Ah. I already fixed it and was about to use the thread for something else. Ahh. I hadn't thought of what you suggest, though no before this, the image stayed the same throughout. What worked was I changed the name of My Pictures, and then moved it to the C: directory, then moved it back. Seems to have reset it. But I googled and then checked "My Home Page", and it was not checked. So I guess I don't have an active desktop.

When I started using GameEx, again, sometimes I've pressed the Start button, to go back to the desk top and do stuff. Then click back on the task bar to resume GameEx. Sometimes, it's frozen, and I've had to ctrl+alt+del and stop GameEx. Sometimes I've had to press the restart button on my PC. In both cases, the desktop image has reverted to the default image. Also, my system (XP SP3) has started adding images to the list of available images for wallpaper. Now it seems to be all the images in My Pictures. I've found an instance or two of this online, and not with the use of GameEx (and no apparent solution), but the coincidence in this case makes me wonder. Does anyone know what, in GameEx or not, might cause this?

Well, I really prefer the interface of IE. Plus, I started having weird page freezes with FF, and I'd have to c+a+d. Don know.

I looked it up, and it says that you have to click on each link once for the favicons to show. If the plug-in solves that, I don't know why it isn't a stock feature. ?? Mmmmm, not on the first page of results, search terms being 'firefox favicon plug-in'. Nothing resulted at FF, itself, either. Also, as I can't find it, is there some way to get rid of the 'plus' boxes in the folder tree of the favorites list? Unnecessarily takes up space!

On and off through the years I've been trying GameEx. There have always been some critical issues regarding what I want in an FE, so I haven't stuck with it. Recently, I got a wild hair and decided to try IT out again. Some old features still aren't, essentially, PnP. BUT, I figured out one issue I was having with MAME32 folders ini import. The background is that every time I'd import my folders ini from MAME32, a game or two would be missing from nearly every list in GameEx. This time, only the first game of each list was missing. Hmmmmm. I wondered. Yep, the ini default format is the first game is on the next line after each list (folder) title. So I spaced it - and GameEx found those missing game names! But wait. I start up MAME32, and the game lists for those folders are blank. Ah. MAME32 requires the default format - but GameEx requires the first game name spacing. Make sense? So I created a version for GameEx, and left the original 'favorites' for MAME32. Of course, and if possible, a modification of how GameEx handles the folders ini would be optimal, but likely very few are using this feature for game lists. For those who might be, or might want to, now you know what to do if you encounter the issue I did.

Hm. Well no visual issues with FF. It is very much like IE. I still like the interface of IE better, but FF seems faster and all....so I may stick with it. No web icons are showing for my bookmarks, though....

I'm kind of used to IE. I tried FF years ago, but didn't like that it didn't tell me what was on each page in the taskbar. (This was pre-page tabs.) I tried Chrome out, but didn't like the uneven-ness of tabs when browsing different ones non-linearly. Haven't looked to see whether they changed this. It didn't seem that much faster, anyway. Oh, and I hated its default 'thumb' look - and couldn't find how to turn that off. And I don't do anything that requires plug-ins. In general, I find that things are mostly how I like them with IE, and that trying other stuff is an exercise in in....something.... But. I have had more browser crashes in the last couple months than I've had in the entirety of time I've been using XP (since '02), so.....
