  1. I ran across news of these 4K fan restorations a few months ago. It's pretty amazing what was done with such old film that was probably played thousands of times decades ago. There's more info available about the others in the tabs, but apparently Empire was really tough. https://www.thestarwarstrilogy.com/2024/02/15/4k80-6-years-in-the-making/
  2. TLDR I’m not entirely sold on spending the cash on ubiquiti home network idea, but do have some weird challenges to deal with. I’ve literally got stacks of this stuff running on my daytime network and it just works, while also representing a one stop shop, making integration nice. For some idiotic reason (cheap bastards) they wired our 2015 home with 5e and it all home-runs to a distribution can on the lower level. The 5e will be fine for hardwiring Smart TV’s and cameras, which I intend to use it for on that level. My office is upstairs, from where I installed numerous runs of cat6 to other rooms to spread the electrical load away from an office/gaming room. So this level has a mix of 5e and 6, but 350MHz 5e can potentially eclipse 1Gbps in ideal conditions. Two Pro-Max 16 PoE’s would give me the ability to link both floors over SM SFP modules and power my cameras and mesh devices on e ash in a single clean interface, but it’s about $1k of switches to enjoy that convenience.
  3. I was just curious to see what you ran in the 10gb realm. I’m leaning towards a ubiquity 2.5 gb, managed switch but still weighing options as I deploy a new home network and surveillance setup. Sounds like I missed quite a speech! Did he executive order tariffs already?
  4. What switch are you using?
  5. A trip down memory lane. Read the rest here.
  6. I bought these in April of 2023. https://www.newegg.com/asus-model-tpm-m-r2-0/p/1JW-000C-00166?Item=9SIAMNEHWJ2772
  7. The last two builds I did happened in 2016, both identical 6700k setups with one being my GameEx / PinballX rig........right around the time we moved. I bought TPM 2.0 cards for them and enabled them in the BIOS, so maybe worth another look now, especially for the old-school gaming setup....just can't justify more money going into that until performance is hindered by lack of computing power.
  8. I was hoarding a bunch in the past but have started ridding myself of it to recapture valuable closet space. Part of me wishes I had kept something that would run 98se, but the likelihood that I would actually use it is pretty nonexistent.
  9. I built a gaming rig for a co-worker of mine right when the RTX-2000 gen launched and he seems to be in the same boat and no Gigabyte TPM 2.0 chips to be found. its a conspiracy to fill the landfills I tell ya!
  10. Nice upgrade, I eager to do mine and get back to some gaming and think I'll be going AMD this cycle for sure. TPM is integrated on the 9700 series chips through the platform trust technology, so do you really need a TPM 2.0 or just enable it in BIOS?

  12. Wow, sort of scary to think we're somewhere in the AARP era of gaming!
  13. Hard to believe it’s already Christmas. Merry Christmas everybody! l
  14. Different, for sure..............
  15. They need one of these in the Arcade.
