  1. Hi Peoples, Long time -no visit, Just got back into my mame with GameEx and for the life of me i cant figure out how i used to have it set. Yes i am still on version 6.76 and still got it set up that way. Just using my cab to play mame games and before i stuffed all the settings up i was able to have a H and X in the top right corner allowing me to shut down the computer properly. Now after trying numerous times to reset my cab to the defaults i used to have , i can only seem to come up with the X in the corner and not the H . The X only shuts down gameex , where the H button i could safely shut down the pc. Is there any harm in me just hitting the x and then turning the machine of? or should the pc be shut down correctly? I am also using instant sheller. Any info or setting for me very much appreciated, Cheers
  2. Headkaze,go to zaxamusements.com They are in melbourne.I am in Sydney and the cost to ship it to my address by there carrier(cope)was only $40 You should really inveast in one(they are awesome)and will finish off your cab nicely. Bkenobi, Like i said -the best cash i ever spent. Simple, just plug your computer in to the vga, connect the power and you would think that you are really playing on an arcade monitor. No need for the so-called arcade vga card-i am just using an ati radeon 128mb. Perfect picture with perfect results. Will try to post a few pics of it on the weekend for you, Cheers.
  3. Mate,$875 is a bargain for the sheer purfection that it has done to my game playing. Remember my $875 is a whole lot different to your $875US For your completed cab. And no i dont have an unlimited cash supply, but what i forsake in the free cab i spent on a perfect picture with a huge screen. Will post a few pics soon of the completed cab that cost me totally finished for a smidge under a grand Aus. Cheers.
  4. Mate i payed $875 for mine a year ago from ZAX AMUSEMENTS in Melbourne Australia. The best $875 i have ever spent. Just plug n play, straight out of the box.NO NEED FOR THE ARCADE VGA CARD TO GET THE RESOLUTION RIGHT,it is already perfect. Go ahead, indulge yourself,You Will Not Be Sorry. Cheers.
  5. I,m pretty sure that most of your older mame games like pacman, galaga, galaxian, wonderboy, ghosties, etc, etc, etc, will only allow that player ones joystick be used even if playing a two player game so that you both have to alternate when playing. The only excepting being that if you are playing those games on a cocktail cabinet the games allow using both the joysticks as you are facing each other. Hope that helps you out.
  6. Thanks for the help.I did what you recommended with no luck. All key presses are reading correctly, but a strange thing happened when i went back into gameex-it had rotated the screen 90degrees by itself.I think it is all f___ ed.When it all happened at the start and the logfile came up with install net framework2.0,this may fix your problem or you will have to reinstall your operating system.Funny the darn thing isnt even connected to the net and all i did was install a keywiz and i have ended up in all this s__t. I am going to reinstall mame and gameex from scratch tomorrow and hope in hell that it all works for me(i,ve had enough for today") I,ll let you know how i get on, Cheers.
  7. Yep,button 5&6 on player 2 side are assigned to those locations in mame by default. All my ground wires are intact.Player 1 joystick will operate when scrolling through the game lists it is only when you start a game that it wont work along with player 2 5&6 buttons. Also you cannot register a credit. Do you think that if i totally delete mame &gameex files and reload them that this might fix my problem.Any more ideas?
  8. Firstly i am using Mame106 and GameEx 6.76. Everything was working fine untill i installed a keywiz into my cab.GameEx wouldnt work unless i installed net framework 2.0,did that-GameEx works again except that when i want to play a game it wont install a credit and if i go between the keyboard and the keywiz and manually install a credit,i get the game up and running except for example-Streetfighter-player 1 joystick wont have any movement but all the 6 buttons work-player2 joystick works fine but button 5&6 wont work. I have triple checked all my wiring, checked for a different setting in GameEx or mame and i am stuffed if i can work it out. Someone please help me out.
  9. Thankyou sir. I dont know how it happened to be turned on as i had it turned off before i did the update game list. No worries it is all good now. Thanks
  10. GameEx wont launch any vertical games. They are in the mame list and i have just done an update hoping it would fix the problem, but no luck. All horizontal games seem to be launching okay. In mame 32 they all launch perfectly. Maybe i have made a mistake somewhere, but for the life of me i cannot work it out. Experts-Please help me.
  11. Yep, You want to play a game that is currently displayed in screensaver-just inset a credit and away you go. As for the ESC button-just remap it to whatever you like.
  12. Thanks mate. But i finally have got it all figured out.All that was wrong was that i had installed the artwork files in there folder in mame32 which i had avoided in the past-it only finally came to me on my uptenth beer. All working sweetly now except that i cant get the screensaver to work now(i think that i will leave this prob for a long while as i am still recovering from my initial prob and had to pause the cab in the middle of one hell of a good game of galaxian. Cheers and more power to you.
  13. Rustynutts, Finally got a picture with those settings you gave me,only prob now is that it is totaly shrinked(about one eighth of the actual screen size.Is there a setting somewhere in GameEx or the Mame32 config that will fix this.I tryed numerous settings last night but to no avail. If all else fails i think i will go back and reload everything but using Mame32 v105 instead of 106(maybe there is a prob with that release because when i had it all running smoothly i was using 105 not 106 that i am trying to get working now. Thanks for your replys anyway(pity no one else here knows anything, they seem to know everything else?)
  14. Yep,i am sure that AdvanceMame would probably sort it out.But as i am using the windows Mame32 version and have no idea on building a dos mame program that can use Advance Mame i am hoping that someone here has had the same problem as me using similar equipment and knows how to fix it. I am going to try Rustynutts sugestions and see if they work"(must be something quite easy as i had it working perfectly before but for the life of me just cant get it to go again) I,ll keep you posted, Cheers. .
  15. Just using a graphics card.Monitor is a Wells Gardner D9200 Digital. Graphics card is Radeon9200 128mb 8xAGP. Where are the advanced settings?I am using Mame32. Thanks.
  16. Seriously need your expert help. I have just finished installing Mame32 v106 +GameEx v6.76 + i have a wells gardner 27" monitor (Now when i want to play a game,eg:1942,streetfighter,etc,etc, it comes up with a (OUT OF RANGE)on the monitor. Before i had to reload everything it was working excellent-no probs at all(my hard drive sh*t itself). I have tryed countless settings in the mame32 config but to no avail. PLEASE HELP ME -i am going nuts.
  17. Start with your microswitches which will be connected to each button, joystick, etc.Start a (DAISYCHAIN)google it and you will find valuable info)Do the ground wires first-it is easy just wire one to another and so on untill all are grounded. Then get your various coloured wires and connect each one to the microswitches and then each single wire will have a place on your ipec to connect to(should be numbered and lettered)for each command that you want to achieve. I was in the same ship as you my friend but after exhaustingly searching the net for (HOW TO WIRE UP A CONTROL PANEL,HOW TO WIRE UP MICROSWITCHES,ETC)i now have come to love doing this side of the cab(i hate the computer side-not that computer literate yet-but trying hard). I hope this has helped a little, but i am more than willing to email you my documents that i have lying around if that would help you out, just PM me. Good luck
  18. Just to make sure,i want to update my version to the latest one(i have read the forum but am still a little unsure),do i just execute the executable and it will install itself over my previos one? I tryed to update earlier but when i had done this i had to reinstall everything over again(gameex and all emulaters)because once this was done all that showed on the opening was multimedia and something else,i cant remember(NO GAMES LISTS AT ALL). Please show me the way
  19. Heres some pics of my now completed cocktail cab. 21 inch vga monitor installed vertically,P4 -1.7 ghz. Once again a HUGE wrap goes to Tom for this amazing frontend which allowed me to display the games vertically without any special graphics card. Cheers,
  20. Yep it is the windows login asking for the password. On my other cab using instant sheller it will just boot straight into gameex without asking for anything.I want this to happen on this machine also but when i use instant sheller the abovementioned happens.
  21. Please someone help me. I am running xp pro, done all the usual stuff-usercontrol passwords etc.First gameex screen comes on then befor it loads into gameex it says type password, make sure your name and password domain are correct. So then i have to keep hitting the enter button on the keyboard to get it to go into gameex. On my other cocktail cab it shells fine but i have tryed everything i know to get it to work on my new one to no avail.I,ve read everything possible here and searched the net,but still cannot get it to work. Maybe (hopefully) someone here with i,d say far more computer knowledge could help this old poor bloke out. Fingers crossed. Thanks.
  22. shbon, Thanks for your reply.I expected that it would be something like your answer but was remotely hopeing that it was possible or somebody cluelly had worked out a way to change all the dipswitches at once. Anyway i will resort back to changing them one by one as i play each one ,then eventually they will all be done. Thankyou for all your help thus far.
  23. Does anybody know if there is a setting in dipswitches or gameex which will allow all mame games that i intend to have on my cocktail cab flip the screen to player 2 side or do you have to individually change each games dipswith to cocktail mode.Thanks.
  24. In my cocktail cab i am running a Pentium4,1.7ghz,512mb ram,64meg video card. All your mentioned games run perfectly-along with every other mame game.Although this cab is only for mame not any other emulater.I picked the computer up on ebay for less than $200 bucks(bargain). Hope this helps?
  25. Fantastic, I had already decided to install 3 buttons each side-but with your excellent info it has reassured me that i am doing the right thing. Will post photos of completed cab when finished(maybe a couple of weeks) Thanks again.
