Ok I tried it this morning and it didn't work. After looking at it some more I realized that the icons are correct, but they are the regular icons, not the mameui icons. The folder I am pointing to in the options has the mameui icons in it for sure. I also checked to make sure, and I don't have those regular icons anywhere on any harddrive. Tom, does gameex pull icons from the internet or cache them somewhere or something?
-
I checked for other icons, but thats a no. Then I tried moving the data.mdb file, but Gameex won't boot without that file, so I can't update the list then.
-
I had 0.125, and the icons were 0.125. When I upgraded the icons were still 0.125, and I thought that caused the problem, but since I have upgraded to the latest version of the icons and still the same problem. Even if the icons were old it shouldn't have caused this though. If they changed a few rom names around, then a few icons might not work, but they didn't change all the rom names. ALL the icons are messed up. One more thing... I checked the icons during the screensaver mode where it puts the icon on the bottom in the fancy bezel information. The icons are wrong there too.

Just a few days ago I upgraded to 9.42 and the latest version of Mame (0.126). After doing a mame list update, all the icons for the games are next to the wrong games, and some don't have icons at all (ones that should). I've made sure the icons are all in the right directory and have proper names. They were correct before the update. I've tried doing another update of the mame list, I've tried deleting the windows icon cache, but no matter what those icons stay. I even just gave up and deleted the icons directory, just so it wouldn't annoy me, but somehow the icons still showed up. So are they cached somewhere I don't know about? Any ideas on how to fix this?

Gave it try tonight and it seemed to work like a charm! I let the screensaver run for about 45 mins. switching games every 3 mins. and CPWizard stayed at about 90MBs (same as at boot).
-
Is it possible to have text that runs off the screen, scroll? On my cabinet I'm just using a TV and run it at 800x600, so I keep the text on "bigger", but some rom titles run off the side of the screen (usually just the version number). If not, this would be a cool feature to have!
-
Awesome! Can't wait to try it!

Does anyone else have huge amounts of memory being used if you leave cpwizard running in resident mode? I have cpwizard running (not using the new features in Gameex, I don't like the panel showing before each game loads), and after the gameex screensaver has been running for awhile, cpwizard is using like 1.5 gigs of virtual memory causing windows to complain. -reflex

The GameEx Database Project
ReFleX replied to headkaze's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
I would like to chime in on this... It would be nice to have a few databases combined in addition to their separated brethren. For example, since GoodTools has 32x and Genesis combined, a combined database would be helpful. Gameboy / Gameboy Color and NeoGeo Pocket / Pocket Color are also the same way. This wouldn't take any extra work, just include an extra database with these combined so they match the goodtools. -
Probably, just wondering since the command line options are a bit obscure

Does anyone know how to make project 64 run with custom controls on a per rom basis from the command line? I would like to have say one set of controls for GoldenEye, but another for Mario Kart. I know there is custom control files you can save, but I would like to have those automatically selected when the emulator starts so the user doesn't have to.
-
I tried it with Windows XP and got the same problem... so its gotta be something I'm doing. I have all the folders in the right places but every time I do an update it just doesn't do the custom folder part. I check the log file and it just stops and goes back to attract mode after it gets done updating the year information. By the way... the manufacture, genre, and year information still don't work. Any other ideas? Some other things I have tried to eliminate possibilities: 1. Tried it on d: and c: 2. Tried mame on d: and c: 3. Made sure I had an icon file in the icon folder that corresponded to what the favorite.ini file has with each test I made sure to do an update and check the log file
-
Ok I just tried the 32bit version and same thing. I have verified that I have all the right stuff in all the right places... but the log file still says its adding the nplayers stuff, the mameinfo stuff, and so on... then just stops where its supposed to be doing the genre stuff and never gets to the custom folders stuff. I'm starting to think its something with Windows 64bit but I'm not sure. I would like to stick with it because according to Aaron Giles the 64bit version is supposed to be quite a bit faster. I might just use a different front end But if I go back to 32bit I'll test out Gameex again and let everyone know if its just me (probably) or windows (also very possible )
-
I got rid of those files because it wasn't working (kinda dumb reason ) The thing I notice though is possibly because I don't have it saying it updated year, manufacture, and category... maybe then it just doesn't do the custom folders. Where are your folders located and how are you pointing to them in the options? Just want to make sure i'm not doing something stupid. Mines is at d:\Mame\folders and thats where I have the options pointing to.
-
If the program isn't written in 64bit then windows makes it look like its a 32bit system... but you're right, this shouldn't affect Mame. But this also doesn't explain why it just seems to be ignoring the folders with the .ini files in it completely

I've got Gameex up and running under Vista x64 and am using it with the new Mame64 build. Everything so far is great, except for one thing. I can't get the Mame32 folders to work. I have the folders setup in the same way as the tutorial says on this board and nothing. Some quick things... 1. Yes I have done a rebuild of the list. I've done one each time I try something new. 2. Yes I have the option "Custom List Path" pointing to the folder where the .ini files are. 3. I have a new mameinfo.dat and history.dat that are both working and populating into the game list. Is there an option I'm missing that says to use these custom folders? Also, the manufacture, genre, and year tabs on the left don't work with the full Mame list. Is this because I'm using a "non-standard" build? ReFleX
