  1. I actually designed my marquee using gimp! The Alpa2Logo Filters are awesome for marquees and easy to use.
  2. OK I fixed my 16 color issue. It seems that photoshop CS3 has a bug in saving to 4 bit images. I used CS2 and it worked fine.
  3. Hey everyone, I think I found a small bug in Instant Sheller. If I load an image that is not 640x480 or 16 colors no changes are made to the system but Instant Sheller won't let you load another image. It crashes if you try. You then have to restart the computer, be welcomed to XP with none of the checked changes made, tell instant sheller to undo changes, and then restart and try again. Could this all be avoided by checking the image size and number of colors on image selection instead of when trying to apply changes? This then leads to my second question. How have some of you made custom boot screens? I want to convert my marquee to a boot screen. If I load it in paint and save as 16 colors it looks terrible but works with instant sheller. If I load it in photoshop and change the mode to 16 color indexed it looks pretty good but after I save it to a bitmap Instant Sheller rejects it saying that it is not 640x480 or 16 colors. Does anybody have any suggestions? I know how to check the image size in XP but how do I check to make sure Photoshop saved to only 16 colors? Thanks!

    Speakers

I installed a pair of alpine 5.25" car speakers and a 41hz Amp6-Basic amp (www.41hz.com). The amp6-Basic is awesome, but you have to be willing to solder it together. It was easy to build even though it was only the second thing I've ever soldered (1st was my keyboard encoder)! This amp has plenty of power, sounds amazing and 41Hz has a great forum too The only issue is that it doesn't have volume nob by default. It's easy to add one or you could just use the volume control in windows like I do.
  5. The largest known prime number is actually : 2^(32,582,657)â?? 1. It has 9,808,358 digits. I don't know about this prime, but the second largest prime number, 6,320,430 digits long, took just over two years to find using a distributed network of more than 200,000 computers! (http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn4438.html)
  6. How is 65,536 a prime number? It is even and thus divisible by 2.
  7. I went with: KEYWiz Eco Keyboard Encoder from groovygamegear.com Horizontal Microswitch from groovygamegear.com, but are Happ made Ultimarc Mag-Stik Plus Joysticks 3" Happ trackball new from ebay
  8. Interesting. I'll try just cleaning it out first and see how it works then.
  9. Howdy! I have a 3" Happ track ball and have noticed that having it sit in the wood shop it doesn't roll well any more. I plan on disassembling it and relubing the rollers. Has anybody done this? What did you use for lubrication? Thanks.
  10. I've brought this up several times with no avail. I think that the jump to key ability should be a option in the config instead of a standard way of running. I would think that a lot of people are having this problem.
  11. Iano is right, bucking magnets is the way to go. They will shield your speakers from damaging you screen and will cause no deterioration in your sound quality. partsexpress.com has reasonably prices for these.
  12. My high school used to use this program to prevent kids from downloading and installing games and mp3's.
  13. My pleasure!
  14. If you are downloading from a site like http://pdf.textfiles.com/manuals/ARCADE/ that only allows you to download individual files, try the DownThemAll plugin for firefox. All you have to do is right click on the site, select DownThemAll and filter to only download the pdfs. It will then download all the pdfs in that page's directory.
  15. How did you know I was a poor college student? I'm sure I'll be able to help you out though!

    Mame intro

It's sounds more like retroblast.com isn't being renovated but is shut down according to the homepage. Does anybody know anywhere else where those videos may have been hosted? I looked on byoac but I didn't see any links.
  17. You know that I'm really excited about this! I can't wait to make CP's to view for my PC games. $10 seems very reasonable at first, but when compared to what Tom asks for what he has provided; it seems high. But then again it just shows what a great bargain Game Ex is!
  18. I'll give that a try. I would have tried it first, but it is 2 hrs away .
  19. I also have the problem that when I use the next and prev track buttons defined in the custom controls ini, which I have set as k and l, Game Ex will jump to the next game starting with L or with K. To me it would make sense to be able to disable this while still allowing Shift Paging and Shift Volume. I'm pretty sure these are disabled when you disable alpha paging, or am I wrong on that?
  20. how would I ever return to Game Ex then? I have disabled the esc so that I can move around the menu structure of those games. If I would exit the game, the *.bat file would still be running and it won't return to Game Ex, right? If I use a program to kill the *.bat after some time won't it then return to Game Ex at the time and not when I actually exit the game.
  21. I'm sure that this function is operating as intended, but I am proposing that the features this enables be split up as separate options when configuring. I noticed that when enabled it allows you to jump from letter to letter in order with the keys specified in the custom controls file but it also allows pressing any key and jumping straight to that letter. I have found the first noted feature useful, and the second annoying since I have to tell player 2 to stop messing with the controls whenever we are selecting a game. Would it make sense to make these two different features instead of combined? It also might be neat to have the player 1 controls mapped to player 2 also so that either player 1 or 2 could select the game and then have game ex revert the player 2 controls back to it's original mapping when entering a game. But that may be more work than it's worth. Just some food for thought. Thanks!
  22. That's what I am doing, but I'm using a daemon script instead of a batch file. What happens is I select the script (which mounts the image and runs the appropriate .exe), the screen goes black, The screen returns to the GameEx menu where I selected the script, then then game begins. I was wondering if there is away to delay the amount of time GameEx waits before returning to the menu, because it is taking away for the image to load and the game to begin.
  23. I have Game EX setup to run daemon script to load a disc image and then start that particular application. The problem that I'm running into is that Game Ex returns to the menu before the game begins. I tried adding a wait to send keys of 10000 but it didn't help. Any Ideas on this?
  24. Wow, you guys are good!
  25. I was wondering how I would go about creating control panel layouts for pc games so that they would show when launching a game like it does for MAME. I assume this is possible is you setup PC games and a emulator with a *.lnk filter. I was also wondering if there is a way to change the button layout on the control panel that is displayed so that it mimics my layout. Thanks!
