Being not just a huge fan of retro video games (otherwise why else would I like GameEx so much, lol), I'm also a big fan of retro video game music. The kind of music where you turn on your favorite game, and instead of playing right away, you jam out to the "sound test" for a little while.... tapping your fingers to Sonic 2's Chemical Plant Zone theme, or headbanging to the title theme for Battletoads & Double Dragon. I felt this kind of music would perfectly fit the atmosphere for the GameEx jukebox. Imagine turning on GameEx, and hearing your favorite game tracks from your childhood, while you decide what to play.

So I've decided to put together a huge collection of video game music, specifically for the jukebox. Music from NES, Super NES, Genesis/Megadrive, Playstation (PsOne), and Nintendo 64. I've recorded and ripped 12 tracks from each video game system. That's 60 in total. 12 NES songs, 12 Super NES songs, and so on. Around 90% of the songs were recorded and ripped by me, from scratch. All final edits of all tracks were done by me, which included timing of all track lengths (and the amount of loops within the tracks), and volume equalizing so that one track isn't much louder or quieter than the other... the volume equalizing of all 60 tracks was VERY difficult and time consuming. And to top it off, all tracks have been tagged with album art, track numbers, titles, artists (game systems of origin), year (2015 since we're almost there anyway), and album title... just in case you would like to put the songs on your MP3 Player or Smartphone.

This entire project was a very long and tedious process, and took me at least 2 weeks to complete. However, it was very much worth the result, and I would like to share it with all of you!

Please feel free to put these songs in your jukebox folder for GameEx (usually C:\GameEx\Media\Albums), or on your MP3 player, if you prefer. I've put a lot of time and effort into this compilation, and I hope you all enjoy it!

You'll need WinZip or WinRar or 7Zip to open the file. It's about 150 MB. If the link doesn't work, let me know ASAP.

@Lighty - Thanks for the share! If you wouldn't mind, please upload this to the FTP. How to access the FTP can be found here. As Liftetime Member, you have access to the FTP area and it is a more stable repository for all interested in your project than the fourms. Filezilla is probably the most popular free FTP client.

It's uploaded to my FTP........ but I don't know what the URL would be to post it here, lol :-P Sorry. I haven't used FTP in a long time.

Thanks very much for this. I still enjoy hearing the old game music from my youth. I wonder if somewhere in the back of a drawer I still have a tape of Spectrum game music I recorded in the 1980s, and some magazine covertapes of arcade music such as Outrun...

Haha yea I remember a long time ago as a kid, I had one of those talkboy tape recorders, and I would play a sonic the hedgehog sound test off genesis, recording against the tv speaker. I would even walk away at the end of the song, so it would have a "fade out" effect.

Did a few C90s full of C64 music as a kid - called them "Game Musix" (very 80s!). Held a portable tape recorder against my tv speaker.... :)

Still love Rob Hubbard tunes to this day.
