  1. Forcing the default settings brought it back. Is there anything from the UserData Folder that I could zip up and send so you could take a look at it? Thanks!
  2. I guess reinstalling .net on Windows 10 is not that straight forward. I can't seem to find an uninstall. When I try to reinstall it says I already have the latest version and stops. I did reinstall GameEx Evo 1.05, but still no luck. Any other things I might try or information I could provide to help debug? Thanks!
  3. All the emulators seem to work running something from the SetupWizard. I tried the .net repair tool, but it didn't fix anything. I guess I'll try reinstalling .net.
  4. It is Windows 10. Was there something in what I attached that looked like Windows 7? There was no dialog box to dismiss when it crashed. I had to go into Event Manager to see what happened. I attached the log pointed to by Event Manager, but I was not sure if it was useful. I am traveling for business this week, but will try reinstalling the .net framework when I get back home. Thanks for the support!
  5. GameEx Evo started crashing on startup a few days ago. The logo comes up and then just disappears. I have attached the ini file. I was digging around in Event Manager looking for any evidence of what was happening and it had this as well as the 2nd attached file. I'm not sure if that is useful or not. Let me know if there is anything else that would be helpful. Thanks! 6. Since the interface is totally different than GameEx, I'm a little lost....I see how to add a game to Favorites, but I don't seem to be able to find the Favorites menu to launch these selected games. Is there a way to organize Favorites into separate lists like by emulator, year, manufacturer, etc.? Another question is if there a way to work with and edit the game databases offline on another computer? I would like to clean up some things, but would like to do it on my laptop as opposed to standing at my cabinet. (are these the db3 files that I see in the file system?) Lastly, I was trying to edit game info from the setup wizard, and each time I tried, the wizard crashed. I don't have the detailed crash info with me, but thought I'd ask if there were any known bugs or common config mistakes that might cause this. I can create another thread and upload anything that would help debug this later if needed. Thanks!
  7. Thanks! I see the exit config at the bottom of the GameEx emulator config, but it's not entirely clear what all the entries do. Is this documented somewhere? Is there also still things that need to be edited directly in the MAME ini file for these emulators. The problem I see seems to be limited to PC emulators. The console emulators seem to be consistent with the Arcade games.
  8. I finally got through some issues getting the MESS emulation in MAME when using GameEX Evolution. (Pretty much just issues with managing paths) One thing I have found is that some emulations do not seem to support the same keys to exit, pause, and configure the inputs. (Defaults esc, p, and Tab) These all seem to work with Arcade games and ColecoVision, but not with C64 and a800, I have been searching around, but not seen anything specific. Has anyone else come across this? Are they handled differently? Thanks!
  9. I am also using 197. I am using a very small list of ROM's to debug my configuration. But despite only having 59 roms in the directory, when I edit the gamer liste in the Setup Wizard, it says I have 2312 games.
  10. Thanks! I did see some command line args for multi-processor support. I might see if that does anything. How about enabling frame dropping? Does that sometimes yield acceptable results?
  11. Just had a thought....Even though the desktop has a pretty dated i7 (2600) compared to the laptop (7500), it is a quad core, whereas the laptop is a dual core. I'm guessing the audio doesn't starve for CPU time with the extra cores. Are there any performance settings worth playing with if this is the case?
  12. Thanks for the quick replies! The version of MAME is 0.182, it is definitely not an issue specific to GameEx. I don't think I have triple buffering enabled, but will double check. The laptop is an HP Envy. I will need to go write down the details on the audio hardware and other items. I also need to see if there is some significant difference between my old desktop which does not have the problem and the Laptop/MAME-rig; at least right now, nothing jumps out at me. Thanks again! - John
  13. I have been trying to resolve an issue with stuttering audio. I only seem to see it on games with chd support, specifically Carnevil, Golden Tee, and some others. (I can't say for certain it is related to CHD, given these games are also relatively heavy in 3D rendering compared to most MAME games) I have tried it on 3 systems, and see the problem on 2 of the 3 of them. 1.) MAME Cabinet (Stuttering): older core2 duo running Win7 , 4GB RAM, budget PCIe GPU 2.) Laptop (Stuttering): i7 (7500U), Win10, 8GB RAM, running on an SSD, and decent mobile NVIDIA GPU, 3. Older Desktop( (no stuttering!) : older i7 (2600K), Win10, 8GB RAM, running on SSD, and an aging GPU. If the problem was not seen on the laptop, I would chalk it up to old hardware in the MAME cabinet, but if I can get it running well on the laptop, I'll just scrap the core2 duo and put the laptop in the cabinet. Any advice on where to look or other things to try would be appreciated. Thanks! -John
  14. Thanks guys, for the quick response! Your suggestion helped me get past that problem. Now, I hit 2 separate problems for Coleco and the a7800. I'm digging around looking for existing answers, but I'll throw them out here in case you have any quick advice. With Coleco, I now get to the boot screen, but with 4 different behaviors depending on the ROM. 1.) After the boot screen, the screen flickers black and the boot screen comes back. 2.) It gets past the boot screen and to a menu where you select 1-8 for skill and number of players which is non-responsive. 3.) In some cases, I get past the skill/player menu, but it is followed by a series of screens full of garbage. (similar to what you see during self-test on older machines, but this doesn't end) 4.) an error screen along the lines of something you see when you pull a cartridge out with the console power on. Do you think these are problems with emulation, or more likely related to a configuration? Below is a verbose output of what I see with the a7800. I just realized how to enable this verbose option, so I am still digesting it. Once thing I came across in another forum was something to do with the emulator needing a header to designate the ROM as a cartridge (as opposed to some other media). Does this or anything in the trace below shed any light? Does the fact there is no sign of the .bin file in the trace suggest that there is a missing path and it is not being mounted as a cartridge? 15. Hi, I've been trying to get the a5200, a7800, and Colecovision to run from GameEx using mame64. I have been able to get the a5200, but the other 2 are not running for reasons I can't explain. I have been trying debug this from the command line, and it complains that it can't find the colecovision BIOS file. When I look at the path in the command line and follow it in the file system to the BIOS zipfile, the file that it is complaining about is there....Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem is or other things to try? I will attach a screenshot of the error at the command line and show the location of the file which it says it can't find as well as the config for the emulator if that helps generate any thoughts. Thanks! -John MAME Colecovision Debug.pdf
  16. Hi everyone, I want to try your software, but everytime I download either of the installers, my Norton Security Suite complains that it doesn't like the file and deletes it. Specifically, it references a threat name "WS.Reputation.1". It also says, "Threat type: Insight Network Threat. There are many indications that this file is untrustworthy and therefore not safe" I think it might be a false positive, but would feel better if someone could explain how/why Norton might be concerned. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks! -John
