I swear I posted this before but I don't see it

I hadn't noticed the Steam section in the Setup Wizard, I've tried it and it is working 100% thanks Tom

I have found a minor bug in the Wizard though - it doesn't search the section headers or descriptions, I searched for Steam but the only result was 'Text / Language'

Instead of only being able to download the wrappers via the installer could an option be added to the Steam section of the setup wizard?

I'll see if I can test the latest version on my problem PC when I am home for lunch in a hour or so

tested the latest version on my problem PC, I've now got a list of games and it's nearly perfect.

There are a few issues:

All games seem to be there bar 1 - Virtual Tennis, didn't get a chance to check my other system that was happily show Virtual Tennis last night (I'll check later)

I have a few extra unexpected entries, though not that many considering the number of extra entries in the vdf

I'm getting 3 Call of Duty Modern War 3 entries - I can understand if there where 2 as Steam has a separate entry for single/multiplayer but not sure why 3

I've no idea what Le_game_code is and forgot to check the ini before leaving the house (will check later)

Toki Toki [38700] is actually uninstalled

"InstallDir" ""
"UpdateKBtoDL" "0"

this is probably coming from the demo though Steam doesn't show the demo for me

I have 2 Worms Reloaded [22600] entries

I'm thinking the 2nd might be from the DLC

dlc is just downloadable content, they shouldn't show because they can't actually be played themselves

I can't remember what the Worms DLC is but Street Fighter for example has extra costumes for characters as DLC or Dirt 3 has extra cars.

What about a AppID black list? That way as we find these odd ID's that don't fit the rules you can ignore them? A blacklist folder beside the config and wrapper, if a file exists there with the appid it is ignored but GameEx. That way I can upload any I find to the FTP and your can include them automatically with each release. This may even be useful as a parental filter if someone didn't want their kids playing a certain game

Virtua Tennis

Turns out instead of copying Virtua Tennis to my new HTPC, I moved it, so even though steam thought it was there it wasn't and you were right not to display it :)

Le_game_code is now also gone

I still have Toki Tok and a Bang Bang Racing enry even though these are delete but it's because Steam doesn't bother deleting the demo of a game when you purchase the full version, so even though I can't play these demo anymore steam still felt the need to hold on to the data, I have now delete these folders manually so that's them gone.

I would still like to know where the 2 Worms Reloaded and 3 Modern War entries are coming from though, I'll do some more digging

Posted

Do all the modern warfare entries play OK? I notice if I use the app id on the store url it redirects to a different app id but its still the same game. If they all work I cam simply filter duplicates with the same installdir.

Posted

Well I now know why there are 3 entries, the first is the dedicated server, second is single player and third is multiplayer

I would be nice if we could tell the difference other than all 3 showing the same name but I can live with it as is.

Worms Reloaded is a bit stranger, the first entry fires up the game but the second does nothing, its logs into steam then sits there until GameEx gives up are restores itself

Posted

I decided to try something, I renamed my config.vdf to config.bak then logged into Steam, it created a new config.vdf which is much cleaner than the last one 70kb down to 12kb

Now the extra Worms Reloaded and the Modern Warfare for the dedicated server entry have gone

...all is at peace with the world :)

As for worms it should filter out games with dlc at the end of the install path. So try grabbing the install again deleting steamdata.ini

I restored my old vdf, downloaded the latest GameEx and deleted the steamdata.ini but still 2 entries

I'm happy to go with the new vdf fix, unless you really want to get to the bottom of it?

Only last 'markup' issue 'Dead Rising 2' is showing as 'Dead Rising® 2'

This is a age restricted game so maybe the problem lies there

Is there anything can be done to scrape the data for these age restricted games?

Or should we just create our own meta data?

Sorry but I have another request

Is it possible to have a launch before and a launch after?

I need to send a default Xpadder profile before starting any Steam game

Thanks

Your last two posts are addressed in 12.82. Now available.

Thanks Tom

Seeing as I'm on a role with getting my requests fulfilled.. Do you think you could pop round and cut the grass for me :)

I thought that Adultery's Xpadder plugin helped to do away with the need for launch before/after in most cases?

Yeah I had hoped so too but it doesn't work well with my setup.I have all the class controllers, NES, SNES etc so I have the needto be careful with my xpadder setup.

It's something I meant to look into as I think it would only take minor tweaking of his plugin to make it work, from memory it was something as simple as having an option to NOT launch a profile is all that is required

PC Games are the only system that I need to change profiles on

Tom, is the RunAfter implemented any differently than normal? I'm trying to run xpadder, it's supposed to load my default profile which lets me control GameEx but what seems to happen is:

I exit the game, GameEx appears, I can't use my controler then about2 seconds after GameEx reappearing GameEx minimizes, I restore GameEx and my controller is working

It's a if Xpadder is stealing focus away from GameEx

Tried launching xpadder from a batch file but GameEx seems to hang then, I think it's waiting for xpadder to close, maybe its the RunBefore NoWait and RunAfter NoWait options that I require

I would have a little request if possible. Would it be possible to exclude Source SDK Base and Source SDK Base 2007 from the Steam list? They are not games, as you already know...

It works the same as normal launch before and launch after does. I will look at it if you cant find a workaround. How did you do it before I implemented proper support?

I will look at it. Please provide the app IDs and install paths and also the total size of the contents of their install dirs.

Please try the attached in regard to the launch before and launch after. It will launch them as separate processes and not wait.

Thanks Tom it's working now
