupdate to work so I did it manually. Is the below page the place I use to enable autoupdate? (by putting in my username & password)

There's another section that asks if you want to auto update. I believe it's a few screens before this one, but I'm not at home to check.
