  1. Just that GameEx had an exception and tossed up a error message. I'll grab it for you.
  2. LOL
  3. Well from some of the bench marks I've seen over at Tom's Hardware...performance wise it dogs out in some area's badly and generally is slightly slower than XP. I like the looks of it...but past that I see every thing going the other way. Hell XP in a lot of ways is a step back from Win2k. Really unless PC hardware forces me to upgrade to vista...I won't be going if I can at all help it.
  4. Yeah its nothing but a new coat of paint. I won't go into bashing it...but if I do update my OS post WinXP...it'll likely be Linux. Which I'm not a huge fan of...but its getting better and windows seems to be getting worse.
  5. Thanks for the update...even tho I'm not doing Vista.
  6. Well some thing else that maybe causing problems (stab in the dark) is that maybe I by accident packaged up some of my cfg files from the "*\zinc\cfg\" folder that maybe system dependant... so maybe clear out those cfg files and try again. Well the KN1 games are the only ones that call J2K....and they are all CHD's...so they are different in that area.
  7. I've noticed a few times where GameEx crash when using the Advanced config to exit via gamepad...thus far only tested and seen while using WinKawaks. Also noticed it can some times take some serious button mashing to trigger the Emu to exit. * Update * Odd now that I have the new update for GameEx this appears to have gone away....well other than the mashing of buttons to exit the emu. * Update * Still happens...just not nearly as often. * Update * Noticed it with Zinc standalone as well...so not limited to only Winkawaks.
  8. Well Joy2Key should be loading prior to zinc actually according to how the script is written. Now by default Joy2Key should be set to minimize on startup. Its INI setting is "StartIconified=1" Now I have noticed its icon still in the system tray...but the process is actually closed. Maybe add a sleep command prior to exicuting the game and see if that helps...actually I'll post a modified version for you to try.
  9. Updated the package...now has an advanced.ini for use standalone that will exit the game properly from joystick or gamepad. Also has fewer game configs from the get go as I have clones using the same config file...to help speed things along should you dislike the default bindings.
  10. Not thats feed back to gameex.
  11. Well you'll need one as its required for both hardware and software.
  12. Yes...well 1, 2 or 3 depending on the game. Try "pce.exe -cd:F"
  13. Wouldn't this section be of more importance? default_system_card= # ---- # path settings # ---- [path] ; ; system card paths ; -- ; system_card_1= system_card_2= system_card_3= system_card_4= Also to boot the CD directly shouldn't the commandline be pce.exe -cd
  14. Well I'm loading it on my system fairly decently...however thats my system...if its taking any thing past 45 seconds to load...its not a game to be playing with. Really if the loader gets the game to load then its done its job...hehe making some thing playable is beyond the scope of the application. There is suppose to be a new zinc nearing release...maybe when thats released it'll solve the issue. Right now I'm trying to pass --list-games to zinc through the loader and return it to GameEx as when I did the more detailed installation at the head of the thread...I forgot to personally switch the loader out and put zinc back in the commandline prior to generating a new list....so I nuked my listing. While not some thing all that likely to happen in the future...getting that in place would lessen the hoops people have to jump through to use it with Mame.
  15. Okay attached the file to the head of the thread...starting to get short on personal storage on the forum...so trying to keep things off of it.
  16. Try changing the render used by Zinc...options are: ZiNc_D3D.cfg ZiNc_GL.cfg ZiNc_GL2.cfg ZiNc_Glide.cfg ZiNc_Soft.cfg This can be set in the Settings.ini in the Config\ folder, under the GFX entry for the game. You're better off killing the emu than the loader...the loader will notice the emu is shut down and will then its self close of its own accord. Maybe I'll add back in a kill key to the loader.

    JoyToKey

Well I guess thats dependant on perspective case vs cab.
  18. That is good news...any word on how soon the next version will be out...?
  19. Well you don't need an FE...but its nicer. You could right now create a bat file with some thing like so in it. ZiNc_Loader.exe 10 And it'll fire right up. Or if you had Run Program shell extenion from Synesis installed you could simply right click on the loader and punch in a number and the game that assigned to that number with launch. Other wise for now I'd suggest downloading and trying out GameEx...under Mame Advanced there is a few entrys that relate to getting Zinc setup...basically follow the loose instructions I have listed at the first update in this thread. I'll do up a proper readme to all this later after every thing settles down. Since it is a beta...its not suggested for those with short tempers.

    JoyToKey

Well I found this little tutorial for JoyToKey. I also came across version 3.7.9...I guess from what I've heard around here most only have 3.7.4...not like there is much difference. Just fingured I'd pass this along as it tends to be useful when it comes to emulation.
  21. Mine says its march 4th, 2006...I had to hunt all over the web just to find this...tho I probably could have posted asking for it. Well this is the first time I've ever really had any luck with it...tho this is also the first time I've really put effort into it as well. Ideally once I get done with this...zinc should be fairly simple to get up and running...with any FE. * Update* Okay this build is no longer built to be standalone...I'll likely add that back later. That said backup then delete your current zinc setup...I renamed and moved stuff around to much to even try to explain it. This is good news and bad news...the good is that you can now fire up the KN1 CHDs and the bad...you can't play them as of yet. I need to search the forum\web more to figure out why I'm not getting joy2key to load the cfg files the way I want. Once thats done...we're more or less in the clear. >> Minor correction...you can play them...but only with the default keyboard binds. * File Removed and Hosted else where *
  22. Good deal Well I'm about 30% of the way to finding out if I can get the KN1 CHDs to work for us.
  23. Do a search through your mame roms folder for "tekken" open up the zipped rom and extract a file called "pr1data.8k" to the root of C:\ then try the Tekken games again.
