They keep the old releases available in their source format so yo can compile your own. I honestly haven't used the binaries in so long that I didn't notice they don't archive them, but apparently not.

I'm in the same boat as Draco, given the changes post 0.161, the complete inclusion of systems, software lists, etc., and so on, I'm staying put for the foreseeable future, but others here keep up to date.

That said I'm at the proverbial "end of the rope" with suggestions with the exception of the one below.

As far as what you are experiencing, I can't help but wonder if hanging during update isn't a dat problem, or lack thereof. I'm thinking along the lines of carnevil bug type problems that are a direct result of dat related issues.

At the lower part of Advance MAME Settings you'll see a place for ini's and dat's. Do you have any, or perhaps have paths to older versions of them already on your machine? If so, this could be the culprit to the update hanging crash.

If you just pulled down 0.164b.exe,, then you have none.

You'll just need to ensure the correct path to it is in the setup wizard. Obviously due to the nature of USB, this is subject to change over time, or perhaps not if you never unplug the drive.

Hi Guys,

just thought I would let you know that GameEx is up and running sweetly now I must say thanks to all those who contributed especially tthurman who's patience and dedication got me to the finish line have been busy playing the classics. I'm not sure why it didn't work but I did an update and went from scratch regarding the update list, I knew it wasn't the GameEx software as it worked perfectly before I must have gone wrong in the early stages which had a knock on effect. As you say get it working outside GameEx first then it will fall into place.

Many Thanks Again!
