  1. didn't think about this one... thats true but maybe you can set the bluesoleil software on auto-pair once a wiimote gets discovered
  2. hi guys, has anybody checked out the wiimote to use as a lightgun for mame? i saw some videos on youtube and since i have a wiimote and bluetooth that would be much cheaper then buying a usb lightgun (and its wireless) i guess the only problem would be the calibration of the lightgun on startup. There is a program called glovepie and there are existing scripts for calibration, but to integrate it a s a startup procedure could be quite tricky. http://www.wiili.org/forum/configurable-wi...ript-t3903.html I will try it out in the next couple of days. has anyone over here experience with it? I wonder if House of the Dead 3 PC version would be cab friendly...
  3. just wanted to say thanks, worked like a charm! now i have all the old classics without all the hacked roms, beautiful now i just have to do the snapshots all over
  4. if you want it cheap and easy you can do it like this: i bought an x-arcade controller. (100$ refurb) then i took my old computer (worth 50$) and an old 22 " crt monitor that my friend gave me fro free since he updated to LCD then i built my cabinet out of mdf (not the best material but it serves the purpose...) (50$). it looks like a real arcade machine but it doesn't stand up by itself. The lower part is a small fridge to cool your beer underneath your arcade and i bought gameex... thats all! the total amouint i spend on everything with screews and new fans was 250$ maybe i'm really satisfied with the solution, my eyes don't get tired since i run all the games with 100 Hz and mame plus with super 2xsai let's the old games look awesome even on a CRT the good thing about the x-arcade is you have a lot of buttons to configure and you don't have to spend hours trying to get J-Pac to work. I could post some pictures if you are interested...
  5. yey, i did it! thanks again for your help, brian if anybody is interested in compiling mame plus ver 0.125 to get rid of the loading artwork and the nag screens, just download the attached ui.c and replace it with the one at %mamesrc%/src/emu follow the instructions in the source dir called compile.htm and don't forget to also download the mame plus extra fonts (not mentioned in instructions) ui.7z
  6. Hey guys (esp brian and headk after running my mame through gameex fine for a couple of months with the recompiled mame.exe with the hiscore.diff patches i want to use mame plus now. the reason is simple: I have a big 22" vga monitor and i don't like the pixel graphic. first i tried it with scanlines but it still looks kind of crappy (even on high resolutions) so now i found out that mame plus supports a couple of goodies i want to use - e.g the super 2xsai engine or hq3x - command list for games like sf2 the only thing that really annoys me is the nag screen that games don't run perfect. my mame often runs in attract mode (its in the kitchen and constantly used by me and my roomies). in attract mode most games don't start because of the nag screen. how do i get rid of that? i tried to recompile mame plus with the 0.125 hiscore.diff file but both by command line and the mame compiler 64 i get error messages during install. mame plus compiles fine when the patch is not used but when i apply the patch the compiling stops here: Converting src/emu/layout/snap.lay... Compiling src/emu/video.c... src/emu/video.c: In function 'decode_graphics': src/emu/video.c:626: error: 'buffer' undeclared (first use in this function) src/emu/video.c:626: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once src/emu/video.c:626: error: for each function it appears in.) mingw32-make: *** [obj/windows/mamep/emu/video.o] Error 1 do you guys know how to change the diff file in order to produce the files? simply put: how do i get rid of the nag screens in mame plus and how can i switch off the confrmation message when i exit a game? does somebody have time to get inbto this? thanks for any help
  7. wow, i figured it out. the time i spent on writing my post i should have spend on thinking... i just deleted the winactive command to have this hotkey combination working for everything and now it works fine! thanks again bkenobi, you really helped me out!
  8. Hey bkenobi, thanks for the compiled version. Unfortunately I can't get this script up and running. I feel like a complete newbie... I tried to figure it out on my own but i just don't get it why its not working! I tried it out on two different pc's. I was holding down key c and key 5 for a while but that didn't trigger the esc button. I recompiled the ahk file to an exe, didnt work either then i saw that in your script it mentions zinc... did you write it so it only wokrs inside the zinc emulator or is that just the placeholder description? i tried using it inside zinc as well but no success there either. i know it's annoying hearing stuff like it doesn't work, help me.. but maybe you know what could have gone wrong... cheers, chriss p.s. It would be nice to have this script working with all emulators so i can exit everything by pressing c and 5 for 2 seconds
  9. thanks m8, will check it out now... much appreciated
  10. thanks brian, that would be awesome. i'm having my birthday party tomorrow and i want to have everything up and running by then.. the lower two buttons on the x-arcade are key 5 and key c. is it possible to have a 2 sec delay so that i can still use the buttons inside the game? thanks for the offer again! cheers, chriss
  11. hey tempest. thanks for the hint! now i tried to understand the advanced configuration ini files to freely configure two buttons (like pressing c and key 5) but it seems to be optimised for gamepad use and i don't get it to work with the x-arcade... by pressing the two buttons you quoted i can exit mame and the snes emulator but it doesn't work for zinc! dunno why, the sound of the game keeps playing and the screen turns black! how can i exit zinc for good?
  12. everything is working now, except i cant exit the emulator with my x arcade somehow i have to remap the esc key, how do you guys do that?
  13. ok, i figured out that the confg file of gameex is in c:\program files\gameex\config\gameex.ini thats for the newb's who just used the setup tool of gameex so far. after netering brians information at the right part, zinc works now two other questions i can't find an answer for: 1. how do i switch zinc from d3d to opengl, when i click on winterblatcts ogl button a webpage opens up, nothing else 2. still i haven't figure out a good way to configure the x-arcade and a way to get back into gameex.. (in mame i configured the exit by pressing two keys at once) help appreciated thanks
  14. sorry guys, id on't get it! brian you're a little too quick for me... I got zinc working with winterblasts gui but only get black screens inside gameex (goes black then back to gameex) now two questions: 1. is it possible to give me step by step instructions on how to set up zinc in a custom dir (i have it in d:\games\zinc) 2. is there a way to exit zinc by another key than esc? i have an xarcade controller...xpadder seemed to be a solution for gamepads, am i right? thanks for helping me out, chriss
  15. thanks as usual! i will try ur suggestions later!
  16. Hey guys, I got the same problem as already discussed on this thread... I got all the sf3 files and it works fine when i start it with mame32 i can also see sf3 in gameex (only one version even with filters off...) but when i start it, the screen turns black and then i'm back to gameex. somebody know why this happens? i don't really get what small zip files dalomarius is talking about.. thanks for any help cheers, chris

    Best OS

i wouldn't really recommend 3.11 i got xp and the system is starting up very fast (there's not much on there except gameex and mame, i even disabled the modern xp style and switched back to the win 2000 look) i guess with xp you'll probably not run into any driver issues as you could experience with vista! so take xp sp2 (or even sp3 but i don't see a reason for that)
  18. everything is perfect now. i compiled my mame version with headkazes mame compiler, i got hi score support and no nag screens. brian explained to me that the mame version i compiled is a windows mame version ( i thought it was dos) and that i don't need a gui because of gameex. I can just recommend that to everyone. the sound is not lagging anymore, it just required a restart! now that the software is set up i 'll start building my cabinet. i'm at a point where i don't need the keyboard anymore... so everything is the way it was supposed to be! thanks for the great help from everyone. i'll post pictures of the cabinet when i'm done cheers, chriss
  19. frequency i hear you... at the moment i can't stop working on this cabinet. it drives me nuts! i'm obsessed with it! i hope i get it doen soone, so i can start doing more important things... I now compiled my own mame with headkazes compiler! it works great! no nag screen at all! But.... sound is lagging at the beginning of a game , it gets better after a minute or so but it's not completely gone... i read somewhere that i need a soundblaster emulation for dos mame.. can somebody please tell me how that works?
  20. sorry for mentioning the place i obtained some roms... will not do it again! I fixed the issue, well, sort of, by configuring the user interface keys from inside mame. that gives me the ability to move the joystick from left to right and get rid of the nag thanks for all your help!
  21. thanks for the quick reply guys! I really got the feeling this is a great community over here!! A game that gives me the incorrect rom screen e.g. is the "cookie and bibi" series. I downloaded the 16 gb 0.122 rom package from ******** and I hoped all the roms from there would work properly but maybe this is just the best dump up to date... Since I use MameUI32 compiling a version myself is probably a bit too much of a hassle ... It's good to know that for some of you it works with the xarcade... i downloaded the xarcade.cfg from the xarcade site and use that in mame. but with that the controller wasn't configured the way it should be... For the Player 1 controls the first 3 keys didn't work so i reconfigured everything from inside mame! maybe my config is bad, could somebody help me out with this? cheers, chriss
  22. hey guys, i just bought gameex and i'm nearly completely satisfied with it. I'm using gameex with my xarcade controller and i don't want to use a keyboard at all when my cabinet is finished! Now my question: with some games i downloaded I get the error message that the rom is incorrect. however after typing ok it works fine. is there a way to switch of this screen? when i move my joystick from left to right it doesn't work so I'm looking for an alternative or i want to get rid of this screen. with the skip_gameinfo command line i switched of the general info. this is already a step in the right direction i guess... i appreciate any kind of help from you guys thanks, chriss
