  1. Good call on the windows theme Dazzle. I just started using a android remote desktop app so my kids can watch their cartoon while im messing around with configuring GameEx. It works great but automatically makes windows drop out of areo theme. Switched back and s all now back to normal guess i just need to remember to switch it back when im going to main computer after using RD. thanks
  2. I have a new problem with the custom menu program. when I open it the the left folder style window is quite big and the right selection window is too small and is cutting off parts of it where selection need to be chosen. So about 1/3 of the selection pane is hidden beyond the right window frame. There seems to be now way to drag the divider bar between the two pane to change their sizes. Not sure if this has anything to do with the update.

    Input Error

Yeah Null is right just use the keyboard input section instead of the joystick section and if your using mame just hit the tab key after starting a game to set up the "general" input section to set it up for use for all mame played games. One note my cab had a older ipac with all the default settings still set and one thing that kept bugging me was the exit key was mapped to a letter like "c" or "v" and I had my GameEX's game list set to go to the first letter of any keystroke I would hit for quicker navigation so the problems was that if I hit "c" to start my game list with games that start with c it would exit out of gameEx. I ended up downloading the ipac remapping utility to set exit to the more common escape button to solve the problem.
  4. Oh sorry null you posted just as i was trying to type. but you where right! crazy how one little oversite can make this happen. Sorry about all this and thanks so much.I am sure you haven't heard the last from me as i am having fun setting this all up and customizing it. well I better get some sleep heading to Jamaica in the morning. See ya mon.
  5. OMG!!! I found the problem and your never going to believe how stupid it was. I was just about to try making some map files when i decided to start the wizard to enable the gameEx auto update as i saw a new version has a ma builder built in. when I start the wizard I always start in custom mode and as i was looking for the section with the auto update checkmark I decided to go into the emulator groups area and lo and behold it was enabled with emu's 123456. I kinda remember playing with this section a while back wondering what it did. guess i know now.
  6. Hi Dazzle. I rechecked the roms and directories again and they are all completely separated into their own rom system subfolders under the main "rom" folder as I showed above in a previous post. I too once thought it had something to do with mess as my post topic implies since all the atari systems seemed to be merged however since the start of this post it has now effected atari jaguar using the virtual Jaguar emu, odyssey 2 using the od2em emulator as well as the intellivision using the bliss emu. by the way I only have 2 roms in both the Jaguar and odyssey 2 rom folders and all 4 of those games show up in all the effected games lists as well. null, tried both ideas with no change. it kinda reminds me of the mame all games list. it just so strange that is only effecting my first 6 emulators on my list and not the rest.
  7. Oh sorry I thought I posted the ini on my first post. I will try again. Yes these merged games run fine no matter which one I pick or even which system I pick. If I pick atari 2600 it will run both 2600 and the 5200 games. If I pick 7800 it will run 2600, 5200 and 7800 etc. It seems like an all games list. Just double checked but it seems to be merging 2600, 5200, 7800, jaguar, odyssey 2, and intellivion systems. turbografx16, NES, SNES, N64 all sega's systems are normal. GameEx.ini
  8. Oh and I do have it configured in the wizard to point to the proper rom folder areas.
  9. All my roms are in separate rom subfolders. I put them in the gameEx made Rom file with each system having its own rom folder. c: roms atari 2600 roms atari 5200 roms atari 7800 roms atari jaguar roms odyssey 2 roms NES roms SNES roms and so on Funny thing is that it seems to only be merging all the atari system games and the odyssey games not the NES or SNES. I did have to create a roms folder in the Mess folder and put the bios only in it for mess to work certain systems properly. Which took me a while to figure out because I could not find any info on how to set that up and I put the bios in every folder I could think of before stumbling upon making a bios ROM folder inside mess. But I digress this has nothing to do with the game list merging problem as it was doing this before my bios problems so any ideas?
  10. trying to set up atari 2600, 5200 and 7800 as well as a few other I have not set up completely yet. The problem i am having is that the game list for each system using mess emu gives me the all the games for all systems listed together and the games will all play no matter which system I chose. I check the map files in the data folder tried using and not using the database option in the gameEx wizard. I am not sure what else to do.
  11. Thanks I will try those things out next time im working on my game room arcade machine. Now im working on my living room TV gameEX SETUP.
  12. I am getting a GameEx crash after exiting a game in mame. The strange thing is that I have it set up as a mame emulator #9 for a map file for a category but I also have many other mame emulator(6,7 & 8) set up for other categories that work fine using the same settings. Basically any game I exit in that category which uses mame in the #9 spot crashes GameEx and all other mame emulators I have set up the same in spots 6,7,8 work fine. GameEx.ini log.txt
  13. Great info nullPointer. Thanks for taking the time to type it out cant wait to give it a try.
  14. Thanks. I havent gotten around to playing with Zinc yet. The reason I was asking is that my Zinc runs from the GameEx main Zinc setup but not through added it as an emulator. I am sure I can figure it out with some more time as I have been concentrating on the mame and console end of it. I have already done as you suggested and made a custom menu for each of the categories I wanted and assigned an emulator slot for each. It does take a ton of time going through all the roms and picking out what games I want in each category and then making a .map file for them but at least it has only what I want in them. Right now my menu structure has a main menu of Arcade Games and Console Games then a sub menu for Arcade Games with all Games, Fighting games, Sports Games, Racing/Flying Games, and my favorite one the Cool & Unusual Games. Then my Console sub Menu has Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Genesis, and Turbograx 16. This menu structure seem to be the simplest for new players to understand. Now I need to figure out how to layout a virtual control panel that can show them what all the buttons do for each situation.
  15. Can Zinc be added to the custom menu list like mame and daphne? there does not seem to be a selection for it. is the only way to add is as an emulator? It is setup in the wizard like mame and daphne and not as an added emulator. My next question is about making a list file of games under mame. I would like to have a selection under mame menu for "all games" thats no problem but i would also like to have "fighting games" and "classic arcade games" etc. I dont really see how to do this or add the specific games to it. I did read the pin post about making custom menu but did not really see anything about this. Thanks
