Something's gone wrong -- my resolutions used to be perfect in GameEx and now they're all messed up.

Here's the weird part -- if I launch a game using MAME32, the resolutions are fine. However, through GameEx, they're not right.

Going into the GameEx settings, it all looks correct. I have an ArcadeVGA card, and that is set to "yes" in the settings.

Admittedly I'm out of practice with GameEx and all these settings, so it could be something obvious, but I can't figure out why it's changed, and why it looks different using a different front-end.

Any help would be great! Thanks!

The command line for setting the resolution looks correct although I only see games launched from the screensaver in the log. Did you update your version of MAME from quite an old version by any chance? I am pretty sure you need to tell it to render in directdraw mode if its a newer version. I am not quite sure of the command line. I think its -video directdraw or -video ddraw,

I haven't updated mame, no. Nothing's been updated which is why it was strange it changed.

I can launch a game and repost the log if that's helpful.

Thanks!

Here's an updated log file after opening Galaga through GameEx. The resolution is different when I open the game directly through Mame32 front end.

Thanks.

Another (related) question -- when Arcade VGA is set to be used, does it use the resolutions provided in the game's INI file?

Still trying to solve this one... thanks again.

Again, the command line looks correct. To be sure something has not got broken in GameEx please post the contents of runitgame.bat in the data directory.

No it does not use the ini it sends the resolution via the command line to MAME. If you have inis for games this could override although nothing has changed on your end so maybe a bug got introduced in GameEx.

Thanks.

Tom.
