repetto74 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Hi,I have updated Gameex to 12.98 via the automatic update but now Gameex hangs upon selecting a Game list. I can't see preview videos anymore and Gameex will freeze after a few seconds . Really disappointed this was working flawlessly before updating! Is it possible to go back to 12.97??I enclosed the log file but I do not see anything wrong in it....log.txt
Draco1962 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Go to the main GameEx site and download 12.98. Run the install and report back. Sometimes the update will not update right and a direct download and install will remedy the issue.
Tom Speirs Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 If you still have issues please let us know what video codecs you are using and perhaps uninstall them and try Shark Codecs.
repetto74 Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 Thanks for your help on this. I am not at home presently so I will keep you posted later this evening.I am using the Xvid codec package and did not have any issue with it in the past Gameex versionsI will keep you posted. Thanks
ClassicGMR Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Hi,I have updated Gameex to 12.98 via the automatic update but now Gameex hangs upon selecting a Game list. I can't see preview videos anymore and Gameex will freeze after a few seconds . Really disappointed this was working flawlessly before updating!Mine did this as well after updating to 12.98. I had to reboot my computer after update and then it ran fine. Just my $0.02 your mileage may vary.
repetto74 Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 Ok Guys, tried to download and install the full package but still having issues The intro videos plays fine, then the Mame game list comes out but no video preview still. Now I can scroll through de list without freeze but can't launch games, it just come back to the list and after several attempts it freezes again....CTRL+ALT+DEL opens the monitor where I can see Gameex is using 50% of CPU power and 199,644k of memory...Help log.txt
repetto74 Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 OK did the last try by uninstalling Xvid codec and ran the Shark ones. That did the trick so now back to business!!Something is wrong with the Xvid Codec and the last Gameex update...Thanks a lot for your help! I take the opportunity to repost a strange issue with the theme picker in Gameex : when I select Theme Picker none of the themes are available and the screen just flicker....This is something I had also on previous version.
Draco1962 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Please verify via Setup Wizard that you have Theme Picker enabled under Enable/Disable Features.
repetto74 Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 Hi Draco,I confirm Theme Picker is enabled in the setup wizard. I can see it in gameex list but when I select this option I get on an empty page with the Please wait message flickering and then disappearing...
Draco1962 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Please provide a copy of your log.txt immediately following the error. Also, attach a copy of your gameex.ini file in reply. Thanks!
repetto74 Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 Here we go!I remember having downloaded a couple of themes directly from the Gameex menu....the issue may have started after because I remember this theme picker was working first time I tried it.Cheers,GameEx.inilog.txt
repetto74 Posted December 29, 2012 Author Posted December 29, 2012 Actually I noticed that almost all new themes downloaded from Gameex are not working properly. Menus are not displayed, only some functions are available and gameex keeps looping on the same page....Is there a way to deleted themes manually and re-install them??
Draco1962 Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 You can delete any and all the themes on your system if you so choose. I noticed that you are running at 640x480 - I am assuming that you have an arcade VGA monitor, is that correct? Exactly what themes are you trying to load? Are you running custom menus? If so please provide a copy of your custommenu.ini file.
repetto74 Posted December 29, 2012 Author Posted December 29, 2012 Hi,Yes, I do use an Arcade VGA card on a standard CRT monitor. I am actually using the default theme of Gameex with Background V1 without any issue. Troubles starts when I try to load any other theme like Default media center,Default media center V1, Default media center background and any low resolution themes. I do remember everything was working fine when I first installed Gameex and this issue popped out I am sure after a theme udpate run in Gameex.I am not running custom themes.I have enclosed a picture. Those faulty themes starts all a the Themes page, the menu on top is scrollable but any action will just loop back to the same page. As you can see the screen is quite empty also. What I would like to do if possible is to delete all faulty themes manually and then re-install them. How do I need to proceed in Gameex folder tree to do that??Thanks
DazzleHP Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 All themes are located @...\GameEx\THEMES -each folder in that directory is a single theme. "Default - Default" is the one GameEx falls back on i believe so make sure to keep that one and you also might want to make sure it is selected in setup (using the wizard outside of GE may be wise for now as you are having problems with the theme picker)
repetto74 Posted December 29, 2012 Author Posted December 29, 2012 Ok I will delete themes and keep only the one I am using. I think the default themes can be installed manually with a proper theme package on the Gameex download section right?
repetto74 Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 I have tried to manually install a new theme and still the same issue. When I select the theme in the Wizard then the theme is not loaded at the 'Start' page but at an empty page called 'Themes'. Any action on controls will just do nothing...I was thinking maybe to install again Gameex on a different folder and copy paste the theme folder to overwrite this one...I enclosed the log file when launching Gameex with the manually installed theme..log.txt
Draco1962 Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Having reviewed your log file again I noticed the following:12:42:45.3 12/30/2012: Using Theme: Simple Mode ArcadeVGA 352x256Not having your gameex.ini file at my disposal to confirm, are you running in Arcade Mode in your settings? I am not sure if that is playing a part or not in the errors you are having, but, if so, will need your .ini file so I can elevate to Tom's attention.
repetto74 Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 Hi Draco,No I am not running in Arcade VGA mode. I just tried to load a low res theme after switching resolution manually from desktop (with Avres icon tray) and confirm it is giving also troubles.I do confirm that most of the themes of my list are not working (most of them running at 640x480) and will only display a blank 'theme' page and that's allHere are the themes not working :Default - Media CenterDefault - Media Center BackgroundDefault - DefaultDefault - Arcade VGA Low ResSimple Mode ArcadeVGA (third party theme)Default Blueglass, Default Media Center V1, Default Media Center Background V1, Default Alpha Blue, Olive and Red are properly workingCheers,GameEx.ini
