  1. Is there a page or doc that explains the file location options needed to compile the latest ROM sets (v185, v185b emu in my case)? I get what looks like a completed run of the program, using the images found on HeadKaze's site as instruction, but where does the output data go? Where should the compiler be run from and does it need to be in specific folders to influence the roms? etc.. thnx.
  2. TY for the link. That should be helpful.
  3. Then it looks like I need to find a good install guide, or someone who knows the ropes. The basic readme install I followed to the letter and got errors on the compile go.
  4. Is there really any strong selling point for a compile? The program Headkaze has created is great, though I have no clue what file folders are to be chosen at some points (the install info does not click for me for some reason and I get errors on Go!) and just wondering if this whole step is all that important.
  5. Ahh, the horrors of compiling are at an end it seems. I recall having major pains doing so on my first cabinet back in 2003. I will do so now. TY.
  6. I guess the install of the latest GameEX version I downloaded the other day just did not take? ;P I will try that direction and see what goes. TY. UPDATE: The newer install of GameEX seems to have cleared up many of the issues first noted above. Not sure why my machine did not install the updated version correctly, but we're almost up and running. TY.
  7. Hi all. I recently downloaded the latest GameEx files and MAMEv185b(32bit) to rom my v185 RomSet in a new arcade build. The three primary issues I am having are: 1. Video Snaps will not play, only Still Snaps show up on Rom List. The directories are correct, unless I oopsed, but no go. 2. MAME Update List will run up to Reading List.dat (25%) then hangs.. for hours, without completing. 3. Some MAME roms (i.e. Victory Road - Ikari Warriors II) will run just fine if I load MAMEv185b (and runs fine in my older MAMEUI32v175 version), but not if I run it through GameEx. GameEX running will show the rom and still snap but when trying to run the game I get a 2 seconds black screen then get dropped right back to the 'Play this game' option in the main menu. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you. 8. Hmmm, I think Deep Purple is a version #3 theme and the editor only does #2/#4 versions.
  9. Using the Deep Purple Theme in GameEx, but what option do we turn off to remove the Media Buttons and 'top list' (<change view>, <home>, etc) so that only the main menu list remains on the Start Page? Thanks folks.
  10. I've been doing some testing and it seems utterly random. Of the 70 times I ran a system boot today on the cabinet, 8 times the Enter Error showed itself (yes, lots of start up / shut down). It must have something to do with program loading, since it seems so random. Of the 8 error loads I noticed, they seem to come in groups. 2 times, then 3 times, then 3 more times it would load into the OS with the Error in effect.
  11. Glad someone else has seen this.. thought I was going mad at first. It only happens to load with this constant input -now and then- and is only the Enter Key for my machine.
  12. Now and then, when GameEx loads into the cabinet OS, upon its start up, the program begins 'pressing' enter endlessly and about every second or two. I have tested all other programs and it's just GameEx that causes this issue, as noted when I shut down GameEx, the 'entering' stops. Any ideas?
  13. My common setup for basic MAME controls is something like this... 2: 8-way sticks, 6 buttons each (sometimes 7 each) 1: 4-way at the mid-top with 3 buttons on left or right, or both sides 1: 2.25" or 3" trackball with mounting plate over or under CP top 1: spinner as it fits... Player 1/2 and Credit 1/2 (sometimes in the coin door mech) Pause/Exit/Config as needed on the CP top or on the machine by the panel bottom
  14. ISSUE FIXED - Forgot the best way to view videos is to turn the Video Option ON!!! I can't seem to find a method of starting up the cabinet with an Intro Video before GameEx loads. I go right from blank desktop to GameEx Loading screen, then GameEx Menu.. it never even shows my .avi or .mpg video I have saved in the ../Meda/Videos folder and configed to play. Windows XP with Vista Codex (runs avi snaps fine) Any ideas?
  15. The Visual Pinball issue still is at large. Seems there has been no change in the reinstall of that 'oddity'. And trust me fReqEnCy, I know how tough updates can be on builders.. I'm just glad to be a part of the group that shows so much concern for a program such as GameEx. Keep up the excellent work!
  16. It seems this a BUG, as when I fresh reinstalled the GameEx files to this machine, the game list now returns to normal activity.
  17. I am beginning to assume it's a small bug as well. It does not halt game play in any way, just makes Menu use a pain at times. Let's see where we go tomorrow.
  18. With working Path as: Z:\Visual Pinball or even as: Z:\Visual Pinball\ I get a black screen, then reverts back to 'Play this game' menu page. This is with .vpt or .lnk files both. No dice. The only working method I can find is... Working Path: Z:\Visual Pinball\Tables ROM Path: Z:\Visual Pinball\Tables ROM Filter: .vpt Command Line: ..\VPinball.exe -play -"[ROMFILE]" But then I still have the original issue of the menu defaulting back to the Start Page once I exit out of a pinball table and try to begin another/or the same table.
  19. Sadly that's not the issue it seems.. mine has been set to YES normally.
  20. Hi all, On some tables, about 30% of them, I am seeing something odd. The tables will not show up when loaded, all I see is the upper board screen (LED/Digital Display for score and info) Its as if the main display is being used as an extended display for some tables. Any clues what setting might cause this?
  21. The strange part is that all the .vpt table files play in VP just fine.. just not the .lnks shortcuts. The shortcuts will open the launcher, but not load the associated table into the launcher and then play it. Another odd point, the normal .vpt files open the launcher as well, but they don't load and play... Don't have the slightest clue why that is not working. I reverted back to the original setup and the tables load in GameEx once more, but the issue of the menu sliding back to the Start Page after every table play is still here.
  22. BUG FOUND - Just started having an issue with GameEx not resetting the Game List bar back to #'s first in the alphabetical game list. Each time I start up GameEx from any setting, arcade machine on or off, GameEx shutdown or still running.. the picker bar for game choices is always on Xybots. Any ideas how to fix this 'stuck' menu?
  23. When clicking the shortcut version of the tables I get the Visual Pinball Loader, but the tables do not show up in the editor/play screen. Odd. Paths are correct, always set to Full Screen, no go still. And yes, the "" was a gram error, sorry.
  24. Above noted changes made, no effect... Still going to Black Screen with mouse arrow just sitting there waiting.. have to Esc out to move on.
  25. The Visual Pinball .ini I have as a config is as follows: [Emulator_3] Enabled=True STARTPAGENAME=Virtual Pinball Arcade TITLETEXT=Virtual Pinball Games StartPageLogo=pinball ROMFilter=*.lnk RomPath=Z:\Visual Pinball\Table LNKs SnapPath=Z:\Visual Pinball\Snap TitlePath= BoxPath= CartPath= ManualPath= ControlPanelPath= InstructionsPath= WorkingPath=Z:\Visual Pinball\Table LNKs MapKeys=False WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=True RemoveBrackets=True ShowDesktop=True Debug=False MAPFile= AlsoLaunch=[apppath]\vpauto.exe Command=""[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]"" OLDatZip= LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter= configFile=Visual Pinball V6 ExcludedFiles= CustomBackground=ArrowDown.png PlayMusic= DontShowInfo= PlaySelectionMusic= SelectionMusicFolder= PCGame= DATABASE=VISUALPINBALL GamesIn7Zips= PlayInScreenSaver=True ShowMostPlayed= RandomMostPlayed= CDCheck= CDCheckFile= [GENERAL] DumbyValue= Give any comments you feel might help.
