ClassicGMR Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Is there a size limit to the eBook viewer? I created an 8 Bit Theatre PDF with PDF Converter Pro. It works fine with Adobe Reader but when I select it in GameEx the system just comes right back to the menu. It will open other files - I copied the Lynx Awesome Golf manual to the eBook directory and it opens that just fine. The PDF I created is 187MB.I don't see anything useful in the log.txt file.
Adultery Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Could you try and open it in GhostScript and see if it works? That's what GameEx uses for PDF support.
ClassicGMR Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 Not finding GhostScript but I've no issues with any other PDF I own. Nothing in my Control Panel -> Programs list either.Maybe I missed something. Where would I get a copy of that then?
Adultery Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I'm betting its a timeout due to the ginormous file size though. 1
Draco1962 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Is this the only document you have created with PDF Converter Pro that you have tried to open from within the eBook reader? I have run into problems with other conversion programs in the past. If not,. please test this out on a smaller file and see if you run into the same issue. If so, you may want to try CutePDF. 1
ClassicGMR Posted August 13, 2012 Author Posted August 13, 2012 OK I did have that installed already. I noticed it was 9.0 and the newest is 9.06 so I installed it anyway. It also opened Awesome Golf fine but for my file I got the attached screen of fun. Must be the file size. I really wanted this on my arcade cabinet. EDIT: I'll give that a shot Draco. Thank you.
Adultery Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 That right there is certainly a problem with how its packing it.Not that its an option for everyone but Acrobat Pro is the way to go. Maybe you have it at work or something? I have yet to make a PDF that didn't load but never that big.
ClassicGMR Posted August 13, 2012 Author Posted August 13, 2012 (edited) Definitely a size issue. It's way too big even at 187MB.CutePDF made it 2.7GB the first pass (at 600dpi). Oops! I played with the settings and even went with 100 panels (20-ish MB) and it only would display the first page. Edited September 24, 2012 by Draco1962 This thread is now closed.
