the freedowrapper.zip file linked from the 3do config files listed here is a bust link. Anyone got a copy or a lik to this? I'll be happy to host a copy on my server for future downloads.

that is awesome man - thanks so much

This seems to be a virtual pinball file renamed, based on what the config file looks like when you open it.... I'll do some more research, but its not doing crap for me right now.

Research tells me that the freedowrapper will mount images using dameon tools... which is odd since freedo can play games straight from iso format (like gens). Mounting the image doesn't really seem to serve a purpose at that point.

That strangenes aside, the config file packaged with that "freedowrapper" linked above only has two config lines - one for the working directory, and one for the exe file.

When run it simply does nothing, no error messages, no nothing.

Anyone got a suggestions?

Try this link http://www.consolia.com/filez/emu.zip it has freedowrapper inside

I appreciate the second link man.

It looks like it may actually just be the same file - as in, the freedowrapper just calls whatever program is mentioned in the config.

Im getting the same issue as before though. After freedowrapper starts, nothing happens - no error messages, no crashes, nothing. I usually just have to alt-f4 to kill it.

the test batch file I'm using has the following syntax:

freedowrapper.exe D:\Emulation\3DO\ROMS\quarantine.iso

now, somewhere I read something about needing dameon tools for it to mount the image. Since freedo can load iso's without them being mounted (like Gens), then it sems like mounting the image and all is extraneous. I also don't know which exact version of dameon tools I would need.

The config file loaded under user config here on the site simple shows the syntax I used in my above example - no external program calls or bat files.

Anyone here got anything useful? Thanks!

I believe the wrapper is used to open the emulator in full screen and exit with escape.

Your config is the exact same as mine.

Would you mind eamiling me a copy of your freedowrapper? Also, could you either email or post the contents of your freedowrapper.cfg file?

email = [email protected]

Appreciated.

I have tried running it with xp svp 2 and media center, no luck on either end.

I also installed force aspi since freedo was giving me aspi init errors on startup.

Ive also made sure to have all the dll files associated with that emu.zip file above in the proper directories.

Throughout all of this however, freedowrapper just sort of hangs and never really does anything. Its extremely dissapointing.

Based on the config file in the emu.zip linked above, and that guys instructions, it sounds like everything should be working.

I will not rest until Way of the Warrior plays on my cab! lol

I have attached a zip file containing freedo, wrapper and the cfg file. Open the cfg file in notepad, amend the path to wherever the emulator is on your computer and make sure the GameEx config is EXACTLY the same as the one I posted earlier in this thread.

If this dosent work then I am not sure why.

Maybe if you are using a back-up iso then it maybe a bad image.

One last thing Freedo requires a bios image to run properly. Google fz10_bios.rom and you should find what you are looking for.

I appreciate the info man. y freedo runs fine when i run it by itself - i have the aspi drivers and bios all loaded up. the game also plays fine when loaded through freedo, so I know my images are ok.

I have talked to a couple of people, including John Crouse (the guy who programmed freedowrapper) and have found that it is very finnicky about what systems it will run on. The guy who runs Uncle Teds pinball emu site said it refused to work for months for him, and then one day - bam - it worked.

John poitned me to a program called Closemu, which seems to be designed to be a front end wrapper for any emulator. Its highly customizable, but not very clear on how to do it exactly.

I figure once I get it all down, I'll post my findings here. It should be really helpful to anyone who needs a wrapper for any emulator that either doesnt have command line settings or needs iso images mounted before hand 9ather then using messy batch files)

ok - I got closemul working with the 3DO and gameex - I posted a working config and download link under the user config section. I hope some of you guys find this useful - i have been on a mission to get this to work for a while now.

Sorry to bring up an old topic like this but i tried this method with closemul and it all works fine IF i leave out the "F4" command. Config can be found in the config section of the gameex forums. If i do it with closemu it works but there's no full screen as i cant use the "f4" command, anybody got an idea how to bypass this?

I am using freedo 1.9, this is my Closemul info. I think I had to add the wait 1000 in the automation steps, as the program wasn't quite ready without it.

Automation=FreeDO (Phoenix Sources - 35.1%)

Automation Steps=wait 1000,ALT+F,ENTER,FILE,ENTER,wait 1000,ALT+C,ENTER,ENTER,wait 1000,F4
