tthurman Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Please ensure you don't have Raptr running as part of the Catalyst control suite, it's known to cause crashing issues. 1 Quote

TheMug Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 I don't have Raptr running, and i shut off UAC, and it still crashes... the error says "illegal characters in path"It was running last time i ran it a couple weeks ago, and now it just does this. Quote
Adultery Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Can you first disable plugins, then disable emulators one at a time? It's something to do with a file path somewhere, most likely an emulator exe. Quote
TheMug Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 Ok, disabled plugins, still crashes, disabled emulators, still crashes. Quote
RedDog Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 This sounds like something that has happened to me before as well. I would actually suggest reinstalling GameEx over your existing copy.If you go this route, but be sure to back up your config data first (just to be safe). Quote
TheMug Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 Ok, i reinstalled over top, and it still crashed... so i uninstalled, and reinstalled on my C: drive instead of my D: drive, where it was originally, and it works again. So i don't know what it was, but it works again.Note: Ok, when i copied over all my main ini file, it still worked, but when i copied over all the other configs, it went back to the same error, so something is mucked up in one of the other configs in my install.... RedDog Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Your config is REALLY different than mine, but I tried testing it anyway.I found that when I disabled Daphne, I was able to get it to load. This is odd because from what I can tell in the log, Daphne appeared to load fine. Shot in the dark, but you may give it a try anyway. If that is actually it, then at least the issue has been narrowed down. The other thing I see in the log is that it failed after loading the Custom Emulators. I don't see anything wrong with the paths myself, but you might recheck your path configs to be safe. 2 Quote

Just one bad rom can mess up the whole process. Remove the bad rom/roms and try again.A good example is the "CarnEvil" bug. It's been a "bad" rom for some time, (only because someone put an illegal character in it's description) but once aware just remove it and everything is fine You may be experiencing something similar. 1 Quote
