TLDR
I’m not entirely sold on spending the cash on ubiquiti home network idea, but do have some weird challenges to deal with.
I’ve literally got stacks of this stuff running on my daytime network and it just works, while also representing a one stop shop, making integration nice.
For some idiotic reason (cheap bastards) they wired our 2015 home with 5e and it all home-runs to a distribution can on the lower level. The 5e will be fine for hardwiring Smart TV’s and cameras, which I intend to use it for on that level. My office is upstairs, from where I installed numerous runs of cat6 to other rooms to spread the electrical load away from an office/gaming room. So this level has a mix of 5e and 6, but 350MHz 5e can potentially eclipse 1Gbps in ideal conditions.
Two Pro-Max 16 PoE’s would give me the ability to link both floors over SM SFP modules and power my cameras and mesh devices on e ash in a single clean interface, but it’s about $1k of switches to enjoy that convenience.
