New Alpha Emu Background files

Hi people,

I've made some background files, for the emulators there's 29 backgrounds, one for each emu plus some more (i dont know how, cos i thought there was around 25). Its worth setting them up, it adds a bit of eye-candy to GameEx

There's 3 sets; blue, red & olive; blue probably looks the best, here's some screens:

Here's all of the images grouped without the glow:

(I know the text in the middle is cheesy, but i thought it might be useful for night's site).

Iv'e uploaded the zip file to the server, i saved the three sets into the one zip, because its only 8.4mb. It will be around when either Tom or Night can spare a moment.

Alpha Emulator Icons Pack:

I've just uploaded the emulator icons which were used for the backgrounds. Thought you might want them for the sake of consistency.

They need to be placed in the logos section of the theme folder.

yes you did make it alot easier for me

i have removed the "Thumbs.db" from the zip file becouse it took 90kb nothing big but no point in having it

im adding it to the site as im writting this ..

thanks for the icons, but they are too low res for my system (1024x576) - although on the tv they sorta look ok. gameex seems to stretch icons, yes?

i've been trying to find decent quality pics, making my own pngs. but im not so great with photoshop.. its the edges that are tricky..

the icons are quite small alright, i sized them for the themes which are 800x600, so gameex wouldnt have to shink/enlarge them.

I'll make them again without resizing, so people can use them for other themes

I think that Night might be repacking the aplha themes, so the backgrounds & icons are included with the rest of the theme, so it'll be around in a while.

Night: if you prefer, i can just resubmit the 3 themes packed with the new stuff. It can be a bit confusing, there's quite a lot of files

have now encluded all custom Backgrounds and repacked

anyway just redownload the 3 themes on the themesite and you are good to go

Is there any way to get the Alpha Themes in 640x480? I want to run them in my arcade cab but my D9200 gets too fuzzy when running 800x600. I would even be willing to pay a llittle fee for the work.

I actually had a similar problem, but I just ended up increasing the size of the text in the config utility and it works nicely.

I know what you mean about the errors I tried to convert it when you posted before, but gave up! Just about managed to squeeze it all in though.

Updated method of using Custom backgrounds (different from readme.txt)

Sometimes when you change themes the 'arrowup.png' is displayed instead of a normal background (when using a different theme), also Gameex can forget which backgrounds to use for the alpha's. To fix this, add the emulator background to the 'theme.ini' instead of using the config app.

Open the 'theme.ini' & add the emulator number & corresponding background (at the end of the theme.ini works fine). here's an example of what to add:

Ok they're done, there's a set of backgounds & icons for each theme colour + improved toolbar buttons.

Amos, I too would really like to find those icons in hi-res. I have a bit of time now and would really like to start making themes again. Any info would be much appreciated.

All done, there's 41 emu icons (thats my stash cleaned out ), they vary in size, but most are large, so will need to be resized depending on how you want to use them. They've all been cleaned & are on transparent backgrounds, but you might want to add a background colour, just to check for rogue pixels. There's only two emus i couldn't find, n64 & snes, you'd think there would be loads around, but i couldn't find any good ones.
