  1. Please advise on what I must do to get GameEx working on my system. I'm getting the following script. In addition, how do I recover the GameEx script I was sent by Tom following my donation -- my computer crashed recently, and I lost the file. Thanks! 2. Question -- in order to get GameExtender to work when I launch GameEx on my system, does a second party have to have GameEx installed on their system? Tried using the default IP and the IP associated with my network - plus the port # -but I'm having a hard time getting this to work. Any help appreciated. Tarsis
  3. Seem to be having a problem playing music using the jukebox function through the latest version of GameEx. When I'm on the menu, the music plays fine. However, about 2-3 minutes into any game I launch, the music will periodically skip. I've defragged my disks, and disable auto-protect on Norton when using GameEX -- but the problem continues. Thinking I have a situation here where the ROM game and music are fighting for memory. Thoughts or possible solutions appreciated. I have a 1.6 Ghz processor and 1 GB RAM. Tarsis

    Music Problems

Wondering if anyone can give me advice on how I can stop my music from skipping while playing a game through GameEx. The jukebox is disabled, but I have music playing from a folder. It seems to play fine while I'm on the GameEx menu, but once I start up a MAME game (particularly newer ones) the songs have a tendency to skip every 2-3 mintues -- like it'll stick on a lyric and then continue forward. Any advice on tweaks, etc. I can make to eliminate this problem appreciated. Tarsis
  5. Well, I fumbled with some of the settings in the MAME32 program and now I'm at least able to get a game started -- if only for about 30 seconds, then it stops and goes back to the GameEx menu. Namely, I set DirectDraw to just triple buffer, and also turned on the RDTSC timing system and high thread priority. I did notice that when I turned off high thread priority, the games simply would not load at all. So, now I'm trying to get the game to run for more than just 30 seconds.... Trial and error... Tarsis
  6. Just installed 5.29 and having problems loading game through recent build of MAME32 (0.102.0.0). Checked the GameEx log and this is what it states: Running: cmd.exe /c C: C:\Mame32\Mame32.exe pacman -rompath J:\roms -skip_disclaimer -skip_gameinfo -ftr 1 -triplebuffer -nowindow -joy However, when I try to load a game the screen flashes to black, and after about 5 seconds, I'm back to the GameEx menu. It's almost like the program isn't communicating properly with MAME. Hoping someone can help me. Tarsis
  7. Bingo - Started fresh with Directx 9.0c and all is now working fine. Go figure. Thanks for your help, everyone!
  8. Thanks for your input, everyone -- I'm still baffled by my problem. When I open roms directly through ZetaMame, MAME, and MisfitMame the program just disappears. Same problem when I try to configure each program. I'm almost thinking its a direct x problem?!?!
  9. I know that this question isn't exactly related to GameEx per se, but hoping someone can help me. I seem to suddenly be having trouble opening up roms using ZetaMAME32en_099 -- it's a problem I noticed when using the latest build of GameEx. So, I tried opening the roms up directly using ZetaMAME and every time I launch a game, the program just disappears -- it shuts down automatically. I'm having the same trouble when I use the latest standard MAME build -- games do not launch and the program shuts down automatically. Hoping someone might have some ideas on what might be wrong. Tarsis
  10. Well, I downloaded 4.96 and reinstalled Direct X 9.0c and continue to have the same problems I originally mentioned. Not sure what the problem is.... Tarsis
  11. Just installed 4.95 and seem to be having a problem running video in attract mode. I have GameEx set to a 1/1 ratio for games and video (using commercials from the MAMEWAH pack). However, the videos are not playing, only games. This was not a problem in previous versions. Odd thing is, I can play the videos fine when I choose to play them from the GameEx menu. Oh, one more thing, when I set a video to play at startup -- I get a blank screen, but am able to hear the video playing. All of this is quite wierd. Please help! Tarsis
  12. A question regarding the new Attract Mode Screensaver option -- that is, playing commercials (such as those from the MAMEWAH pack) along with game samples. Will this option only work with DIVX-encoded videos? I'd like to get it to play mpegs, but it doesn't seem to be working. Please advise. Tarsis
  13. That seems to have done the trick. Thanks! I was using bittorrent
  14. Is anyone else having trouble getting the MameWah Commercial Set bittorrent to run properly? I'm launching it from the emumovies site that Tom recommended, but when it starts, it's telling me the following: "EmuMovies Video Game Commercial Pack for MameWah" : IO Error [Errno 2] No such file or directory: EmuMovies Video Game Commercial Pack for MameWah\\(GBA) Pok?n Ruby & Sapphire (U) - AD.avi' Hope someone can help Tarsis
  15. Is anyone else having problems listening to Internet radio stations in GameEx that are native to Windows media and RealPlayer? For example, I've added the following links but I can't seem to get them to play in GameEx. Please advise... mms://ms1.capitalinteractive.co.uk/gold_high rtsp://rmlivev8.bbc.net.uk/farm/*/ev7/live24/radio5/live/r5_tl_int_g2.ra Tarsis
  16. Trying to get the Video Fun theme to work in 3.60, but it's keeping GameEx from starting properly (I get an error message). From what I read in the news flash, I need RadioBak.bmp and Picctures.bak. Please advise where I can get these files and where I need to place them in the GameEx folders. Thanks! Tarsis
  17. Any ideas on what I can do to expand the size of NeoGeo games, such as Metal Slug X, on my computer screen? Right now, the games appear in a relatively small box in the middle of my screen. Is that just how NeoGeo games are? I don't have this problem with other mame games Please advise... Tarsis
  18. For those of us who do not own a cabinet to play MAME games, does anyone know if a stand is sold to fit the X Arcade Joystick? I'd like to place the controller on a stand so I can play games standing up in front of my computer, instead of placing the controller on my computer desk or on my lap. Thanks! Tarsis
  19. Can you tell me where I can download mame_videos_shrunk? Thanks! Tarsis

    ColecoVision

Can anyone recommend a good emulator for ColecoVision games and where I might be able to dowload it from? I recently obtained numerous ColecoVision ROMS but have no way to play them through GameEX.
  21. Any tips on how to get the arcade-x joystick to work with advancemame through GameEX? This seemed so much easier to do when just using Mame32
  22. Can someone help?...I don't know what I need to do to install advancemame on my Windows XP machine and then get it to work with GameEX. Thanks!
  23. I'm new to the MAME experience and just downloaded the latest version of Advancemame for widows (binary pentium). I unzipped the file and now I have a open folder with several files in front of me -- not sure what to click on next and get it to work with GameEX. I've heard amazing things about Advancemame, but it seems much more complicated than Mame32. Hoping someone can take me through the steps. Tarsis

    Journey

Tom- You are Da Man! Quick question -- I have the MAME Roms for a 1982 game called Journey (yes, the game featuring the band). However, GameEX doesn't list this game. Any reason why? Tarsis
