[RESOLVED] Emu Backgrounds displaying game artwork, not the default theme png?

RIP-Felix

Recommended Posts

I want my default theme png to display instead of artwork, which is displays as the background image if there is any for the current selection, and just a black screen if not. The correct background appears when I first enter the screen then disappears as the artwork (or lack thereof) displays. I looked through all the settings and could not find what it might be. This behavior leads me to beleave it's a setting somewhere instead of a theme related issue. read on...

I'm trying to make a custom theme and this is not default behavior of the template theme (If I switch back it doesn't do this). I went through all the entries in the templates box and pointed the background at the appropriate custom pngs. I have not messed with the entries in the Objects box yet. I'm not sure how to use it yet. It has entries for things like emulators that differ from the layout of my templates, but they don't seem to interfere. So I left them alone. Could the conversion process have changed objects/templates in a way that could cause this?

I don't understand. I've tried the "custom background" in advanced emulator settings to no avail. Its not the "background mode" in display settings or the "change view" setting within gameex. I'm stumped and can't finish this theme until I get it figured out. Evolution can't get here soon enough.

Dang, I thought that was going to work! It sounded like the same problem. I ran the deleteallvies.exe and the problem persists. In the theme editor, I checked the "Emu foreground" and Emu "background" in the object browser to see if that explains anything and they are empty for all emus. Just blank (the transparent squares thing) on the screen. In templates I have the correct backgrounds selected for each main category. I even set the custom backgrounds for the emulators in the gameex wizard to the correct png, no luck.

The problem:

My start page comes up fine, with my bak.png. The image and image2 pictures show up where I put them in the layout, both on the start page and whithin the emulator display screens. When I enter an emulator the correct background displays first, then a third picture, of the cartridge if one exists, or image2 if not, displays in front of the background.

Question:

Why would a third image be displayed as the background and where is the setting to disable it?

EDIT:

I found a solution, an annoying one but it does work. I deleted the "background snap path" in the "emulator setup" page of the wizard. I now think that the change view option is not working properly as it would cycle through all of the views and never revert to one without the snaps showing as backgrounds. Even the DeleteAllViews.exe did not fix this, assuming it ran correctly, IDK. It opened a command prompt, the cursor just blinked for a few minuets and then the prompt closed, with out any script text appearing.

Just a FYI - the purpose of the "Background Snap Path" is to display your snaps as the background, overriding most, if not all view options. If i'd have seen your post last night it would have been one of the first things to suggest ^_^ Now you've cleared the background snap path try Change View again and i'll bet it works as intended ;)

Yep, that was it. The description said it would display when it is in "the appropriate view mode", not overide all of them. I wanted the option, but whatever, it works now and I'm happy with it. Sorry, it took all this. It was a case of the solution being the last place to look...of course it's always the last place you look, because you stop looking when you find what your looking for, unless your Bono (he still hasn't found what he's looking for) ;) .
