Hi I've been running GameEx for years in my mini-cab, no problem at all :) played all the classics no problem at all!

However, I've just cracked and finally bought an aimtrak, and everything is great apart from the spec of the PC running the cab

It is actually an IBM Thinkpad X60T, (1.6 CoreDuo) and as such struggles with the more modern stuff

I'd love to play TimeCrisis, CarnEvil, Point Blank and Area51, and if I up frameskip to 5 or at least PB and A51 are very playable (I think TC and CarnEvil, might be non-starters on this box)

However as far as I can tell MAME doesn't 'remember' the frameskip setting on the roms, I've tried creating a romname.ini and sticking it in the roms folder with a single line of FrameSkip 5, but this doesn't seem to work.

I don't have a Keyboard in the cab unless doing config otherwise I'd just press F9 ;)

Can this be done?

I found this on the Arcade Controls forum that might be of help. Based on this thread, I think the reason yours is not working is that you are placing it in the ROMS folder instead of the ini folder. Give it a try and let us know if this resolves the issue for you.

I actually found and read that thread myself - that's where I got the idea of the individual ini files, but looks like I totally overlooked the part about the ini folder! Duh!

Thanks!

I'll test and report back :)
