Sorry guys, i've spent hours sifting through the different topics on this, messing around with mappings and have attempting every solution mentioned. Attaching my configs. Here's my deal:

Hitting P on the keyboard during game to pause and hitting P again does resume... no problems. When i use a button on my cab assigned to P, the first time I hit the button it does take me to the pinballx menu giving me the option to stop playing or go back to the game..... However, when i attempt to go back to the game i see the vp "resume, quit, edit script" menu and can do nothing at this point.

Also worth mentioning, the button #'s inside the pinballx setup end up showing different than what's assigned in vp keys settings. As an example, if i assign a cabinet button to a key in VP it shows up as Button 8, but when i assign same cabinet button inside PinballX it will appear as Button 7.

Any ideas?

You will need to wait for one of the others that run Pinmame to respond as I do not run it. Have you reviewed the setup guide here? It may have some information that will be of help.

okay... so here's the latest on this puzzling situation. I'm going to assume there are others out there with same problem. Pausing inside of PX only works if it's a 9.1.5 version in my case. I'm running this version as well as VPinball991 and vpinball-9_9-accelmod-8-20-2014. If i'm playing a game in either of the 2 later versions, when i attempt to resume game the resume/quit window is in the forefront and can do nothing other than hit the pause button again which brings me back to the resume/exit game menu in pinballx. All 3 versions have the same key settings.

Any power users out there than can give me a clue?

Have you seen these threads?

You may need to attach copies of your settings or configuration files for each version of Visuabl Pinball you are running for review. No pictures please. Thanks.

So, I've been experimenting with this issue on my cab. If I launch a VP game through PinballX and use the P key on my keyboard, pausing and resuming works fine. If I try to use my cab button, it goes to the Exit/resume VP menu. In VP, I don't have anything else mapped to that button (button 6). If I run a table in VP (not using PinballX) I get pretty much the same results...the P key does nothing in VP alone, my cabinet button 6 brings up the Exit/resume menu.

There's something happening with joystick button mapping that is interfering with VP. Do you happen to have the Virtuapin plunger kit? That's what I'm using.

I just found a workaround that seems to fix this issue. In your VP keys settings, check the 'Override default layout' box. Then, go back and map your button assignments to your joystick buttons. I just did this on my VP Physmod 5 program, and pause is now working correctly. In VP only, the cab button and the 'P' key do nothing. In PinballX, both bring up the pause menu and allow resuming as expected.

I attached a pic of my settings.

You my friend are a fregin' jeneaous! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! All i had to do was click the little box that says "override default layout box"... whatever the h* that means and all is good on the other 2 versions. Oddly, that option had changed descriptions from 915, obviously has something to do with the pausing. You da man!

Oh and yes, also have the Virtuapin plunger kit version 2 (think that's the latest that works).... had the version 1 multiple times and never got this far.

I'm wondering if the Virtuapin plunger V2 has that particular button hardcoded to something in VP that causes that issue? I don't know...anyway, glad it's working now, for both of us!
