IM not quite sure what's going on with the gameex update on my system, this has never happened before. The update starts, goes to the downloading portion, hangs for about a minute, then restarts gameex and wants me to update. Nothing is ever downloaded. Internet is working since netflix works fine. Would the log file have anything that might have a clue? Thanks, Troy UPDATE: None of my home computers are able to resolve gammeex.com. gameex.info and every other site on the internet is ok. Now THIS is a new one.

I saw the update notes about improved Daphne support, but I dont see Daphne in the list of downloadable editors in the Setup Wizard, so Im a little confused what the improved support is. Can somebody fill me in? I had it working a while back, but formatted the machine, and now want to re-add it, so I thought "Great! Easy install!" but I still dont see it in that install list, so Im confused what the improved support is. Am I missing it? Thanks! Troy

Hello, I upgraded to the latest version and download the "Abyss" theme to make sure I had a newer theme. The log file is from 12.02 since I didn't see the new version notice for 12.04 until after I copied and emailed the logs to myself. Version 12.04 is behaving the same way, however. The top menu bar buttons are "active" but not visible during video playback. I dont see anything in the log, other than numerous path errors, but you guys know it better than I. Thanks for any help, this is a recent development. tr_gameex_log.txt tr_gameexini.txt

Thanks, I will give it a try. Is the ForeGroundTopMost=True setting someplace easy via the "wizard" or "advanced configuration" program? I wont be able to post my config until tonight. Thanks for the ideas. This really is the #1 front end, love it!

I just went through Deep Purple and Media Center, both had the issue. Not surprising since it is when the screen "banks" I havent downloaded any new themes in a long time, ill give that a try. If that doesn't work, Ill get my configs out and post them, probably tomorrow. Not sure why it suddenly happened. Troy

I'll be happy to post my configs again, but I was wondering if anybody else has reported the top menus not being visible when playing dvds or videos anymore? Ie: the back, exit, pause, volume controls at the top of the screen. They still "work" since I know where they are my heart, but they do not display. I'll try switching to a few more themes, but before I spend hours troubleshooting I was just wondering if others might have the same issue. Just happened with the latest update. (Im not sure what my configs would show anyway, really...) thanks.

Ok, here is what I found out. Somehow my DVD codecs got corrupted. The Shark007 codecs would not function as DVD codecs on my computer (if they even are.) So, I paid a small fee for the Cyberlink SE codec only, then reinstalled Shark007. The Shark007 codecs were making my audio sound reversed. In the audio options, it was automatically choosing the 7 speaker output instead of 2 channel. Changed that to 2 channel, and audio seems fine. The captions? Well, I think that could be part of the DVD itself, turning captions on by default. Even if I set Shark007 to no captions, they show up. (probably because within GameEx im using the Cyberlink codec, not shark007). I have come to the conclusion that the Saitek keyboard which makes doing searches impossible is also responsible for the "page down" key not turning the captions off as well. Have not tested this with a different keyboard. So, I would mark this as resolved, even though it is "not quite" resolved on my part. Thanks for the assistance.

I installed the cyberlink SE codec and fiddled with settings and DVDs play again within GameEx, and the audio sounds right (i think) - Captions still play on some of the older DVDs, even though the shark configuration says No subtitles. I think the universe just hates me, but i guess this is better than nothing.
-
Ive always used the Advanced Configuration tool. Regardless, same result - Windows MP cant play the DVDs, it is now telling me to lower my display settings, and there is no "lower" than 640x480. Ill just have to buy PowerDVD again, as my version was a previous one and I cant find my install. Will try that.
-
Yeah for whatever reason I cannot find "DVD use FFDSHOW" in the Advanced Configuration utility at all. Have looked several times through all of the menus... just can't find that one.
-
Codec is set to ffdshow, and and Use VRM9 is set to yes. I cant find "Use FFDSHOW" When I was having problems a year ago, I had to buy Cyberlink to get DVDs to run at all, now that codec has disappeared entirely. So when I choose play, it beeps and comes back to the menu. So, my codecs are definitely hosed again. Windows media player wont even play them either. Back to the drawing board. I see where the setup file has the setting "DVD use FFDSHOW" on the screenshots at http://www.gameex.net/Support/SetupWizardFirstUse.aspx, but my settings go from Codec to VMR9, and there isnt "DVD use FFDSHOW" anywhere. Thoughts? Should I run gameex full setup again? Troy

Well, i played with the shark007 codec configuration and got the audio to normal, but subtitles off didnt work. Now, I just switched to ffdshow in the GameEx configuration and it wont play the DVDs at all anymore. I should have quit while I was ahead. Ha

keyboard plugs into back of cpu, so it would be a pain to unplug/plug back in without mounting usb ports in the cab drawer. No, havent tried unplugging it. Do all USB keyboards have this issue, or is it a saitek specific one?
-
Checked media player... same thing, audio reversed. Looked at settings and googled it, cant seem to find a fix. I tried to see if there was an update, but Im running the latest xp version. As an aside, I also cant get the subtitles off when playing some DVDs within gameex, pagedown does nothing. I think the pagedown not working is a result of the saitek usb keyboard, and the subtitles a result of some dvds defaulting to subtitles on. Out of curiosity, do most people use a "normal" keyboard, my other thread regrding the saitek usb keyboard has me wondering if I need either a ps/2 or a different company usb keyboard to get things to function correctly.

I am running the latest version of MAME. I believe I have the following codecs installed: Shark007 Cyberlink PowerDVD (installed with the Cyberlink software. Description of problem: Within GameEx, when playing a DVD, my audio seems reversed. Ie: If playing a DVD either by ISO or by physical DVD, the "incidental" tracks are loudest, and the main audio is very faint. Im not sure if its left/right, AC3 or what, as I dont think you can toggle audio modes within GameEx, or can you? If I play the same ISO/DVD through a standalone media player (ie: Cyberlink) the DVD plays correctly. My configs are attached. The solution might be simply to launch the external player when playing DVDs... trutter_log.txt trutter_gameexconf.txt

Sorry about that, Im updating to the newest version now and will post the file here shortly. Maybe it will give you a clue on the keyboard error too.

Ive had an issue with the Search function since day one, and Im still trying to troubleshoot. Since there is no "error" im not sure this can ever be fixed. I am using a Saitek USB keyboard in my cabinet, and I have a Slikstick control panel. When typing anything out, including search, all of the keys map properly except the "a" key. Its a slik stick control panel. ] The specs are here: http://www.jdrobbins.com/mamecab.html Is there any way to troubleshoot this? Also, using the trackball and the fire button wont select the letters, so I pretty much can't search no matter what I do. This is one of the last "quirks" Ive come up with, and some day Id really like to squash it. Any thoughts?

I still having this issue, not sure how to even begin to troubleshoot. Audio in GameEx reverse, but in a regular DVD player software its fine. Perhaps Ill just play them in the external player, if I figure out how to do that.
-
Hi there, I'll try and generate it and post it. I am still having the issue. :/ What is weird is that it only seems to be the in-program player that is the issue. If I play the DVD through an actual player, the audio is fine. That is why I don't think it is a codec issue, or that I "have my wires crossed." If I play it in Gameex, the audio is reversed, if i play it through a standalone player, its perfectly fine. The easy thing to do is convert the ISO's to avi's or something, but it would be nice to nip this problem the real way. I dont think the ini files will show anything, but Ill try and run it and post it. Thanks!

I have a strange issue, and it only occurs inside gameex using the built in DVD player. The audio channels sound reversed... ie: the dialog track is oftentimes quieter than the music track. Left/Right seem exactly reversed. However, if I load the DVD image into Cyberlink directly, the audio plays fine. Is there a setting I might be missing that might fix this? I have spent a few hours trying to troublehsoot this, and I can't seem to think of any other way to get around it other than to use cyblerlink as the external player - which is not my ideal. Any advice or suggestions is appreciated.

I don't think im using attract mode, but the logo, rom info and rating still show up at the bottom. I will check. thanks.

Is there a way to turn off the Gameex, game name, stars, manufacturer, etc graphic at the bottom of the screen when playing a game that is using the default gameex bezel? If I have a custom bezel I can turn it off, but if it is using the gameex bezel, it turns off the bezel AND the info at the bottom. I just dont want the bottom one with all the game info and gameex logo.
