Hi

I've recently purchased a bartop MAME cabinet running Windows XP with Gameex 8.09. I know it's an old version, but I don't know anything about the registration status, and don't have enough understanding of the system to update it confidently without wrecking it.

Anyway, my problem is that I've installed Kega Fusion (current version) to play Megadrive and Master System games, but I can't exit a game and return to Gameex without using a keyboard, as I have nothing on my cabinet mapped to the Escape key, which seems to be the only key that can be used to exit Kega Fusion.

My version of Gameex seems to be pre-GLOBALEXIT, so I couldn't find a setting or option that would help me on Gameex.

I read elsewhere that AutoHotKey could do this for me by using the script:

5s::Escape

5 and s is the combination I want to use as Escape. However, I just get Invalid Hotkey Error's when I try to use this script.

Can anyone help in any way please? Step by step if possible?

Hi SteveB! I strongly urge you to consider upgrading to the latest version of GameEx to rectify your issue and allow us to effectively troubleshoot your problem. It is very possible that some of the issues you are experiencing have been resolved long since version 8.09 or features have been added to make the newer emulators compatible with GameEx.

I was about to say the same thing. The problem could have been solved in a later version. There are new methods to exit emulators now, and a different configuration might be required. For instance, there is an exit process, a close window, a close with ALT+F4, etc. You should get a later version (preferably the newest) and experiment to find out which works best for you. In my particular case, I'm using a modified version of "[Mapping Off] Exit (Process Close)" in which I have configured to use a combined keypress on my gamepad to initiate the close.
