  1. Really? Why do you think that if you don't mind me asking.
  2. Thank you very much everybody. Also, Tom - GameEx is awesome. Thank you for all of your work.
  3. Thank you guys. I'm amazed at how fast you responded. BTW, I was just wondering what I have bought exactly and I'm not planning on leaving after a year.
  4. OK, cool. So after a year all new features will be unavailable to me - unless I spend a bit more money again, but the ones from before a year into the future, will still be available? Edit: Actually you meant that I won't be able to update it at all, didn't you? That's still cool though!
  5. Hi. I have just purchase the "1 year of updates" package. I'm not entirely sure what is meant by "1 year of updates" though. Can someone clarify this for me please?
  6. Oh yeah! Sorry, I forgot to do that. Thanks.
  7. I've managed to sort it out. Not all settings were kept from the update, but updating did fix the error I was getting BTW, however I found another solution. In the theme's .ini there was a "show buttons" setting - setting this to "False" removed the button I did not want. You see I had already disabled the exit button, but from the config programme. Also, I was able to reposition the lines of info, using the .ini, so all of it is displayed. Thanks for the help mate!
  8. Sure thing, if I can copy my settings over. Otherwise I'll want to leave it for now. Thanks.
  9. Are you asking for somebody to provide you with a working ROM? That is against the rules if you are.
  10. Thanks for the quick response. I did exactly what you detailed before starting the topic, though it caused an error when I tried to start GameEx. I thought I was tackling it in the wrong way you see. Nonetheless, I tried again though I got the same error (please see attachment). Edit: LOL - sorry. Forgot to click on "Attach This File". error.txt
  11. Hi I am have been working on my system for the past couple of months, whenever I'm feeling like doing it, and I am almost at the stage where everything's perfect. Also, just so you know Tom, that means I will purchase the full version soon (to show my support & disable the nag screen). However, two things I want to change about my current setup is: 1) I want to remove the home button, shown inside the top, red circle on the picture attached. 2) I would like to either remove the text, shown inside the bottom, red circle on the picture attached. Or, I would like no text to be cut off from what is displayed. The latter would be my preference but either would be great! Can anyone help me? Thanks prob.bmp
  12. It seems to me that the ROM you are using is not the correct one for the .143 version of MAME.
  13. ^ Yeah and that Damn, not thinking of that whilst replying to the OP was pretty poor...
  14. Sorry, misinterpreted what you meant. Firstly, the bios are meant to be in the folder named roms. Are they there? And is the rom there? Also, some games need a chd file. What game is it? This file needs to be put in a folder (named the same as the corresponding rom) inside the rom directory. Plus games/chds/bios have specific names. Are they named correctly? I'll be happy to help if you're not sure about any of these questions and still can't get it working. What exactly happens when you try and play the game as well?
  15. It sounds like you have it set up so "clones" are not displayed, though perhaps you have it so "imperfect" games are not shown, or something else. Either way, you need to go into the the GameEx's advanced configuration programme and under Advanced MAME Settings, you need to change the filter settings. It should be pretty straight forward once you get to the filter settings. After that just update your game list and everything should be good.
  16. Try updating the list, also, do they work in MAME on its own - not using GameEx?

    CPWizard

Hi, I'm sure this was working how I want it to, before I had to redo everything on my computer, but it won't now. What I want is for CPWizard to display mameinfo, not only when you are playing a parent ROM, but the others as well. Is this possible or am I just imagining things? LOL Thanks
  18. Alright there. I'll wait for somebody else to tell you about how customizable it is, as I'm not taking advantage of its features enough nor do I know about these features enough. I feel from what I do know however, it is VERY customizable, I do not know much about other front ends though. I have seen other people say it's the best for customizability BTW. You can find guides here: http://www.gameex.net/Support.aspx
  19. Okay, I have found a solution for both problems, though I'm not sure if I will like it better/indifferently/worse than how I originally thought I would be able to view these files. The solution is to use CPWizard, as there are options in the programme that will let you view both files in full. CPWizard - http://www.headsoft.com.au/index.php?category=cpwizard&page=about Just in case, is anybody able tell me if the issues can be fixed within GameEx?
  20. AAAARRGGHHHH!!! I keep on double posting by accident. Sorry.
  21. history.dat - game description mameinfo.dat - revision info So you're not sure that GameEx uses it. It would be a real shame if that was true, as I find it interesting. I have also noticed an other issue. A member who goes by the name of LeedsFan also reported this problem, though in June 09. I will quote him: "I have my GameEx FE set up to show some game info (together with Marquee, CP etc) whenever a game is selected. However, I'm not getting the full text info from History.dat. There is some really interesting Trivia and Cheat info in there which I just can't get to display in the "Info" section of the selected game in GameEx. I can get a text description of the game, together with a lists of "Games in the series" and "Recommended games". But that's it. In History.dat file there is much more info on each game which is not displaying. How do I do this? I checked all the config options in GamEx setup. If I launch a game directly from MameUI I get to see the full info in the History Tab. But sadly not in GameEx? " He never got a reply however.
  22. Yeah, I have been doing that, plus I have changed the theme a few times and moved the file to where gameex is pointed towards, to find the file, by default. Is it suppose to appear with the history.dat info?
  23. Yes, I did that. Should it appear under the history.dat text, like it does in MAMEUI?
  24. Hi. Like I always do when I ask for help, I have researched my problem extensively, I can not however fix it. My mameinfo is configured correctly and works in MAMEUI but in GameEx I can not find where it is displayed. Can I have some help please?
