katuuuz
Hey all. Hope everyone's doing good tonight. So I've made my way back into the Theme editor since when it came out. Liiiiitttle rusty. So basically, I remember all the .bak pngs reflect backgrounds, etc. I'm having trouble eliminating, or even hiding a few objects. Firstly, is it even possible to say, hide the weather on mame page, but have it display on start? I clicked the eye in the editor and it hides it on the editing screen, but still shows when I launch gameex with my theme. I don't want pics or the menu bar (change theme, exit) there either. Please refresh my memory!
Draco1962
I recommend giving the Theme Editor Questions thread a good read as many of your questions are likely answered there.
RIP-Felix
In the templates window choose "Mame" and "Mame select." Click on the weather's box in the main layout window. Then set the X or Y value in the properties window to somthing out of frame (say 2000). It will load as it does in start, but will be outside the window (essentialy invisible without disabling it altogether). The same can be done with most of the other elements.

DazzleHP
+1 @ RIP-Felix, this is a good trick to making things 'disappear'. However if you want custom backgrounds, modules, and for things to truely disappear (using the 'eye') you'll need to enable custom modules in your theme. This will enable you to specify different layouts, on specific screens. All you have to do is load your theme in the editor, click Edit in the top horizontal menu, choose Options (at the bottom) then in the box that pops up choose the Settings Tab. Find 'Custom Module Layouts' and check it, or put a tick in it. Now each screen or 'page' will be independent Study this menu well, it holds a lot of keys

katuuuz
Hmm enabled custom modules, clicking the eye on objects hides them, I save theme then launch gameex but they are still visible??
Draco1962
Which objects are still showing? Did you follow the suggestion to place the x and y coordinates outside of the dimensions of your theme as was previously suggested?
katuuuz
Which objects are still showing? Did you follow the suggestion to place the x and y coordinates outside of the dimensions of your theme as was previously suggested?Yeah, I've tried that, and I still have to see the menu zip all the way across and off the screen. I ticked the box in the options/settings tab to allow for the custom layout module like Dazzle suggested, and there is no effect in gameex when I click the 'eye' to 'hide' things. Looking to rid myself of the Title, weather, menu, date, time, and arrows. I can hide the buttons, weather, title in the config, i know.. but that damn menu... Draco1962
FIrst thing I noticed is that you are NOT following the instructions given previously by several of us. Do not click the EYE! Set your X and Y coordinates outside of your intended resolution! I.E., Load your theme into the Theme Editor, then click on Menu in the display. Next, in the left column, enter 801 in X and 601 in Y, then enter 1 in both the H and W sections. Click Save and then load GameEx. Your Menu bar will no longer appear in view.
DazzleHP
Agreed! If your screen is bigger then just use X=3,000 and Y=2,000 to be safe. You must know what we are getting at by now.
Draco1962
I picked 801x601 since his theme is 800x600. Gawd, my Sammy did not like trying to downscale the BGs I was testing with...
DazzleHP
I was just about to explain...If you want to get rid of modules, your best bet is to get rid offscreen. They will allways be there but you can remedy this too. Talk to me
katuuuz
Ok finally got it. Apologies gentlemen. I manually had to go into gameex.ini and enable cusom modules to get the seperste module.ini files in my theme folder. Doing so in the GUI didn't give me all the .ini files. Also I HAD tried setting it off screen, but I would still see the menu scoot from the left and go off screen to the right. Did it again and now it's finally gone. Not going to ask why or how, just going to smile and let it be. I guess it's resolved, so seal it up.And thanks for bearing with me guys 😊
