Version 4.0.0

I created a small program I('m not a programmer !) , that will create "Real DMD Color Videos" an/or "Topper" from your wheel image(s). I was inspired what @Thalamus posted on Vpinball forum. He posted Real DMD color Video's that first shows the wheel image for some seconds, than the year published and finally the company logo. This all makes a video of around 7 seconds. If you enable high score showing in PinballX, it is a nice show when scrolling through your front end. Until version 3.0 all was created in VBscript. Started from version 3.0 it is transferred to VB.net . Also created a settings program, that you need to run first (and setup) In the attached ZIP there is also a folder with PNG,s of year. You can change these to your off color/font For Real DMD users, it will create a video of 128x32 pixels For DMD users, it will create a video of 1280x320 pixels with an dotted overlay (thanks @scutters for this) Please used the following thread for any issues (this is my 2nd VB.net, so think I missed some things) -
I have a PinDMD3 display and just replaced the "No Real DMD Color.avi" file to a custom video file. It plays flawlessly, although without loop. So the video stays still after the last frame and doesn't start again. It would be nice if the loop play could also work with .mp4 videos, so I don't have to convert it to .avi (where the loop works). Besides that - best front end in the world :-) Cheers, Timo

Hello, I have an issue with the video snaps in GameEx. I downloaded a bunch of .mp4 video snaps for my Amiga emulator via the EmuMovie Sync tool. But it takes GameEx a few seconds to load mp4 video snaps when going through the list of games in GameEx. In an attempt to fix this I converted the .mp4 files to .avi files with Pazera's MP4 to AVI / FFMpeg. Result: the loading time significantly increased to the point of no delay but the quality of the .avi videos is very poor. Of course I can convert it to high quality AVI but the converted files are much bigger in comparison to the MP4 files. I want to have a snap video delay close to 0 AND snap videos in the original MP4 format. Is there a way to fix this? In the Tweaks and Performance section I changed the 'Snap/video delay' to 'Fastest' but that seems to have no noticeable effect. I included the GameEx.ini in this post, see attachment. By the way, excuse me for my poor English grammar. Kind regards, Michel GameEx.ini

Hi guys, I'm experiencing a weird issue in which my Emumovies video snaps are only playing for some of my emulators. Over the past month I've been setting up a new computer for a home arcade; the MAME, NES, and SNES were set up without a hitch (meaning that video snaps and other assets are being displayed properly). When I started configuring my Gameboy and Gameboy Color assets, I noticed that the video snaps for these two systems will not play in GameEx whatsoever; the other assets have no issues. Even the renamed system intro movies that I placed in the them's LOGO folder won't play for GB and GBC but they will play for MAME, NES, and SNES. Also, my ROM and asset files all share the same filenames. Help! GameEx_ini.txt

Hello everyone !!! I'm testing the latest version of GameEx and I have a little problem with the preview videos. They are in mp4 format and can not view them in GameEx. I only tried it on mame emulator. Do Gameex support this video format? I thought so, but it may not. Can anyone help me solve this?

This is a problem I've had for a couple of months now, and I've been unable to fix on my own. I have many retro computer commercials that I used to be able to play between emulated games in attract mode. I am using a cabinet dedicated to GameEx, running Windows XP, installed only Shark007 (the vista codec pack) without any pre-existing codec packs. I have set the codec pack to "use FFDShow" in the first tab. The problem: after playing the first video it shows a blank screen or the last frame of the video, while running the emulator in the background, which can be heard but not seen. The majority of the videos are FLV or MP4 and have been taken directly from YouTube. Works fine: Video thumbnails in gamelists, Multimedia section videos. This only affects attract mode. Strange: HideOS always loads and the desktop is always hidden, despite in Display settings, "Hide Desktop = No", and every emulator has "Show Desktop = Yes". The MAME section doesn't seem to have a setting for this. Ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'm at a bit of a stumper - the rest of my hair is about gone lol. Any help with this will be greatly appricated . I am trying to lean more on using MP4 video snaps rather than AVI. The problem that I am having is: - When running GameEx, there appears to be a lag, or skips, only when the MP4 video snaps are playing with audio (when scrolling through games). The videos only play seamless during other times when there is no sound from the MP4 video. I'm pretty sure that this is some sort of codec issue...I hope. I have tried changing GameEx themes, but with the same results. I have opened the MP4 files in Windows Media Center, and all play fine through there, but for some reason, when the MP4 snap files are played with audio through GameEx, the video starts to lag and skip. I'm attaching the log and config files, as well as the installed codecs (doc) file that I exported from Shark007. If anyone can lead me in the right direction of tweaks, or tell me what I'm doing wrong, it will be greatly appriciated, and I will keep you in mind when I start Christmas Shopping next month . Thanks in advance! LC log.txt GameEx.ini installed codecs.txt

Has anyone gotten mp4 video previews to work using the VLC player codecs? I've heard people suggest using Shark007 codecs but I'd rather not use those if possible. One reason is that I've read that it automatically installs browser toolbars and other adware automatically. But the real reason is that VLC is my preferred video player. In the video/movie player settings page in the Setup Wizard I have set the settings to use an external video player and pointed it to the vlc.exe file. Does anyone know if this changes the video player for the screensaver mode, video preview while browsing, and for manually playing videos in the multimedia section? Or does this only change the video player for the multimedia section? Anyway, right now, if I use the Setup Wizard to adjust my MAME settings page to point to the video previews (MP4 HI_QUAL downloaded from EmuMovies) then all artwork in GameEx does not work, including the videos. If I remove those videos, then all my artwork comes back (snaps, cabinets, marquees, etc). I'm running Windows XP with the latest GameEx version. Any other information needed for this topic? Thanks.
