Using a different rom set for certain games

Hello all,

As we know TMNT and Simpsons are 4 player games. In MAME32 I was usuing a file for a 2 player version of each game. In GameEx all that is listed is the 4 player cabinet versions. I checked my word filters and it is off. Is there anyway to get the 2player cabinet rom set to show up? Thanks

I realize this is an old topic but I need help with this same thing..the only way I've been able to get both the 2player and 4player versions of some games is to allow clones but then I end up with a bunch of clones in the list.

Help?

If the ROMS have been modified for 2 players, then they are clones of the original. There is no getting around it that I am aware of, but we have some experienced folk that may be able to provide better input.

Well, if it were me and I knew exactly what games I wanted to use, I would add the game I didn't want to filter (the clone in this case) to the "Don't Filter" list and the parent to the "Filter" list.
