  1. Yeah, I know... rapidshare kind of sucks. After uploading all those yesterday I see it says each can only be downloaded 10 times. All day today been trying to upload the logo menu selections (including the ones you mentioned), but it keeps "loosing the connection" it says. Anyone know of a better and less restrictive way (both for uploading and downloading) to put all these files out there for download?
  2. 5th and final batch of widescreen 16:9 style theme background avis http://rapidshare.com/files/250659782/TV_Uber.zip.html http://rapidshare.com/files/250659783/TV_Unwound.zip.html http://rapidshare.com/files/250659785/TV_W...y_Hall.zip.html http://rapidshare.com/files/250659787/TV_Wound_Up.zip.html Next up, the logo avi menu selection files later today. I will post that in a different thread... P.S. TEMPEST: Thanks for the AHK file idea for random backgrounds. Unfortunately although the script works great outside of GameEx, when trying any of the 4 settings for launch on start or exit GameEx crashes. Probably having something to do with changing the startbak.avi file while it is beig accessed by GameEx, at least that is my guess. Any ideas? Thanks!

  5. The spinner I mentioned before.. Well I am wondering maybe if it is defective, can't get it to work in windows even at all... My other problem is the RGB light setup. In reading what I could, I have tried multiple settings with LED blinky and the LED plugin here from HeadKaze; but it is driving me batty. Regardless of what I try to set my inputs to in either plug in, only the trackball, the 3 buttons left of the trackballl and a couple buttons on payers 1 and 2 are lighting up and working. It's about a third of what should be working. Anyone ever had only 1 of 3 LEDwizes show up at all? Any ideas? EDIT: I knew if I gave up and posted THEN I would figure out what was wrong! I tried to see if I could delete this post but see no options to. In crawling down into the cab with a flashlight I found an obscure blue usb cord near the power outlet nowhere near the PC. In tracking it it ended in the wiring of the control panel somewhere under the other wires tied in. I plugged it into the PC, and got hit with multiple Windows "badings"... music to my ears. Now in attract mode all LEDs lit up; and the roller moves the cursor. Eureka! Paydirt!

  7. Thanks for the help Tempest. I think I identified why it wasn't working very well for me in separating out the players and alternating flags. In choosing numPlayers="2"' whether it was 1,2,3,4,, or more the total came out to only a couple thousand ROMs since it is a flag missing in many of them (tried a search with just the word and no specified number for total found in ROMlister with that tag). However... lower down in the ROM description there is a tag of 'input players="2"' seems to be the better choice... on a search with just the words together it seemed to be a flag on all the ROMs. Then will do alternating and then work with the CFG magician. Thanks again.
  8. This is the first batch of TunnelVision (widescreen) backgrounds. There are numerous choices to use as you can see from the video in this thread. The TunnelVision logo has also been removed fom the AVIs so you can choose to use these in TunnelVision or in any other theme if you want. The backgrounds (and menu logo AVIs to follow) are too large for me to host online, so I had to up them to rapidshare, so look at the video montage in this thread to identify the ones that catch your eye so you can download that one(s) specifically. I tweaked the theme files itself so normal movie files take up all of the image1 window (think circo's MAME game preview HQ AVIs). Also took out font types in the theme ini so you just use the font style already selected in your advanced config. The edited theme itself (Version 2.0 now I guess): http://www.invincer.com/TunnelVision/Tunne...n(1280x720).zip you will have to download this so the files are all located in your GameEx\Themes\TunnelVision(1280x720) folder. Duh, you knew this I know... The above theme is raw, no videos in it at all, with still backgrounds where all the avis will or can go. The main two AVIs I will host to make it easier and faster to get to... The main background avi (Startbak.avi) : http://www.invincer.com/TunnelVision/Tunne...ionStartbak.zip make sure it is in the media folder (doo NOT delete the BMP file in the directory with the same name, GameEx won't use the theme if it can't see there is a bmp placeholder there I guess). The intro movie animated background: http://www.invincer.com/TunnelVision/Tunne...nIntroMovie.zip make sure to have this file in the Intro Movie folder if you wan an animated intro I will post the background files as they finish and become available on Rapid Share (takes about 1 and a half hours to upload 200 megs.. The first batch are... http://rapidshare.com/files/250490277/Clean_Reel.zip.html http://rapidshare.com/files/250490278/Jukebox.zip.html http://rapidshare.com/files/250490281/Plas...ethora.zip.html http://rapidshare.com/files/250490284/Stra..._Score.zip.html http://rapidshare.com/files/250490286/TV_B...Tunnel.zip.html Will post again in about an hour as batch two completes uploading. In using these files, remember to just name them the appropriate background avi name and put it in the theme's media folder. For instance you may want the jukebox avi to be the animated jukebox background (looks very cool too), so it has to be named jukeboxbak.avi and has to be in the media folder, simple as that. The following are the names you can use with separate avi backgrounds. Startak.avi : the main startup animated backgound and the one you may see the most. Jukeboxbak.avi : the animated avi for the jukebox section of GameEx. Picturesbak.avi : the animated avi for the your pictures section of GameEx. Videosbak.avi : the animated avi for the video section of GameEx. emusbak.avi : the animated avi for the emulators that are not MAME or Daphne. daphnebak.avi : the animated avi for the Daphne section of GameEx. bak.avi : the animated avi for the MAME section of GameEx. If these upload fine and no one has problems on them, the animated menu logo avis are next to be uploaded to RapidShare...
  9. Thanks Tempest, uploading some of the backgrounds to RapidShare now. Will post links when ready (uploaded some at lunch, but power went off evidently before it was finished). I don't know what everyone else might think, but I think it would be very cool if a theme were able to launch a random avi from a favorite avi background directory; especially if they were all aligned to work with that theme as these tunnelvision ones were. However, I have taken off the tunnelvision logo so you can pick and choose whichever you like and use on whatever theme you may want. Will check out the radomizing to see how it works.. I also tweaked the main theme a bit, and stripped it of all the avis to make it an easier download, then you can pick and choose the backgrounds and menu selections you want. I also made the avi window perfectly sized for videos of the high quality circo MAME variety. I willl be keeping that size window on the 4:3 theme so there are not multiple menu selections to download, the menu selection logo avis will work in either. Switched the font back because it was yucky on the cab, so you can control your own fonts through the GameEx advanced config. Use your own favorite and there is no more tunnellvision logo for it to clash with. The 4:3 tunnelvision theme backgrounds will be different. Anyways will post again when the rapidshare files are ready (slooooow uploads).
  10. Okay.... never mind about the cfg files reading wrong in GameEx; I figured it out... and I am not telling you what was wrong because it was sooooo stupid for me to have missed. At work, me and some friends used to tell people that were missing something simple on the computer that it was an ID ten T error. They would go "ooooh.... I knew something was wrong with the computer.... so what is an ID ten T error?" I would tell them to take out a pen and sheet of paper to spell it out and they would see.... ID ten T.... spelled out... I D 10 T...... I D 1 0 T That's the kind of error I made here... Now, if only the spinner were an ID10T error.... changed USB plugs, no wires loose, DA says it should be plug and play for Windows to recognize it... I am at a loss so far...
  11. You may be right, now that I have the theme on my cab, I think it might look better without the tunnelvision logo, then i will be easier to mix and match animated backgrounds... An idea, any or you scriptwriters out here think you could come up with a script that would randomize avi backgrounds for the start up avi in GameEx if a folder has them ready similar to the way the intro avi can do it? That would be extremely cool! TOM: Please contact me, I don't think my PMs may have worked to you. If you want me to FTP the avis to you I need to know the login etc. Otherwise I will have to try clumping them together and host on a megafile type site like rapidshare (which every one hates downloading large files from). Let me know what you want to do, meanwhile tomorrow I think I will rerun the projects in Premier and exclude the tunnelvision logo unless people post that they want it to stay on; which I doubt.
  12. Still haven't figured out how to map the spinner, will try unplugging it and plugging in different USB tonight to see if it comes up recognized. Back to the original issue; I am having to launch my games thorough MAME32ui, still unable to use GameEx because for some reason it isn't reading the cfgs in the MAME\cfg folder... any other ideas? I sidetracked my own thread question with the spinner post (and in the post misspelled "now" as "no" so it sounded like my original problem and the spinner were related. But in the words of Peter David, "but I digress..."
  13. Hi Tempest, I am new to using the ROM lister and the CFG Magician. In ROM lister I went in and made lists of 4 ways, 8 ways etc (separate lists for how many buttons, not 7 or less because the number matters on where to locate them). But there is no option for 1 player only, 2 player only alternating, 1 or 2 player, 1 or 2 player alternating, 3 players, 1 or 2 or 3 players, 1-3 players alternating, 4 players; and I would need to multiply this somehow wth all the lists already created with ROMlister because the controls will differentiate. For instance, a 1 or 2 player game. There are the left side controls, the center controls, and the right side controls. I am mapping player 1 controls to both the left and center positions because if playing solo it is the best position in the center. If playing 2 players, player 1 moves to the left side and player 2 takes the right, so neither is in the center. Make a fair match and less cumbersome. 3 players control panels are not the norm I know... Is there any way then for ROMlister and CFG Magician to do this for me?
  14. Well this is kind of what is throwing me; Windows doesn't seem to recognize it at all. I spin it and it does nothing, in MAME, in windows, and I don't know if it could be on the control panel because nothing in there or in device settings says anything about a spinner or anything identifiable... It is just black smooth metal, not cheaply made, but nothing really distinguishable about it... EDIT: This is the product page on it at DA: http://store.dreamauthentics.com/dreamstor...Control%20Panel
  15. Well at least I know the Neo Geo ones are the same all the way around. No I am running into the ones with he spinner not working. I have tried mapping as a mouse but no luck. I don't know what tye of spinner they intalled, but when I do the config in a game, it doesn't pick anything up. The trackball picks up the axis and I would have thought the spinner would be similar, but MAME ignores it. Any ideas? Anyone else have problems getting a spinner recognized in the MAME cfgs on a cab? P.S. Tom, if you see this I PMed you early yesterday about the FTP; I am not sure if you got it. Let me know if you did or didn't. Thanks
  16. Yeah, I tried the CFGmagician; but I want to configure some games that have alt players both on the center controls, some with either or options; like 1 or 2 player mode with left and center mapped to player 1 and right side mapped to right side controls. If one person plays center while other has to play left or right it can be unfair advantage.... it is kind of a game by game situation (not to mention the dipswitch thing and the video cropping or full which is game by game also). If there is a software out there that can read my mind and input the custom cfgs before I get in each game to know what I want; then let me know. If there ever is one someone here may come up with it though... In case you could not tell from all my posts, I am finicky, and never can stop tweaking things. Thank God for deadlines at work; doesn't matter how far ahead of schedule I start something, I will tweak it forever till deadline. But I digress..... Want to hide the desktop and Vista can't sufficiantlly do that on start with the boot screen. Besides, I hate Vista with a passion. It is an unfinished product and is this century's ME in my opinion. Even on my main HDTV I got so sick of the crashes and bugs; I uploaded to test Wndows 7 against others advice. They just don't understand how much I hated Vista. Funny thing is the beta for me is more stable than Vista Ultimate was... lol . At least is has been for me... Sp I knew I wanted XP, but I didn't know I should get the 64 version; so thanks guys..
  17. c:\mame\cfg which should be fine... in gamex on the advanced command line its -nowindow -joy -skip_gameinfo -autosave
  18. Okay, trying to get some configs working for MAME so I can actually play these on my cab. CFG magician was too broad, so I am going to edit them one by one.... should be done by at least year 3022. But that's beside the point... When I set up a cfg exactly how I want it for a game, it works fine when I launch it in MAME32ui from that big sloppy menu; but when I exit out of that and use GameEx, it doesn't use the custom cfg fro the game from the mame\cfg directory. In the advanced config screen there doesn't seem to be a path even to the MAME cfgs. I thought it could somehow be connected to CPWizard, but I turned off that option in GameEx config and tried again but still not using the game's custom cfg. What am I missing here? Anybody? I know it has to be simple and I am overlooking something...
  19. Thanks for the input Headkaze it was extremely helpful. I had assumed to NOT use the 64 bit OS; thinking I wanted the compatibility of the 32 bit (the same reason of using XP instead of Vista). With the 64 bit, won't there be a ton of emulators I will be unable to use? And MAME is fully functional with the 64 bit architecture? Yes, coolong is an issue I am worried about. In a cab in the Summer with heat indexes in Savannah reaching 110 degrees it HAS to be an issue. I wish we used Celsius instead of farenheit because then it would be only 36.6 degrees. Would it be a good idea to try water cooling it or might that be bad inside a cab where moisture might build up? The inability to upgrade anything on the emachine is the worst part of all. I already have three 1.5 terrabyte seagate HDs completely filled with ROMs for dozens of emulators I have been collecting since I ordered the cab. (Plus two 500 GB externals full, so time to get another 1.5er). But I can't put these in this machine. There is no serial port which I need for the betabrite sign I purchased to use on the super LED plugin that a GENIUS must have made (now if I can just figure out how to get all my buttons to flash) and no place to install a serial card. I have a 2nd monitor of the 7" touchscreen variety I wanted to install above the main screen, this thing has no second video out and can't install any cards. I have 3D edimensional glasses I wanted to test out, but not on this card (was for the TV but would be cool on the cab too... doubtful it would work though because the screen isn't high enough of a refresh rate). I also have some ambient lighting ordered from http://www.arfx.nl/ for the back of the cab to bathe the room in cab game lights...2 topguns for MAME... there's more but at least these should work on the emachine. For some reason my Xwife says I tend to go overboard and take things to the extreme. Any idea what she might have meant by that? I haven't a clue. I have no idea if what they used for the cab controls. Are these things difficult to install on a fresh OS? I can't imagine it would be a simple plug and play...
  20. Invincer

    controls.xml

Trying to use ROMlister for the first time and one of the files needed is controls.xml from the fedonkey sit and it isdown.I found an d o from like 2007; anyone got a more recent one?
  21. Yeah, I could take the logo off entirely like on the jukebox background if that is how people want. Anything else in mind to go there or just leave that area blank? I had been flirting with the idea of dropping it all together anyways as on the cab the 3d movements don't look as good... If I do take it off it will take a while to rerun them through Premier Pro
  22. Okay, there is no way as crappy as the emachine is in there that I can live with that little engine that couldn't. I am going to upgrade the guts, going on newegg now, not wanting to go crazy (the arcade cost enough by itself, so budget is now limited). Any opinions or recommendations on these selections? I want to be able to emulate some systems from this century actually too. 23. The logo avi files are ready to go, I just have to upload them to Tom's FTP (which he graciously offered last night). He may not have known the size though There is also the assortment of background tunnel images you can choose from as well (about 30). These are all customizable for you. In regards to the menu selection logos as you may have seen in the theme youtube video you can download and custom map the ones you want/will use and you can do it for the TunnelVision theme or any other theme you may be using. I made the videos the same size as the HQ avis Circo made for MAME. This way if themes display the MAME videos well, then these should fit the same size for you (Doesn't matter if you use 16:9 or 4:3). When I make the 4:3 TunnelVision edition the image 1 field will be the same dimensions so there won't be 2 separate avis for download, 1 for 16:9 and one for 4:3. (The backgrounds will however have to be different of course) Speaking of the backgrounds, you can pick and choose which ones you want to try from the following youtube video montage. I understand some of what Brian is saying... The default avi looks great on my HDTV, but not as good on my new cab (kinda chokes on it with that measly emachine junk in there). Also, my cab is in my Living Room not far from my TV. Though it will be cool to run both with similar themes, by changing backgrounds on each that can make them unique. Check out the montage... You may notice near the end some non TunnelVision themes that my be good for Jukebox, Karaoke, Videos, and DVDs... I have used these tunnel or not because they look good as that type of background in the appropriate area (especially jukebox). There will be some different backgrounds for the 4:3 theme... just to change the tunnels up a bit. Regardless of just gaming or media center; HDTV or cab, you should find some that appeal to your tastes (I hope). When all the files have been uploaded to an FTP then you will be informed where you can download all of these from (Tom can decide how he thinks it is best to do that)... So should I start working on emu/MAME/game menu selections for the Theme?
  24. I suspected it wouldnt be much of a computer. they told me it was their best model, but when I heard onboard video and only 1 gig memory I had my worries. A stinking emachine of a 300 dollar variety Idid not expect. There is no room for a card to put up my betabrite sign i had purchased I knew there would be some upgrading needed, but not the starting from scrath and build a whole new rig for it. Dont get me wrong, it looks and feels awesome, theres just a long way to go to get it where i want it powerwise I did get some MAME games to work some while some friends were here. We were talking about MJ and the subject came up of the video game he was on, and we played it. That game was so wrong on so many levels...
  25. Damn Brian; how'd you know! I got home and it was sitting in front of my door... Just kidding of course. Well it's here, and it looks awesome I admit. I setup logmein this morning when it got here (the company called them and they seemed to have a whole different tune than last night and got it here before 10), and from work started moving MAME files to the cab (don't tell my Boss) from my other computer (had to make the most of the time I wasn't here). Unfortunately I see working with a control panel, especially this one, may be a bit more difficult than a gamepad on my big screen. I moved all my config stuff from GameEx over but it crashes when I start MAME. I am sure I will figure it out, if I start MAMEui the game can start but the controls seem a bit off. I guess it's time to start trying to learn about the CFG magiciaan, ROMlister etc. Unfortunately I had 13 messages from friends wanting to know if I got it yet. It really isn't playable or for show yet; but they will start knocking soon. Oh well... My only real disappointment is the lack of power emachine that came in it. It seems it is like buying a Ferrari, and when you get it home you find it came with a V4 engine. I will have to start changing the engine out soon as I can I guess. At least I have the weekend to start figuring things out. I will have to get Cyberball working though, I spent so many quarters on it back in the day.... and Rastan....and Metal Slug, and... the list goes on... In regards to the TunnelVision theme I have the files zipped, just have to upload to the website if there is room and upload a little montage to youtube to show all he backgrounds with names. That way anyone interested in ones they see on the avi montage can just download what they want and rename it to the appropriate bak file. I will try to get that up before I go to bed..... IF I go to bed tonight..
