  1. Here's one with LUCKY charms collected in levels 1 and 2
  2. Yeah thanks a lot guys. I tried building a Mame Hi Score Games submenu and it worked just fine with the snapper. I didn't know about custom Mame lists and really like that concept - so many possibilities (horizontal shmups, vertical shmups, childhood favorites, you name it). Thanks again for the quick help.
  3. Thanks - but no luck with the MAME database. [in utter confession of total newbie-ness] What exactly do you mean with the MAME custom list method?
  4. Finally found the time to set up the Hi Score Snapper - now this is a nice tool Adultery! Kudos!! I've experienced one minor hiccup though - perhaps one of you guys can point me in the right direction: All working like a charm when I start one of the hiscore games right from the MAME menu in GameEx. However, when I start the same game from the virtual "GameEx HiScore Competition" emulator list (which I set up as described here), no snap is taken and the snapper log says something about "<game name> is not a Hi-Score game!". Probably something with the configuration of the HiScore "emulator", so I enclosed the ini. Thanks and good hi-scoring!
  5. Saved one for hard times... so 5th is MINE again, muahahahaa (though I guess it won't be long ) SMA rules as per post #1 1,588,350
  6. Like it... it's so... Japanese! Gave it a few tries and had a pretty good run, beating the second boss for the first time! Didn't get the second LUCKY though, so future improvement is imminent (I hope ) SMA rules as per post #1 788,900
  7. Totally agree... another one of those I knew existed but never really played... Very easy to forget the time about this great game. Definitely one I'll get back to. initials SMA rules as per post #1 score 209,650
  8. Judging from the recent posts you guys are having a good time with this one... had to try it as well I especially like the gimmick with the pilot ejecting when it's game over... wonder what he'll do next initials SMA rules as per post #1 score 1,189,930
  9. 100k+ club here I come initials SMA score 131,020 rules as per post #1
  10. Never played this... when I was a kid I played mainly on my C64 and the Green Beret port was pretty awful. Plain unplayable. Gave it a try when I saw it here and I find it surprisingly good. So good in fact I spent the whole weekend with it So: initials SMA rules as per post #1 MAME 146 score 92,720 Will go for 100k and - of course - 4th place tomorrow
  11. Hello everybody, finished setting up my first cab just a few days ago. I'm having such a blast hammering away them shmups! So, first of all thank you guys in the forum for answering my questions and helping me getting things done. This is really a good place to be! So if I may, I'd like to join this awesome competition with my first (and certainly not last ) entry: initials SMARIO rules as per post #1 MAME 146 score 181,400 So, thanks again and c u in the leaderboards sma
  12. Oh.... now that was easy :-) I figured the part with the persistent script, but never would have guessed the solution with the second script... my my [scratching head]. You guys are great. Thank you!!
  13. Hi all, since the MAME volume control buttons do not seem to work on my installation, I decided to map global Windows volume controls to control panel buttons with AutoHotKey, such as X::Send {Volume_Up 3} Y::Send {Volume_Down 3} All works fine using MAME stand-alone. However, when starting the AHK script with the "Run on launch" item in the Advance MAME settings like "C:\Program Files\AutoHotkey\AutoHotkey.exe" "C:\Emulators\MameUI32\_keymappings\mame.ahk" 1. the CPWizard panel is shown 2. the AHK script is started and that's it. MAME does not start. Hint: Had the same problem using AHK scripts with emulators until I tried the "Also launch" item which works perfectly. Is there an "also launch" rather than the "run on launch" with MAME also? Is there a workaround? (I am using the current GameEx version 12.98) Thanks in advance!
  14. Oh... you're right! Got it now. (I probably didn't get it right the first time because after hitting Change View 5 or 6 times it seemed to me the same views started over again...) Thanks for your patience :-) smario
  15. Hello Draco, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Unfortunately, the hint with changing the view didn't help. Isn't there a way to disable the pcb, control panel etc. pics from being used as a background image in the MAME list? I added two additional pics to clarify things, one showing my Commodore 64 list with black backgrounds (same with all other emulator lists) and the other one showing the MAME list with the unwanted background images. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, smario
  16. Hi there, I want to get rid of background images showing in my MAME list (and only there). - in all other emulator sections there is no background image showing (just the black background). That's the way I want it to be in the MAME list as well - Background Mode on the setup wizard "display settings" page is set to "display black background" - "Background snap path" entry on the "Mame settings" page is left empty - I am using the Space Invaders theme, trying to toggle the DisplayBackgroundImage=False entry in theme.ini didn't help I included my gameex.ini and a screenshot. Thank you very much for your assistance! smarioGameEx.ini
  17. Right on the spot, guys! For whatever reason I had a second GameEx.ini deep down in ~user\AppData\Local\VirtualStore (and so on) and that one had the wrong paths in it. Only one GameEx.exe though. Thanks very much for helping me out!
  18. I am new to GameEx, hello everybody! I am experiencing a black screen right after the nag screen (I _will_ donate right after it's up and running :-). I have installed GameEx properly, but even after a new install it's just the same. I have attached the log file and the current GameEx ini (in which I haven't made too many modifications after my last reinstall). Please also note that the MAME paths in the GameEx.ini and the Log file differ - which seems odd to me. The MAME path in the GameEx.ini is the right one and I can start Mame properly on the command line from that location. The path in the Log file is an old path where there is no current Mame installation anymore. Probably a hint at the black screen... Thanks very much for helping me out (and sorry in advance if that should turn out to be a dumb question...)
