Mame Offender
This game is pretty easy if you know the basics. Hint: to avoid ground attack while rescuing hostages, tap up lightly on your controller immediately after every other or every hostage climbs aboard. It will reset the counter.

ExedExes
Nice pick!Because.... ....you've heard this before. wait for it.........I've got tons of experience with this one. From my days playing it on the Atari 7800 (which I still have), although it's one stage and you must save all 64 hostages.and just like other games I've been playing on MAME for 15 + years now, this is one of them. That 4th stage though, forget it. Might need a bit more practice.ExedExes - 268,800

ExedExes
IC CHECKYung-Jedi 295,050Nice score, but are you using the right ROM, choplftbl? I only ask because choplftbl does not have the IC CHECK at startup that you mentioned, the original ROM (choplft) does.
Yung-Jedi
Hi Exed,Oh Ok, thanks man, let me check on that & get back to ya.Thanks for the note!
MNMax21
My assumption on this rom title is that it is the boot leg of Choplifter, since it has the "bl" on the end. Did Twin Galaxy decide that the boot leg was more true to the original arcade version of the game? When running this through GameEx, I imagine I will have to either filter this specific rom (as it's a bootleg) or just allow boot leg roms? Correct?EDIT: Ok, I see on TwinGalaxies.com that the original did not work in wolfmame .106. I guess they have just decided to stick it out with the bootleg. I imagine wolf mame must be past version .106 now and I am wondering if the original is now working. Seems odd that they wouldn't update the use of a boot leg if they could."Note: The Original Version doesn't work in Wolfmame 0.106, hence this version being used."

Seems odd that they wouldn't update the use of a boot leg if they could."Note: The Original Version doesn't work in Wolfmame 0.106, hence this version being used."I noticed you've pretty much answered your own question haha The Mame version Twin Galaxies allows for submitting hi-scores to their website was and currently is wolfmame 0.106. As you've already mentioned Twin Galaxies decided to use the bootleg version of this rom as the original didn't work with wolfmame 0.106. Twin Galaxies has changed ownership just recently and they're still working at bringing the (new) submitting proces back online. The Mame version Twin Galaxies allows will perhaps change in the near future if they have everyting back online. We decided to use Twin Galaxies settings (ROMset and game specific settings) to allow our hi-score members to compare their hi-score with the world's best If you'd decide to submit hi-scores to Twin Galaxies (not yet possible) you would have to use the correct Mame version. A lot of our hi-score members (me included) are using self-compiled Mame versions however - often with hi-score support. That's why we've decided to only follow Twin Galaxies ROMSet and game settings and not expect our members to use TG's Mame version. TG doesn't change the allowed Mame version every time because they have to test that particular Mame version for things like game session recording, possible cheating etc... It would be too much work to re-test this with every new release of Mame.I hope this explains it a little....
DazzleHP
I would also like to add that, to save arguments on settings (because honestly you all could ague to the death on what settings should be used) we've always used TG settings, when we can. And on this game we can, so it is romset choplftbl. No if's, no but's. We do this for the very reason you are questioning it.
Yung-Jedi
Thanks guys on the help. I was able to auto-update high score games, which auto located the proper rom set for this game (no IC Check) All settings per tourney.Yung-Jedi 393,
MNMax21
Sorry, I was not questioning the inclusion of the game rom type or the rules set forth. I like the way it's run and using twin galaxies. I was more just wondering why it was a bootleg. I posted prior to doing the research on my own, which I located on twin galaxies.I was more inquiring, because both Yung-Jedi and I have used the non boot legged choplifter and it was working on our versions of MAME. When I realized that it was due to functionality issues on wolfmame .106, I then answered my own question.I may be off the radar for awhile. I have been pretty busy at home and work. I also dropped my iPhone in the lake while fishing. I was able to retrieve it and it's currently hanging out in a bag of rice. It has steadily gotten better the last few days, so I hope to have it back soon. I am currently using my old slow as heck HTC and it's painful to think of tapatalk on that sucker.
